Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football ‎[edit]

Please don't copy a whole proposed article onto the talk page like you did on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football! As to your question you wanted to raise about the Bhutan girl's national football team U-14, I doubt very much it would comply with Wikipedia:Notability unless you can find a decent amount of reliable sources. Have a read of the policy, it will tell you more. Calistemon (talk) 02:32, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 2A01:E34:EE0E:ABD0:B854:9C74:3C1F:E26D. As I tried to explain on my user talk page, you should not copy and paste entire drafts or articles onto talk pages. You should provide links instead. There are lots of reasons why you should not do this from possible copyright issues (if there are images involved) to formatting issues (the format used for articles and talk pages is slightly different). If you really want to create this article, then the first thing you must do is register for a Wikipedia account. Go to WP:ACCOUNT and carefully read the instructions, then click on "Create an account now" if you still want to create an account. Once you have created an account, you will find that you have a user sandbox where you can practice editing and work on your draft. You can find more information on how to create articles at Wikipedia:Writing your first article. When you have finished your draft, you can ask someone at WT:FOOTY to take a look at it. The editors at WP:FOOTY are quite familiar with the notability requirements for teams such as this and they will be able to advise you accordingly. If the team deserves an article based upon what you've written, they will help you create the article. You can also submit your draft through Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Good luck. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:01, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And again, don't create drafts/articles on talkpages. Proper reply on my talkpage. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:34, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening Callistemon. Is not constructive? explicate me please. I could fill this gap. When I see the senior teams, hope, u23, u18 and u16, not necessarily Bhutan, I find it a shame that nobody talks u14 teams and tournaments, there is also the u15. I have wanted to help build on wiki articles on u14 and u15. I think that there should be a vote for the articles? But I agree on the fact that he had not be that of Bhutan women's national football team. I admit I would have preferred it to be a product like the others. Unfortunately the English version of wiki, anonymous contributors or IP is not the power to create page as the French version of wiki. I agree that my English is pretty nil, but I'm also here to learn from my mistakes. I had an account, but there was an issue with I have ever been recovered and idem my account outlook. So I prefer not to repeat this time, but if I help my little way to wiki, it will be good, it will take you to explain the draft to put my article, a person is valid thereafter or position in my place (2A01:E34:EE0E:ABD0:B854:9C74:3C1F:E26D (talk) 01:48, 23 April 2016 (UTC))[reply]

As explained to you by quite a few people already the article you propose needs to meet WP:Notability to pass. Currently, from what I have seen, it doesn't. I quote:"If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list." Your sources are almost exclusivity from the Asian Football Confederation which is a primary source. Calistemon (talk) 05:15, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You bring up something very interesting in French version of this article, some admins want reliable sources directly from the AFC or FIFA, for others the source newspaper. FIFA there to but just for the FIFA u14 world, and the promotion of women's football at the World Cup in 2015. Some newspapers are not a reliable source, so I ask myself the question from the perspective of some French admins. I decide to put both, I could very well also be the sources of CAFA and SAFF (South Asia Football Federation and Central Asian Football Federation). There are many source article from Indian newspapers, Nepalese, etc ... and federation of these countries. But the problem number on the article in French, it is not so much the article, but the fact that it is the u14 football, then found the u16, u17, u18, u19, u20, u23, hope and senior. Some admins French argument are their personal opinion is not a neutral point of view.

A look at Category:Women's national youth association football teams will show you that there does not seem to be any articles below under 17 teams right now. I think, if you created your article it would pretty quickly be taken to Articles for deletion. You would be better of trying to expand the women's section of Football in Bhutan. However, keep in mind that all content has to be properly sourced otherwise it will just be deleted again. Calistemon (talk) 22:34, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tibet women's soccer[edit]

As there seem to be some editors who not agree with your use of your talk page to draft an article, I've made a copy of your work and placed it in draft space at Draft:Tibet women's soccer. It still needs work, of course, but you will be able to work on it there at your own pace. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 01:04, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@RexxS: The reason editors object is that it violates both WP:STALEDRAFT and WP:DRAFTNOCAT, apart from the fact that I don't like my talk page to look like this. The IP was warned about this by a number of users quite a number of times, its behaviour of continuing to ignore these warnings is actually disruptive. Calistemon (talk) 01:34, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Calistemon: It's true that pasting an entire draft into somebody's talk page is disruptive, but it's a minor inconvenience that is easy to fix. I'm pretty sure that the disruption is incidental, not malicious. On the other hand, we have a relatively new contributor who probably doesn't have English as a first language and is really keen to see an article on Tibet women's soccer - a topic that stands a decent chance of being notable - but doesn't understand our conventions, nor the best route to creating the article. Don't you think that, on balance, the encyclopedia benefits from us trying to help the IP to create a useful article, rather than getting upset with them because they don't follow our norms? --RexxS (talk) 14:23, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@RexxS: I agree with your view on do not bite the newcomers, which is why this discussion continues on the IP's talk page rather than being raised at WP:ANI. As to the notability of the subjects, I can't see how an article on the Bhutan girl's under-14 team or the Tibetan women's team, which is by no means an official selection as Tibet (sadly) isn't an independent nation, meet notability criteria. That is why I advised the IP to rather contribute to Bhutan women's national football team which is notable and not in danger of deletion. Calistemon (talk) 21:35, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think you'll find that two decent news articles by Voice of America and one by the British Broadcasting Company - over the space of two years and not trivial - will easily satisfy any concerns about notability. The twin angles of gender and Tibetan exiles make it irresistible to news outlets, so there's bound to be coverage. The only remaining concern is whether the draft article would have sufficient content to justify being stand-alone, but the IP seems to have assembled quite a bit of content, even though it desperately needs to be tied in to the sources collected at the bottom of the draft. --RexxS (talk) 01:11, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.
