Reply on my cadidancy[edit]

I my talk page you left some questions and criticism on my candidacy to the wikiboard, I have replied there but wish to also reply here for your convinience:

# Yes, in the sense that I will take the responsibilities and tasks of the position seriously, as I do other volunteer engagements, both current and past, in my life. But one thing that does make me different formt he usual candidates is that I do not confuse this seriousness of task with a seirousness of personality. After all, wikis are fun. We must have fun. And fun can be had, in all seriousness, with all seriousness.
# Presisely because I understand this fact behind the Wikimedia Foundation is because I raise that point. To date, the geogrpahical diversity of the board has been lacking. As a Puerto Rican raised in Puerto Rico by a mixed set of parents, I am keenly aware of the divide between the global south and the global north and live between the two cultures, such perspective I belive would be an asset.
Now, this might seem shocking to you, but it at least elicited a reaction which can elicit a dialogue, and if this dialogue leads to your supporting a candidate who supports my views, or better, leads you to support me, then I think I would reach my objectives.--Cerejota 01:46, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Norwegian split infinitive[edit]

Hi Jon. I saw you deleted the link to the Norwegian split infinitive article on the grounds that it is on a different subject. Just for the interest and edification of those of us who don't read Norwegian could you possibly put a note on talk:Split infinitive explaining what it is about? Actualy, I was wrong. I followed a link to kløyvd infinitiv, which was a redirect to splittinfinitiv. Splittinfinitiv is the same as split infinitive, but kløyvd infinitiv is not. In other words, the redirect was wrong, not the interwikis, so I have reveretd myself. In case you were wondering, kløyvd infinitiv is a part of Norwegian dialectal studies, about whether infinitives end in -e or -a. Jon Harald Søby 11:05, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delete[edit]

Hi! Only admins can delete articles; if an article should clearly be deleted, write {{db|spam, vandalism, etc}} in it. If you want an article to be deleted when it isn't obvious that it should, you should bring it up on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Articles that are copied from other sites aren't allowed, unless those sites specifically say that the articles are licensed under the GFDL or a public domain license. It depends on what kind of page it is. If the page says something like "This or that guy is gay!" or "ahfjuhafyigadfyibq23571893591375y gayisfgut6q3 b5b31256g81g35kib afs8y6g" or "Testing testing", then that is vandalism. If it looks like an advertisement for a product or a website (or something else), it is spam. If there is another reason (I can't think of any right now; lousy imagination (thanks, TV)) it should obviously be deleted, just explain why between | and }}. I'm not sure if anyone have mentioned this to you, but if you read Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages#Images, it makes it very clear that no images should be used on signatures, for a variety of reasons. BlankVerse 07:37, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sortable?[edit]

Well, it would be good if the status field was systematic, which (to me) it doesn't seem to be. Anyways, the cons (loading time) outweigh the pros IMO. Jon Harald Søby 17:39, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's supposed to become systematic :) I was unaware that a sortable table has greater loading time? I believe the sorting code is part of the standard package and doesn't do anything until you actually click on sort, but maybe I have a fast connection so I'm not noticing a difference? >Radiant< 09:02, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the loading time only occurs when you try to sort it. I've learned that the sortable format is only useful on a (relatively) narrow array of lists, but on those lists, it can be immensely valuable. On other lists, however, it seems pretty useless to me. Hi! The CSS was defined to show the flags outside of the page; the flags showed up some 200px below the end of the page, and a bit to the right of its right border (if you know what I mean). Firefox here too. I've tried reincorporating the flags using the table rather than the position:relative/absolute etc; seems okay in IE6 here. Ditto for you...?  David (talk) 08:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
