Reply to question in User talk:Cassiopeia asked 01:39, 22 August 2022[edit]

Hello, @Richie12rich, this is WPEditor42,

I'm not completely sure what were asking Cassiopeia, but if you're asking how to update the name of the main subject in an article, I'm also happy to help you! Here's how:

Before you change the name of a person on an article, make sure there are reliable sources confirming the name change, and that the new name is used frequently in these reliable sources. See WP:UCRN. Otherwise, you should not rename the page until the new name starts being used frequently in reliable sources.

If you want to change the name of the subject in an article about a person, go to the article, click "More", then click "Move". Under "New title", enter the new name, explain in the "Reason" text box that the subject changed their name, then click "Move page".

After you move (rename) the page, update the person's name in the article itself by replacing instances of the old name with the new name. Then, state the previous name(s) after the current name in the article's lead and infobox, with the birth name being stated first. Cite reliable sources confirming the name change, and after you're done making the changes in the page, explain in the edit summary that the subject changed their name and that you've added reliable sources confirming that (e.g. "Updated name and added citations to the reliable sources confirming the name change").
