Honestly I Didn't Know[edit]

I really, really did not know what a "meat puppet" was until another prior commentator posted something about meat puppets and then you popped in. Then after some time I understood: you a person with a red IP address is what is known as a meat puppet. Is that correct? Just asking.

About the Teutonic roots thing. I too have Teutonic roots and like to organize things much like AndyTheGrump but not with such vigor as he. I am the kind of guy that likes to call a spade a spade but prefer to use such couched phrases that the point sinks in more deeply. Zedshort (talk) 22:38, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Even the most cursory examination of my editing history would show that I am neither AndyTheGrump's meatpuppet, nor 'a red IP address' (which would be fine anyway). About the Teutonic roots thing. I am German, and your stereotypes are deeply offensive and insulting. Apparently you think nothing of suggesting that a whole nation is in some way genetically challenged, and that it's ok to use 'Teutonic' as an insult or description for someone who is overly controlling (and I agree with you that Andy is trying to be controlling). An apology or some indication that you realize that your use of the word 'Teutonic' was insensitive on the AfD page would be more than appropriate. 109a152a8a146 (talk) 17:03, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
With regards the "meat puppet" thing I apologize as it sprang from my understanding of the term and how such a thing is used. Your user name with the red and all confused me as someone who popped in to toss out their two bits and then disappear and delete their account. I hate to suggest this as you might feel I am telling you what to do but really, your username is confusing to newbies such as myself. Consider changing it to something more easily understood.
I apologize for the use of the saucy phrase and now know how stupid it was to use it and especially to allow myself to be manipulated by Andy and to allow my self to reach the point that my better angle was turned devilish and resorted to pointed words. It does no good to use such hot button phrases of any sort. It is rather like shouting; once the shouting starts the thinking is at an end. I apologize once again.
Now that I know that there is a conflict resolution process I will be able to stay cool and will in the future resort to those means to deal with bullies. I actually appreciate Andy's dedication to the cause of keeping things at Wikipedia in a meaningful form but his resort, in effect, of pushing and shoving people about needs to be stopped or restrained some way. I intend to pursue a complaint against him and will let the cards fall how they will with respect to my behavior.
I am not sure about removing my comments. Perhaps they should all stand as testimony to stupidity and how things can rage out of control in such a discussion if one is not careful. Perhaps I should add a comment and apology. Let me know how you think and feel. Sincerely Zedshort (talk) 17:14, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
AfD discussions bring out the best and the worst in editors; I know from experience. But Zed, you can't blame Andy for having manipulated you into crossing boundaries: do not stop taking responsibility in mid-point. As for the comments, what you can always do is strike them through with the <s>...</s> markup, like this. That's better than removing (which you can't do since it's been responded to) and "counts" as a realization that it shouldn't have been said. 109, I gather that you are satisfied?
