Technology report

I might not get anything in this week. I'm at the developers meetup where I'm involved with integrating OpenStreetMap into Wikipedia. Anyway, with so many of the developers here, I doubt there are as many bugs being resolved this week. But if you think there is enough material for this week and interested in writing up the tech report, feel free to do so. For next week, I could write up a special story about the meetup, along with the regular report next week. Cheers. --Aude (talk) 22:36, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

I'll take a look, see if there's enough. I wish I was there, but I'm a broke student and I don't have enough money to spare. Xclamation point 22:47, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into it for this week. As for coming to meetups and such, the Wikimania call for presentations is still open. It would be great to have a numerous technical sessions at Wikimania. If you have something you would like to present, submit it and there is the possibility of "scholarships" to help people attend. --Aude (talk) 23:12, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Your pages created tool

Hi there. Your pages created tool has a bug: If you select created pages from "Wikipedia"-namespace (probably from others too), it shows the pages, but the links don't include the "Wikipedia:" part. Regards SoWhy 13:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Re comment at Dwayne Craig Delmendo AFD

At this discussion, you said that "articles can't be speedied as hoaxes". I thought it was just suspected hoaxes that couldn't be speedied. If an article can be conclusively proven to be a hoax, can't it be deleted as pure vandalism? There were any number of ways to prove that that article was a hoax, and I tried to offer one.

Anyway, I was just wondering if you could clear up the policy for me. Thanks! Zagalejo^^^ 04:09, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it would be vandalism, and thus, G3. However, pages about hoaxes, or suspected hoaxes cannot be speedied. Hope this helps. Xclamation point 04:10, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks for the reply. Zagalejo^^^ 04:11, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey there! I noticed you closed the AfD above as "no consensus"...which, at the same time, I relisted for a more thorough consensus. Thoughts? Cheers. I'mperator 01:22, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Gah...mistake on my part; ignore the above :P But in the future, how do you decide when to relist for more thoughts or when to close as no consensus? Cheers. I'mperator 01:27, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Relisting usually happens when there is very little participation, or an article was cleaned up with little time for opposers to reconsider. If an AfD has a large amount or participation, relisitng will usually just extend the mix of keep/deletes, so it is just closed as NC. Xclamation point 01:56, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! Cheers. I'mperator 17:08, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Like the feature. But one of them is showing as expired but it has a few hours to go yet. Could you fix it? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:12, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
That's intentional. Because it usually takes crats a few hours to respond to an expired RfA, I added a few hours so it gets attention right abotu the expiry date. Roxsed39 (talk) 01:01, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

RfA Report

Hello X!,

I'm not sure if this is irregular, but SoxBot has recently been marking RfAs pink on the RfA report before they are due to be closed. This has resulted in some confusion, and a few RfXs have been closed several hours early as a result. It may be best if you were to fix this, if possible. Best, —Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:09, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Edit counter

Hi, I'm considering switching WP:POPUPS to use http://toolserver.org/~soxred93/count/ because it's the best tool atm in my opinion. it would however be terribly handy, if instead of lang/wiki, i could specify dbname instead in the url, that makes the code a lot simpler and allow me to use simpler code that can more easily work with the other edit counter URLs, if users choose so. Please let me know. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 09:46, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

bot idea....

Would you be interested in creating a bot for me? It would be very useful to have a simple bot-generated chart showing all currently open AfDs. It is very difficult to keep up with which articles have been nominated for deletion. Even articles I have bookmarked can slip through the AfD cracks without my knowledge. A chart like this would allow users to quickly peruse all the article titles in open AfDs, giving them a much easier way to participate in AfDs related to topics of their interest.

The bot could find all articles that contain "REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD" and list them on a chart with links to their AfDs, and grouped by date of nomination. The chart could be placed on a special page, or users could add the chart to their own userpages. I've created a brief, incomplete example of a chart at User:Kingturtle/temp.

If you're not interested, could you recommend someone who might be? Thanks, Kingturtle (talk) 14:05, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

That would certainly be possible. As soon as I'm finished with my current programming project, I'll get started on it. Xclamation point 16:00, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Not to be rude, but your edit counter soxred93 is magnificent. May I suggest you add another tool called "images uploaded", to show what images have been deleted. South Bay (talk) 05:19, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Wikipedia:RAIN

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:RAIN, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- IRP 17:50, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
