September 2018[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Frosted Flakes. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:18, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:FlightTime I doubt this message is correctly send to me. I was actually correcting a page which was highly vandalised. Please check my edits there 6Packs (talk) 22:22, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You're correct, my apologies. I was looking at this revert, which led me to belive you made the previous edits. Again my apologies. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:28, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thank you. 6Packs (talk) 22:34, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse talkback: you've got messages![edit]

Hello, 6Packs. Your question has been answered at the Teahouse Q&A board. Feel free to reply there!
Please note that all old questions are archived after 2-3 days of inactivity. Message added by Nick Moyes (talk) 22:25, 19 September 2018 (UTC). (You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{teahouse talkback}} template).[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to User:Ricoukad, you may be blocked from editing. L293D ( • ) 13:58, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

L293D please check again if my edit to user:Ricoukad are in anyway disruptive. I was infact correcting an article he has put on his userspace, which I think should be in his sandbox as it needs further fixing 6Packs (talk) 14:05, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your edit was not vandalism, but it was disruptive. See WP:USERNOCAT. L293D ( • ) 14:08, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well this is a new user who doesn't know where to place their article content and I feel they must be helped and directed as to where that article should be placed as they clearly seem not to be aware of how things go on Wikipedia. That was my viewpoint in this regard, I was in the process of leaving them a message on their talk to give such explanations and how/if the article which is in their userspace can be accepted as an encyclopedia. Unless my judgement was purely wrong, if this is the case, then allow me to render my sensere apologies 6Packs (talk) 14:16, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@L293D: I think that a level 3 vandalism warning was inappropriate for this situation (you added {{uw-vandalism3}}, not the disruptive editing warning, which would have also been excessive), given that 6Packs' only mistake was adding a mainspace category to a userspace draft in good faith, and they have not been warned before (except by mistake). I can't see this situation being worth more than a level 1 – or better, a message indicating that mainspace categories shouldn't be used on userpages. I hope you reconsider. Thine Antique Pen (talk) 14:48, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, as I said previously, this was not vandalism. I forgot to strike. L293D ( • ) 15:15, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Location of images[edit]

Hey there, I noticed you've moved the main images vertically upwards on Hawaii Water Resource Region and Caribbean Water Resource Region. Is there a MOS page or policy you can point me to that says images not in infoboxes need to be at the top? MOS:IMAGELOCATION seems to indicate wide latitude in this regard. -Furicorn (talk) 21:37, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Furicorn thanks for your text. I placed the image on top on the article because in order that it can show on the right side of the desktop as it would had it been in the Infobox. Generally, infoboxes are placed on top of the article so they show on the top right corner. However, in this regard, I put that one on top because it was the only image in the article. Had the article more than one image, I would have only moved the first one to the top right and left the rest in the places you would have insert in your article. I hope this clarifies my actions 6Packs (talk) 21:45, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
With regards to horizontal placement, MOS:IMAGELOCATION recommends centering very large images, so that's why it's not on the right. With regards to vertical placement, MOS:IMAGELOCATION says the following

An image should generally be placed in the most relevant article section; if this is not possible, try not to place an image "too early" i.e. far ahead of the point in the text discussing what the image illustrates, if this could puzzle the reader.

I feel like moving the image to the top of the article is a little confusing, so on Caribbean Water Resource Region I tried moving the image after the first paragraph. That way, there is a little text introducing the image. Let me know what you think -Furicorn (talk) 21:53, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your explanation gives much meaning above. Since an explanation might have been given with regards to the image (which I didn't see) you can move it back in its original place. I would also advise you put an infobox into the article so you can rather have the image in there (infobox). Otherwise, all is good. Happy editing 6Packs (talk) 22:02, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you know of any relevant infobox templates for the subject I'd be happy to check it out. None of the projects that I know in relation to this topic has any relevant infobox templates. -Furicorn (talk) 23:54, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This one [1] may be of great help in this article. But check though and see if it will best fit 6Packs (talk) 00:03, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page images[edit]

Hi 6Packs. When I came over from the Teahouse to your user page, I was hit by the enormous size of both images you'd placed there. I wonder if this is what you really wanted to do? Now, I know it is normally considered extremely bad form to edit another person's userpage without permission, but I hope you won't mind that I've taken the liberty of making a suggested alteration for you. Do please 'undo' my edit if you feel offended by this. My intention was wholly to assist a new user in presenting their interests as effectively as possible. You can learn more about changing how images appear by visiting Help:Pictures. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 22:18, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Moyes I must actually express my thanks to you for that. I was on the brink of heading over to Teahouse to request for a fix on the images. Again, I am thankful to you. I hope to receive more counsel where I fall short 6Packs (talk) 22:24, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ah good. We aim to please at the Teahouse; it's all part of our new 'psychic service' where we answer questions before anyone asks them. It saves on typing! I realise you've had a slightly rocky start here through no fault of your own, so do feel free to ask, either at the Teahouse, or drop me a note on my talk page if you hit any problems. We're really keen to see new editors sticking around and becoming long-term contributors, and you look to have quite an interest in editing across various areas. So shout if you need help, and learn for next time should you mess up. The only way never to mess up is to never to do anything, and that'd be a huge shame. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 22:57, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Advise well appreciated Nick Moyes. But I should admit, I failed to understand and put into context your response on teahouse with regards to my request to revert vandalism. Could you perhaps take me through in laymans. I can't seem to see the option which tell me to tick ( Done) revert on my preferences. I see there are about 6 subtitles under Gadgets, that is Browsing, Watchlist, Editing, Appearances, Advanced and Testing....where and on which among these do I tick? Its really hard to revert vandalism manually like I have been doing 6Packs (talk) 23:19, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear - I've just realised that your account is so new that you aren't yet 'autoconfirmed' (account over 4 days old), so it's possible that Twinkle (quite a powerful tool) will only be visible to you once it is. Anyway, the Twinkle option on my desktop is in Preferences>Gadgets>Browsing, and is 13 ticks down, just before Suppress display of fundraiser banners. It should say:
"Twinkle: automate common tasks such as reporting vandalism, warning vandals, requesting deletion, welcoming users, and tagging articles (preferences)."
If you can't see it, maybe wait until you're account is 5 days old and see if it appears. I'm really sorry if all that advice made no sense for that simple reason. (It took me ages to type out on my mobile, too!) Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 23:36, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I finally got it and updated my options on it. My account been on for the past 3 months, just that I never been active due to school studies until now. Many thanks for the help 6Packs (talk) 23:58, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, great. Use it with care - and do read the guidance at Wikipedia:Twinkle and Wikipedia:Twinkle/doc. Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 00:39, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Noted with thanks 6Packs (talk) 00:55, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on page Ajoobsha[edit]

the page Ajoobsha is relevant as it is about a serial actor and dubsmash maker who is famous in Kerala. The wiki page of a serial Bhramanam in which he acted shows the link to his page also. There are viewers to this page within these couple of days. This page is created for a living person and the links provided are true as per my knowledge — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anjali Ichu (talkcontribs) 09:22, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Anjali Ichu having an article tagged for deletion on Wikipedia can be frustrating but don't feel discouraged. I should have tagged your article for WP:QD but left it for the community to decide through AfD. This is because my Google search on your created article Ajoobsha did not show any signs of him meeting WP:GNG or if he is notable as an individual. The first two Google search results show only Facebook results, the third YouTube and then Instagram where he has 16.7k followers. This article currently has over 200 Wikipedia views since creation which could most likely be due to the subject sharing it. The above points doesn't show Notability, also having social media followers does not warranty Notability on Wikipedia. You have to be significantly covered in reliable sources. You may also wish to read WP:COI if you have any relation with the subject. I hope my explanations will suffice 6Packs (talk) 09:40, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
6Packs What else shall i include in the links. Will the links of television serials he acted or the short films he acted be useful?
Anjali Ichu you need to find reliable sources where the subject has been significantly covered to show if he meets music notability. You can participate in the discussion and give reasons as to why you see it should be kept and also try to improve the article. In its current form, the article is worth of being deleted as it doesn't meet our notability guidelines. Also always make sure to sign your comments on Wikipedia with four stides. Do feel free to leave me a message whenever you need help 6Packs (talk) 11:27, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Who are you? Silentkiller888 (talk) 09:52, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

I'm editing Family Ties, why is it not saved? Oreratile46 (talk) 15:20, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Oreratile46 i tagged the article Family Ties (Fat Joe and Dre album) for deletion and was deleted by an Admin because it looked like a test page. The way you created it was - sorry to say it like it is - very poor. The infobox was poorly done, it didn't have any source and was just way below what we need on Wikipedia. I know it can be frustrating to have an article deleted but read WP:Your first article and learn how things go before you attempt to write another article. Please do feel free to contact me on here should you need help. Cheers 6Packs (talk) 15:34, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted[edit]

Hi 6Packs. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until {{{expiry}}}. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Vanamonde (talk) 16:29, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Oreratile46 responded on your talk. I see you recreated the same content with no changes. Please read the warnings on your talk, they are helpful 6Packs (talk) 22:21, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Section headers, sentence case and proper nouns[edit]

Sorry, I've undone a couple of your edits at Draft:Eduardo Vilaro. While section headers are sentence case, proper nouns appearing in section headers are still capitalized. The names of the two dance companies are proper nouns, so I've restored their capitalization. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:28, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Rusty Lake[edit]

Hello 6Packs. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Rusty Lake, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Subject might be important/significant (see also Google News/Books hits for this subject) / use WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead to allow other editors to participate in this decision. Thank you. SoWhy 08:14, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Question: Your tagging of article Larry Lester[edit]

Hello, 6Packs. I am the creator of the page "Larry Lester", and am curious as to why you thought the article should face possible deletion within a day of creation for lack of notability, when two of the external links are independent articles about awards he has won with the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR, itself a fairly notable organization), and when SABR's own Wikipedia page already has a link to Larry Lester as chairman of one of the Negro Leagues Committee, one of its most prestigious committees.

I am still looking for a couple of online articles published by the author, as well as an interview with him and a list of local civic awards he has received, but I feel I've already adequately established notability with just what's been linked as of this moment, and certainly enough to earn a pass for the first week or two. The man has published a nine books about baseball's Negro Leagues, and actually has more independent documentation that many others listed in the category of "Baseball Writers".

I would ask that you use a less fast trigger when placing labels on new articles that say "likely to be merged, redirected, or deleted", and remove the tag. Thanks. -- Couillaud 20:33, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Couillaud I did not tag the article Larry Lester for deletion. I tagged in set the WP:Notability tag on it. What it means is that you should demonstrate in the article that indeed Larry Lester is notable. What you should do is demonstrate that by adding reliable independent sources to it. It's only after that that you can remove the tag if you see fit that the concerns are addressed. But do not remove the tages if the issue had not been solved. Cheers and happy editing 6Packs (talk) 21:34, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I note that this ID (6Packs) has existed about one week and yet is responsible for more then 1,000 edits in that time, which informs me that you've been doing this for much longer than one week, but under another ID. I would ask what your background on baseball-related articles, and what you believe constitutes "notability" among them? Two of the external links are actually biographies on the author as a result of awards he has received; they serve as independent and reliable sources for his notability. I believe these two are just as legitimate sources as are the three used to justify the notability of Patrick P. Ralotsia.
I did not accuse you of tagging the article for deletion, but your assertion that it does not meet a requirement for notability carries with it the stigma, and bears a threat of eventual deletion, and I believe that your use of the tag is too quick, and that you are using a broader interpretation of the rule than is necessary or common. I believe I HAVE already demonstrated that Mr. Lester IS a notable baseball writer, researcher, and author, and I believe that your putting that tag up less than 24 hours after the article was posted is not common practice, nor is the practice of answering my question on your own page.
I would ask that in the future, you respond to me on my own user's page, rather than making me search for your reply.--Couillaud 00:13, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

Questions[edit]

Hey 6Packs! Thanks for doing such a wonderful job reverting vandalism - your efforts are appreciated. Just wanted to point out two things:

  • When reverting disruptive edits, the users you revert should generally be warned. You've installed Twinkle, from what I've seen, so you can just go to a user's talk page, click the warn button under the Twinkle menu, and select the appropriate warning.
  • There are a few reverts of yours that I'm not sure why you used rollback: [2] [3] [4]. In the first one, the new category appears to be perfectly appropriate. The second one, although it may not be perfectly accurate, seems to have been made in good faith, so the IP probably should've been given an explanation. The third edit seems to be appropriate for the page as well - the edit was correct, as their name in Russian is Зарах Бинсионович Илиев.

Please don't think of this like any kind of lecture or warning at all, but rather as some friendly advice. Your contribs look amazing overall!--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 15:10, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: You are sometimes warning users when you revert their vandalism. I somehow missed that, and I sincerely apologize for that. However, you aren't for many of the vandalism edits you revert. Again, sorry for that, and let me know if you have any questions!--SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 15:37, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

September 2018[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Why do they keep removing my tracklist, keep editing the tracklist of The Carter V when I've already edited them? Oreratile46 (talk) 04:57, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oreratile46 I did not remove anything from your article. And please instead of posting questions on your talk do so here so I can help you where needed. Please feel free to ask for assistance 6Packs (talk) 05:29, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oreratile46 No one removed anything from Family Ties (Fat Joe and Dre album). It has only been edited by three contributors, you, (I who tagged it for WP:QD because it was poor at the time) and an administrator who declined QD. No one has removed anything from it. Please make sure you respond under this message, do not start another discussion like you done two already. It's unnecessary to do so, let's rather have a discussion in one place. For doing such a spectacular job with content creation and maintenance work! Have you had an account before? Lubna Valiya[edit]

Hi 6Packs. I see you put a speedy on Lubna Valiya. I know there is nothing there, I would have probably put a speedy as well. Would it not have been better to tell the filling editor to put it into a sandbox. I suppose the fact it has no references and has been reviewed on NPP, means its for the bin, but the editor had been editing it 25 minutes before. Possibly WP:BITE as it is second article, but he the editor only started it at 10:39. Not a lot of time to let it develop. scope_creep (talk) 10:25, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

scope_creep thanks for the notification. I found no content on it besides an infobox, I have nonetheless put an (In-use) template on it hoping it will be solved. I will check on it again after after some hours and see if its improved. Cheers 6Packs (talk) 10:36, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It cant hang around as an infobox. scope_creep (talk) 10:52, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 6Packs The articles has been created and it had no sources. I did a search, and there is no mention. of anything, apart from social media which are non RS. scope_creep (talk) 00:16, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
scope_creep thank you for checking back on it. I presumed it could never be corrected. I can also see its lead introduction is highly promotional. Ronz has had to remove social media sources from it which we obviously don't need here. In its current sense it deserves a speedy, I don't think the creator plans to improve it with reliable sources. Also Google search doesn't give such. What are your thoughts??? 6Packs (talk) 05:25, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
6Packs I put a BLPProd last night when it wast speedied. I took out all those non RS You Tube references. They were completely dud. I did a WP:BEFORE search on it before applying the prod, but couldn't find anything. I thought you would speedy in, and had it dissapeared by now. You should have went ahead and done it the first around. scope_creep (talk) 09:05, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
scope_creep speedy  Done. I saw the wonderful works you put in trying to find if she meets notability. However, the added she is famous and having number of social media followers really doesn't confer notability. Thanks for helping us go back to it. I hope for further engagements. Cheers 6Packs (talk) 09:32, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's been deleted. Kandesrikanth (talk · contribs) wrote on its talk page that he is a friend of Valiya, so there's a COI. The famousbirthdays.com website is a go-to for cheap publicity, as they will work from user submissions without apparent fact checking, and they actively solicit such submissions. Kandesrikanth's English is poor, and I'm not clear on what he/she understands of the situation. --Ronz (talk) 16:01, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on LP Green requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
