October 2017[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Vendémiaire no Tsubasa, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. —Farix (t | c) 21:38, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Film budgets[edit]

Your delete has been reverted but I think it is important explain why it was reverted so that you do not make similar deletions in future.

Template:Infobox film clearly states that we should not "cherry pick" budget sources, and that if reliable sources disagree we should include both. So in the case of Box Office Mojo not listing any budget we must use other sources.

Box Office Mojo is one source of box office information and film budgets that is frequently used but it is not the only source and it has been known to be wrong. They don't ever explain where they are getting their numbers from, and are quite possibly copying them from other sources*. (BOM also frequently does dumb things like only listing USA totals, or makes other errors in the worldwide total box office.) The-numbers.com is another perfectly acceptable reliable source of box office figures. I've seen Box Office Mojo publish budget figures and then change them later (it isn't always clear if budget figures include tax rebates or not). I've also seen them revise box office gross figures downwards, because they will print opening weekend estimates and change them later.

  • Variety.com and the LA Times are frequently used as sources for budget figures.

If in doubt I would suggest you use the tags {{citation needed}} ({{cn}} for short) or {{better source needed}} ({{bcn}} for short).

You can also read more at at the Film Project Guidelines WP:MOSFILM or Template:Infobox film. The film project talk page is active if you need to ask questions. -- 109.76.149.146 (talk) 14:55, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
