Cameron Forni moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Cameron Forni, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Request reason:

I was totally honest on my connection to the company and I submitted a factual profile with supporting evidence. I did not mention anything that can be conceived as promotional and I did not include any subjective words. This is a notable public company and deserves to be on Wikipedia. I did this as a favor as this is not part of my work detail. I think my disclaimer may have been misunderstood. Yitzboy (talk) 16:10, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

So you helped Greenlane with SEO out of the goodness of your heart? What is your connection with them? You said "I was not paid for this entry." Are there entries that you have been paid for? SEO seems to be your field- how do we know when you are "on the clock" and "off the clock"?

Wikipedia does not have "profiles", not one, it has articles. (in fact "profiles" is a social media term typically used by marketers/SEO specialists) Wikipedia articles are not for merely providing factual information. A Wikipedia article summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about (in this case) a company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. Press releases, announcements of routine business activities, staff interviews, brief mentions, and other primary sources do not establish notability. Promotion is not just about subjective words, and you don't have to be selling something or soliciting customers; promotion is merely telling about something, which is not what Wikipedia articles are for. 331dot (talk) 20:31, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My position is to help them with robust site pages and quality content. I have never employed SEO black hat techniques. A Wikipedia entry is a badge of honor that you have become a notable company and it is not to be utilized as an SEO ploy. I would imagine that the overwhelming majority of company entries are submitted by someone who some vested interest in the listing. If you feel that they are undeserving of a Wikipedia entry and that the linked news stories were uncompelling, that is from your deep knowledge of how Wikipedia functions and that is difficult for a layman to fully grasp the breadth of news coverage required that would pass muster with the Wikipedia reviewers. Hope this provides clarification.Yitzboy (talk) 22:27, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You only need one open request at a time; subsequent comments should be standard, unformatted comments. 331dot (talk) 22:39, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So you work for Greenlane? 331dot (talk) 22:40, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am not employed by Greenlane. I work as a marketing consultant. I sense I am out of my league here and should not have offered my assistance here. They will need to hire a company that specializes in Wikipedia entries and will have the time and expertise for proper submission. Thanks for teaching me a hard lesson.
"A Wikipedia entry is a badge of honor" This is completely untrue, and this view needs to be comprehensively debunked so that everyone understands it. A Wikipedia article is written about a topic worthy of note to a worldwide audience, and people who think they are status symbols get upset quickly when they realise negative as well as positive information can be included if it satisfies the respective policies and guidelines. I do not believe you are here to write an encyclopedia, so I am turning your talk page access off. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 19:06, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Cameron Forni, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
