Great work!! The French article on the cosine law was way better by any standards, I fell bad I can't understand it. I only see the general flow of ideas. Now it is all clear I will read in finer detail, Thanks!!! The determinant is also featured and looks an excellent site in French. Would you like to translate it? suggest change[edit]

it is simpler to use the x and y coordinates instead of the lengths. i.e.

mark the point where the blue line meets the circle (a,o). Then

cos theta = a

sin theta = o

if the blue line is extended to any length, h.

cos = a /h

sin = o / h

by similar trianges.

now, using pythag theorem you can find that

sin 45 = 1 /(sqrt 2)

sin 135 = 1/(sqrt2)

you can clearly see that

sin 0 = 0

sin 90 = 1

sin 180 = 0

sin 270 = -1

plot a graph of these values to give you the sin wave. (i would do but i dont no how to make pictures on wiki).

if you ever update the page ill write a bit about taylor series for u.

btw, like the matrices idea. u gona put reflections and rotations using trig?

(nb// rads are more elegant than degs.)

Hi Kai- Do you think that a non-specialist is likely to have any understanding of the current introduction to PID ( even a mathematican from an area not using much algebra) or get a feel for the motivation for their interest? I read your response on my talk page. I did attempt, back in July,to motivate the interest of PID for the non-specialist (see history) , and got some fairly complimentary feedback. This has gradually been eroded in the meantime, until it's back to the same incomprehensible state of many mathematics pages, unmotivated and completely inaccessible to all but the already expert- those not needing to look it up here in any case. But there seems little point in trying again, as the same thing is likely to happen.
