We need to talk about the recent edits to the Star of Bethlehem page. I appreciate your efforts to keep the page relevant to the topic, but I disagree that the section that references the Star in the Book of Mormon is about LDS and not about the Star. Using that same logic, the article contains parts that are about the Eastern Orthodox Church specifically and Christianity in general, rather than the Star itself.

Because our only source of knowledge relevant to the appearance of the Star is a religious document, the article contains a mixture of both religious and scientific views, and both help us to understand the Star better.

If the article contains such references to the Star as its mention in Christmas carols, which add nothing to our understanding of the Star itself but help us to understand the beliefs of others, then such references in the Book of Mormon would be relevant on the same grounds.

Lastly, I invite you to take a look at these articles: Tower of Babel, John the Baptist, and Baptism.

Thus, if the Book of Mormon's references to the Star of Bethlehem are excluded on the basis that they highlight a specific religion or belief, then many other parts of this article must be excluded as well. Danielwellsfloyd (talk) 16:40, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
