EIA

Hey Sig, a quickie: with regard to the beloved Editor Interaction Analyzer, are there any default restrictions to how close the edits must be together or how recent the edits must be for a result to be displayed? That's not a really well-phrased question, so I'll see if I can clarify: Looking here, there's no indication that these two users have intersections, but they clearly do here. One made edits in 2011, the other in 2008. What am I doing wrong, or better yet, what could I do right? Thank you sir, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:13, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Interesting proposition. As far as I remember (it's been a long time since I looked at the code) it only checks that the users have edit the same page at all. What you speak of is doable, but not yet implemented. Σσς(Sigma) 01:23, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Hi Sig, I must say, you've confused me. Firstly, I'm not a programmer, so I'm at a loss for any of the technical details, and I'm also not proposing anything--I'm reporting what looks to be a big problem with the software tool. As a gnome who is an admin, we rely very heavily on EIA to sniff out socks. There is a shortcoming here, and I don't know who else to go to to remedy it. Editors are interacting on the same page, but the EIA is not sniffing it out. Please help, this is one of the most important tools we have for sockpuppet investigations! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:01, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Oh, I see, I misunderstood. I'll look into that. Σσς(Sigma) 05:53, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks mucho! And I just realized that my last comment may have come across as pissy. That was not my intention and I beg your forgiveness. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:56, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Sig, have you had an opportunity to look at this at all? I had another SPI investigation today where the Editor Interaction Analyzer showed zero intersections despite having intersections:

And so on. Is the tool maybe only looking through the first 500 or so results? For instance in the first 500 results of Dani's Castle's edit history, there's no Cartman810, but Cartman810 can be found in the next set of 500. Could this be expanded by default, or could there be a clicky box to search a greater number of records? Just spit-ballin'. Many thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:35, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

It's still on my radar. It's just that this is hard to pinpoint. Σσς(Sigma) 05:57, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Moving comment up here I was trying to use the the Interaction Check ([1]) and it seems that it's not working properly. It doesn't seem to be picking up edits from a while back. For example, Carolmooredc and I interacted quite a bit, but since her ban she's been inactive... the interaction checker shows no interaction though ([2]). I asked on WP:VPT about it and Izno said that someone else had mentioned the issue as well and suggested I contact you. Any idea what's up? (Please ping me in reply). EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 23:24, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Oh, it seems you're already aware. EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 23:26, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
@EvergreenFir and Cyphoidbomb: I think I've fixed it. Can you verify? Σσς(Sigma) 00:47, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
On second thought, never mind that. I'll keep looking... Σσς(Sigma) 00:53, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
The report between me and Carolmooredc appears to work now. :) EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 01:00, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
The link I posted above as not working now works pretty good, I think. I'll report any weirdness if I see any. Thanks for the eyeballs on this! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:11, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Can't get archiving to work at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women's Health

For some reason, I can't seem to get automatic archiving to work at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women's Health. I've set it up on lots of other pages without any problems. Any idea what's wrong. My apologies if it's something obvious. Kaldari (talk) 04:01, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm coming here because I am unable to archive something, and I nevertheless answer to your question! Perhaps using capital H for "Women's Health" in parameter |archive = could help. Pldx1 (talk) 18:25, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

User space drafts

I've been looking over some userspace drafts and noticing that your still somewhat active decided I'd check if you still using them or if they had drifted into the ether of forgotten creations. Any thoughts on this, this and this. Happy to leave them but will tag them with the rest of the ones were working through (all 40000 and somewhat of them to see if they need to be kept or deleted). WikiCup 2016 March newsletter (update)

Along with getting the year wrong in the newsletter that went out earlier this week, we did not mention (as the bot did not report) that New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions) claimed the first Featured Article Persoonia terminalis of the 2016 Wikicup. Question about archiving

Hi. I'm in the process of moving comments on a /Comments subpage to the article talk page. Please see Talk:Beef#Assessment comment for an example. The comments may have a timestamp from a decade ago and I don't want it to become archived immediately because of this. But I'd rather not put my own signature to it because it could mislead people into thinking I made the comments. Would a timestamp with 5 tildes be recognised by the archiving bots? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:10, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Would a timestamp with 5 tildes be recognised by the archiving bots? Yes. Σσς(Sigma) 01:46, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Flagrantly biased Wikipedia article on murder victim Anni Hindocha

Hello. Are you the person who archived this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jimbo_Wales&diff=709788697&oldid=709766900 ? If so, why? Jimmy Wales expressed interest in getting this information, and archiving it I assume prevents him for even seeing it, let alone commenting on it.64.114.129.235 (talk) 22:05, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

FWIW, the thread in question is publicly viewable in the archive here. I'll let admins reading this page consider the information in that thread and take appropriate action with this WP:QUACKing sockpuppet. jcgoble3 (talk) 01:19, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

Issue with pages created tool

Hey, I found a bug with the Pages created list tool on tools.wmflabs.org, and judging by the page footer, it looks like you're the creator of the tool. In the article URLs, question marks are not properly escaped as %3F. In my own pages created list, the link to Have I Been Pwned? ends up actually going to Have I Been Pwned, since the unescaped question mark ends up getting ignored. -IagoQnsi (talk) 17:13, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Interesting, I'll give it a look.

NPP reform

Hi, Are you getting any closer to revealing the stats you said you would extrapolate for us? Time is getting short and a lot of people are now expecting something to move forward. I also need it as munition for my talk at Wikimania. There is a discussion here that you might find interesting because again I have tried to steer a discussion towards the solution of the need getting better qualified patrollers. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:28, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Wikimedia tool — User Contribution Search

Hello comrade!

The tool User Contribution Search at http://tools.wmflabs.org/sigma/usersearch.py is nice.

But it would be nicer, and more useful, with the option "Allow wildcards in page title (*)".

This option is off, and is greyed.

Can you please make this option available?

Thank you.

Cheers,

Nnemo

Wikimedia tool — Edits by user

Hello (again)

The Wikimedia tool "Edits by user" is very nice!

I have made the Wikipedia in french fr.wikipedia.org place a link to this tool from the history pages. This is very useful. For some people at the Wikipedia in french, having the tool speak french would be nicer. Can this be made? I speak french natively, I can provide the translations.

Thank you!

Cheers,

Nnemo
