Lundy's Lane[edit]

You appear to be prepared to indulge in an edit war over the result of this battle in the info box. You are correct in the long term effects, as described in the Aftermath section, but you are violating the relevant Wikipedia guidelines. These are set out in Template:Infobox military conflict. If you have not read these, I will reproduce them here:

resultoptionalthis parameter may use one of two standard terms: "X victory" or "Inconclusive". The term used is for the "immediate" outcome of the "subject" conflict and should reflect what the sources say. In cases where the standard terms do not accurately describe the outcome, a link or note should be made to the section of the article where the result is discussed in detail (such as "See the Aftermath section"). Such a note can also be used in conjunction with the standard terms but should not be used to conceal an ambiguity in the "immediate" result. Do not introduce non-standard terms like "decisive", "marginal" or "tactical", or contradictory statements like "decisive tactical victory but strategic defeat". Omit this parameter altogether rather than engage in speculation about which side won or by how much.

Emphasis is mine. The immediate result of the battle was a battlefield in the early hours of the morning occupied only by the dead and dying, and some abandoned British guns. Only at the end of another day or two after the fighting ceased were the long-term results apparent.

One of the reasons for this guildeline was to avoid interminable edit wars over the degree and significance of the results of battles. The talk page for the article will give some idea of what this could result in.

I will revert once again, to restore the article to correspond to the guidelines, as above. If you choose to continue to edit war, I will have no option but to refer the matter to the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. Since you appear to be operating as a single purpose account, they may take this into consideration. HLGallon (talk) 16:33, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
