Hartnell

Allegations of anti-Semitism and racism came from co stars that worked with Hartnell like Nicholas Courtney and Anneke Wills - they're not smears. Nobody's saying he was a bad person, or definitely a racist, or anything like that - I have a great deal admiration for Hartnell, but it still just isn't right for the Wikipedia article to delete information this way.

Besides, we have allowed controversy and accusations of racism surrounding other beloved celebrities on here, as well as their defenders, such as Wayne, Disney, and Churchill. If the Hartnell allegations are considered not noteworthy enough, we should still take into consideration the first hand sources surrounding them and debate on whether they are notable enough. 79.69.227.38 (talk) 09:53, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

I have taken it to the talk page to see if we can reach a consensus on this matter. Talk:William_Hartnell#Alleged_racism 79.69.227.38 (talk) 11:28, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch revision.

Hello,

I'm messaging you about my edits that you undid for the Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch page. Is there a reason you did this? The only edits I made were in correcting grammatical errors, so why would those be undone? Atlas 184 (talk) 05:50, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

@Atlas 184: As stated in my edit summary, Wikipedia does not use punctuation before quotations unless used in the direct quote (per MOS:PUNCT#Punctuation before quotations). They were not grammatical errors. – Rhain 10:40, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

Huh, I don’t know why Wikipedia does that because that doesn’t make any sense. It makes many articles seem to have incorrect grammar when done that way. 206.174.8.10 (talk) 11:44, 4 March 2020 (UTC) 206.174.8.10 (talk) 11:44, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

It's not incorrect grammar, it's just a specific style of punctuation. Both are technically correct. – Rhain 12:04, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
This site doesn't make sense then. In the U.S., periods and commas are inside quotation marks, while in the U.K., for example, they're on the outside. Which means the English portion of Wikipedia should incorporate both, not just one style, which would make my edits correct. I know you don't make the rules, I just don't get the site's direction in this. Atlas 184 (talk) 14:03, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
That's not necessarily true; check out WP:LQUOTE for more information on Wikipedia's standpoint. – Rhain 14:09, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
In the matter of "soulmate," vs "soulmate", the applicable guideline is not MOS:PUNCT#Punctuation before quotations (which is about punctuation before the quote itself) but MOS:LQ. Put simply: does the material that is quoted include punctuation? If not, then it is incorrect to add punctuation that was not present in the source. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:19, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
Here is a link from an educational source discussing commas and periods for quotation marks: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/punctuation/quotation_marks/more_quotation_mark_rules.html Atlas 184 (talk) 08:49, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
@Atlas 184: Thank you, but that rule still does not apply to Wikipedia. – Rhain 09:26, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
@Rhain: Cool, glad to know that using correct grammar will still be "incorrect" on this site, despite both styles being right. Atlas 184 (talk) 09:33, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
I don't make the rules. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ – Rhain 09:52, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

The Last of Us Part II

Everything that I edited to include in the development section of this page is accurate. I’ll add sources and re-edit. thanks for undoing this work immediately although everything I’ve updated is factual and is publicly available knowledge. This information also comes from interviews with Neil, Kurt, and Anthony.

https://www.gamesradar.com/the-last-of-us-co-creator-knows-naughty-dogs-multiplayer-plans-promises-that-its-extremely-ambitious/

“Naughty Dog confirmed last week that its upcoming sequel would not include the series' celebrated Factions multiplayer mode, later clarifying that it's now being developed as a separate spin-off beyond The Last of Us 2’s release....”

Naughty Dog’s Twitter update: https://twitter.com/Naughty_Dog/status/1177392945458286595/photo/1

Therefore, the multiplayer was NOT cancelled as the page incorrectly states, but rather, it is merely not being included with the game, but will be a separate project. I was only trying to add and update this information.

Whatever — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:6C55:7980:2A0E:2514:1A85:9A14:9B6D (talk) 07:20, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

The article is meant to be about The Last of Us Part II; we don't need that much information about the online component, and there's also been no confirmation that it will be released as a "spin-off". What's included in the article currently is more than enough. – Rhain 10:42, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

The Last of Us Part II: Re: Re

Gamesradar:

“ Naughty Dog confirmed last week that its upcoming sequel would not include the series' celebrated Factions multiplayer mode, later clarifying that it's now being developed as a separate spin-off beyond The Last of Us 2’s release date of February 21, 2020.”

LATER CLARIFYING THAT IT’S NOW BEING DEVELOPED AS A SEPARATE SPIN-OFF...........

ND’s tweet, quote:

“We wanted to address multiplayer in The Last of Us Part II. As we’ve stated, the single player campaign is far and away the most ambitious project Naughty Dog has ever undertaken. Likewise, as development began on the evolution of our Factions mode from The Last of Us Part I, the vision of the team grew beyond an additional mode that could be included with our enormous single player campaign.”.......”However, you will eventually experience the fruits of our team’s online ambition, but not as pat of The Last of Us Part II. When and where it will be realized is still to be determined. But rest assured, we are as big a fan of Factions as the rest of our community and are excited to share more when it’s ready.”

This CONFIRMS it IS FACTIONS, it WILL NOT BE RELEASED WITH PART II, but rather, separately, at an unknown date.

SO AS THE PAGE LISTS, MP IS NOT CANCELLED!!!!

https://www.gamesradar.com/the-last-of-us-co-creator-knows-naughty-dogs-multiplayer-plans-promises-that-its-extremely-ambitious/

Bruce Straley, quote: “I know the team very well & trust them thoroughly! I also know what they’re working on & can attest that SP & MP are both EXTREMELY ambitious.” ....”All we ever strived to do at ND was deliver the best experiences we possibly could. This sometimes meant moving around staff in order to deliver on our own promises. And if that means MP is delayed for a bit this time around, well I can guarantee it’s for good reasons.”

As I am sure you are aware, Bruce was involved with Part II until 2017. He’s publicly confirming that MP exists, it is delayed due to resource shifts, and was developed alongside SP. ND confirmed this via their own public tweet as I outlined above..............

is this so difficult? Is this difficult to comprehend? While I understand that we know very little, this public-facing information regarding FACTIONS and its future, clearly outlines that, at the very least:

-It is Factions -It was developed alongside Part II, until development shifted entirely to SP -It will not be included in Part II -It will be released at a later date

No need for aggression. The "spin-off" comment is GamesRadar's, not Naughty Dog's, so there's no official word there. "It will not be included in Part II" is enough reason to not go into further detail; once more information is available, I'm sure it may warrant its own article (or section within Part II's article, if that's where things ultimately lead—nothing has been announced yet) where the information can be included. – Rhain 22:21, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Huge Mistake with GTA series information

I understand the reversion to the article on GTA 3, but I noticed a huge mistake with all articles on the game series when they state what installment they are. For some unknown reason, they seem to denote games as a particular entry in the series, starting with 3 being the 5th title. However, I believe they are confusing GTA London 1969 and 61 as games. They are more stand-alone expansions, the latter a freeware title, and not technically a main game of the series. GUtt01 (talk) 14:28, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

@GUtt01: I see your point, but "stand-alone expansions" are technically games of their own; an exception would be, say, Grand Theft Auto Online, which as an extension of Grand Theft Auto V (whereas Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, while technically a "stand-alone expansion" of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, is still its own game). Grand Theft Auto III is the third main game, but technically the fifth installment. That being said, it's totally unnecessary, so I don't think it warrants inclusion anyway.
On a side note, your recent changes to the article's lead section seem unnecessary: for some reason, you've removed links to action-adventure game, DMA Design, and Rockstar Games, and removed all mention of Claude; the mention of DMA's rebranding is unnecessary to the development of the game; some of your phrasing ("forcing the team to delay the game's release as a result") reads far less concise than the original version ("The game was delayed following..."); you've ignored the WP:VG/LEAD guideline that I linked in my edit summary; the enhanced version is not a "port" so your change to phrasing is confusing; and you've introduced several typos. The article has undergone a rigorous GA review, so I'm not sure what the intention of such significant changes are. – Rhain 14:45, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
But under this argument, I would question whether mission packs are stand-alone games. Based on what you say about Online, I would think Mission Packs are merely expansions of the original game, and not techincally a game in itself. I would accept expansion packs that are stand-alone title being able to be their own game, but I question this factor in those two packs I mentioned (particularly 1961, which isn't listed, and was, as I stated, Freeware.) GUtt01 (talk) 15:08, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough. This seems like a conversation for Talk:Grand Theft Auto or WT:VG. I don't think the number needs to be included, in any case. – Rhain 15:34, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Just a side note - If you mentioned to me that detailing Liberty City Stories as a prequel to GTA 3 is not required in the Lead for that article, wouldn't it be hypocritical of you to allow the line about GTA:VC's prequel to be mentioned in the Lead for that article? GUtt01 (talk) 16:05, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
I changed my mind. I think it fits. – Rhain 16:09, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Approve of it. Figured it was wrong to argue that, and then see it done for another article on another game of the series. GUtt01 (talk) 16:35, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Currently, I don’t think so. Perhaps the second game will spark enough commentary to create a separate article, but we’ll have to wait and see. However, multiple appearances do not automatically grant notability; it just depends what content is written after the game is released. – Rhain 11:59, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Note

Johnson talking about game publishers is relevant to Druckmann's statement about game packaging (not Ellie's character development, neither of these are about Ellie's "character" development actually). It doesn't make much sense going from design and physical comparisons to a real life person to the inclusion of female characters on game covers without any clarification (also, pay attention to the repetitiveness: "The development team felt that", "felt that", "The team felt that"...) As for Page, the quote I've included literally doesn't say that she accused the developers, so why mention it when you removed the word yourself? What is the point? I think this is just a waste of time. Next time, avoid edit warring. It seems like you are in trouble with it lately. −αΣn=1NDi[n][Σj∈C{i}Fji[n − 1]+Fexti[(n^−1)] 01:31, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Johnson's statement is about game covers in general; Druckmann's is specific to Ellie's placement on the game's packaging, which is more relevant to the character design. That paragraph specifically is about the physical appearance of the character, to which the cover is relevant—admittedly, not the strongest relevance, but having an entire paragraph on that minor point seems worse to me. Page said that the developers "ripped off [her] likeness": that's an accusation. My rephrasing was primarily for the tense change: from "ripping off [her] likeness" to "ripped off [her] likeness". Not entirely sure that you have a leg to stand on when giving edit warring advice, but will do. – Rhain 02:14, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
