Templates[edit]

They can be in categories that are meant for templates, such as one or more of the categories listed at Category:Wikipedia template categories that exist to help Wikipedia editors find templates, but they can't be in categories whose primary purpose is to group related articles for the readership. Bearcat (talk) 20:12, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh okay! Thank you so much! I didn’t even know there were specific template categories. This is incredibly helpful information. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 20:14, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting some copy edit help[edit]

Hi, I am user Bookku usually work in information and knowledge gap areas. Just worked on sandbox draft 'My Body No Choice'.

As such I have made input and ce help request @ WT:WOMRED too but since you seem to have previously edited article Theatre (though small but concerned edit) may be it would be easier for you to help out if the topic would interest you. Thanks. -- Bookku (talk) 09:45, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, friend!
“though small but concerned edit” haha! I love it. I don’t think I have ever been so stressed out over the mere placement of two letters in my entire life.
I will absolutely check out your draft. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 00:25, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also! If you’re interested in seeing the follow-up war between myself and a few other editors in regards to that “Theatre vs Theater” debacle.. haha.. the battle relocated to the talk page on the Professional wrestling article.
Link to the debate April 23rd-April 26th 2023
A very heated debate over such a hyper-technical edit. Worth the read! 4theloveofallthings (talk) 00:47, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I really had missed the next edit to yours and also unaware of all that followed that particular small edit. :)
While inviting your help for ce I had simple guess some one cares small difference may help me in ce that is it. Then I realized as per WP rules I have to send invitation to everyone engaged in the discussion, as such if I get more helping hands for ce no issues but my article draft is small almost next stub. Thanks. Bookku (talk) 05:05, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have begun copy editing your writing. I will return to it tomorrow and strengthen it up with some sources and clean it up a bit. I only edited the opening paragraph thus far. Upon searching up the play, it has some really good sources that have a plethora of information that I think would be very useful to include.
If you ever want to revert my edits and tell me to stop because I am not editing in a way that you find useful, please don’t hesitate to do so. I will not be offended in the slightest, and thank you for inviting me to edit such an important draft about a powerful piece of feminist art. I am glad you decided to take on the task of creating the article. I think it is very important. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 08:26, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request for review of John Lauro article[edit]

Perfect! Thank you so much. That was a really fast response. I appreciate it. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 16:38, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Review[edit]

Article looks good; will be a developing story, as the Trump saga unfolds; this is a good beginning.

Here's my suggestions:

  1. I would add a "US spelling" tag at the top of the page, at the same spot as the date format tag. I generally set the spelling for all pages I create, and also for existing pages that have a clearly defined usage, but no spelling tag. Avoids controversy in the future, like the wrestling one. (!)
  2. My personal preference is not to put cites in the lead paragraph, or in the infobox. This is just personal style. I think of the lead as the overall summary, designed to give the complete picture of the article to the reader, and I think cites are a bit distracting. I also don't like cites in the infobox, because they are the ones that start "1", "2", etc. A reader going through the article may not realise that the earliest cites are in the infobox, and be puzzled if the first cite they come across when reading the body of the article is "3". Just my personal preference, but I find them a bit distracting in the lead and infobox. YMMV, of course. I would suggest moving the cites from the infobox and lead into the body of the article.
  3. Cite 2: I would avoid using one of the "breaking news" articles that the NYT, WaPost, and Guardian use, which are constantly being updated. By the time your reader is reading the article the next day, the part that you were referring to may be way down at the bottom of the breaking news article, if at all. Now that most media are reporting Trump's arraignment, should be possible to find one that is more stable. That could well be at the NYT, Guardian, etc - I'm not knocking them as sources, just avoid the "breaking news" articles that are inherently dynamic.
  4. Cites 7 & 8: I would avoid using these cites at all. Anytime I read an article that relies on advertising material put out by the subject of the article, I suspect promotional wiki-work. I'm not suggesting that's the case here, just letting you know that if you do use paid promotional material from the subject of the article, other editors' spidey-sense may start tingling. I think you can find the material that you're using those cites for in your other cites. The Florida bar listing (currently cite 1) says that he's got a law degree from Georgetown, for example. Even if you can't find the magna cum laude stuff at the moment, it might come out in future news articles. From skimming through the other cites, I think you could find support for the same points that are supported currently by 7 & 8.
  5. "Career" - I stumbled over "business partner" in the first line. Does it mean that he and Singer were in business before entering into a law partnership? I think you mean that he opened a law partnership with Singer? If that is the case, I'd re-word the sentence to avoid the "business partner" term.
  6. Cite 8 - you could use the CNN "quietly adds" article to support him having offices in Florida and NY, and get rid of 8. Don't need the specific details about what cities in Florida he has offices in.
  7. "Criminal conspiracy" section
    1. I would keep an eye on the news. This will be the section that develops the most.
    2. I would add the CNN "quietly adds" cite here, after "following Trump's indictment." (add apostrophe, and period - the sentence is currently too long.)
    3. Start the new sentence: "He revealed early hints etc."
    4. Clarify relationship to Eastman, as a former lawyer: "...blaming John Eastman, one of Trump's former lawyers, for allegedly giving him advice..." (personal style note: I don't like ending a phrase with a dangling possessive: "one of Trump's lawyers" reads better to me than "a lawyer of Trump's"; I always say to myself "of Trump's what?" Just a style comment; YMMV).
  8. "Personal Life" section - in the infobox, you say that he's divorced, without a cite, and don't mention it here. Can you provide details and a cite?
  9. "External links" - I would delete this section entirely. You've already got his law firm website in the infobox. Putting it there and here is a flag that this might be paid editing. I'm sure it's not, but excessive reliance on the business web presence of the subject of a bio is a red flag. One entry in the infobox is enough.

Hope this helps. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 00:36, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate this very much! Give me a bit and I will thoroughly read this and respond. I just have to finish up at work. Thank you for taking the time to give the article a thorough analysis. That was really awesome of you! 4theloveofallthings (talk) 15:44, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome. Mr Lauro has been in the news a lot today, with his comments about Trump just wanting to slow the vote count down. Probably worth adding that to the criminal conspiracy section. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 16:42, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to contribute! It’s not my article, I just created it. :) 4theloveofallthings (talk) 16:54, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just put "start" classification in the Talk page boxes. I left "importance" as ??? since I'm not familiar enough with American law stuff to judge that.Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 17:07, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? The file has a source listed. It is hyperlinked and leads directly to a page on the article subject’s official website. It even has the license information listed. I will not refer to the “image use policy” over an audio file. Thanks. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 06:02, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The source is also listed on this file. The archive account is the article subject’s official archive. If you go to the official website the archive is listed as officially associated. Under that file, it is listed as dedicated to the public domain. Again, why are you asking me to review the image use policy? These edits were just pointlessly disruptive. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 06:23, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody took the article I wrote, converted it to Spanish for Spanish Wikipedia, and then converted it back to English for English Wikipedia -- effectively making the article not created by me. It rather upset me, especially since I had been advocating for the article to remain as it was before it was sent back to draft.
