Terminator[edit]

Hello. Why do you keep restoring the stuff that I removed here and here?  AJFU  (talk) 15:16, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@AJFU: Because they are unjust changes; cast tables such as these do not work on levels of notoriety, they work on which characters recur. Despite being relatively minor characters (the scene itself is quite important to the plot), the punks from The Terminator film are recurring characters. When we first here of Miles Dyson in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, he is referred to as Miles Bennett Dyson, not merely Miles Dyson. The point you made about Across all films the Terminator portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger is referred to as a T-101 due to the "101" part referring to the face of Schwarzenegger. The "T-850" refers to a different endoskeleton, being that of the third film, while "Pops" and "Guardian" refer to the actual names given to the Terminators of the fifth and sixth films, as well as being names by which they (Schwarzenegger) were credited. Simply saying "Terminator" is not enough given that section, in particular, is given to specific Terminators, the "T" in T-800, T-1000, T-600, etc. referring to the word "Terminator". Additionally, your edits are breaking the table by having "Arnold Schwarzenegger" take up two lines rather than one. I hope this cleared things up. 2A02:8084:88BC:EE00:B004:ACA1:B375:424A (talk) 18:43, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, but I still have some questions and comments:
  • "T-850" is not used in any of the films. In the third film, he refers to himself as a "T-101." If we were to go by credits, he is listed simply as "Terminator" for the first three films. "Terminator" is also the name of the character's page, presumably because that's the most common name. How about listing him as "Terminator/Model 101/T-800"? Those are the only consistent names. "T-101", "Pops/Guardian", and "Carl" are only used in one film each, so they could be explained in a note.
  • Why does "endoskeleton" keep getting capitalized?
  • "cast tables such as these do not work on levels of notoriety, they work on which characters recur." Is there a Wikipedia guideline that says this? I don't see a need to include the punks just because they recur. I'd agree if they had larger roles with a major impact on the plot, but they're minor. The Terminator simply gets his clothes from one of them, and they're not even important enough to receive actual names (just "Punk #1", etc.).
  • "Model 102" is not mentioned in the films. In The Terminator, Columbu is credited as "Future Terminator". In Terminator Genisys, there is a machine credited as "Refugee Terminator". Neither of them play a big role in the plot, and there's no evidence that they're supposed to be the same machine.
  • Why remove the clarification regarding Marcus Wright and Grace? The Terminator Salvation page says he is a cyborg. I can't remember if that exact word is used in the film, but it seems to adequately describe him. Is the name "Infiltration Prototype" used in the film? Even if it is, I'm not sure that's better than "cyborg". Aren't most of the machines meant to be infiltrators who can blend in with other humans? "Infiltration Prototype" doesn't make it clear that he's part human. As for Grace, "Augment" on its own is vague, I think. What's wrong with linking to human augmentation?
  • Being introduced one time as "Miles Bennett Dyson" doesn't mean we have to use his middle name. The end credits only list him as "Miles Dyson". The middle name is an unnecessary detail.
  • Why is Danny Dyson's middle name listed as "Dean"? I don't remember a middle name being mentioned in either of the films.
Also, haven't you tried making these changes before under a different IP? Those changes were reverted several times, so it may be a good idea to start a discussion at the talk page.  AJFU  (talk) 23:56, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
