Welcome![edit]

Hello, JNIP HEG, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Your submission at Articles for creation[edit]

Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you are more than welcome to continue submitting work to Articles for Creation.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

problems[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I accepted the article, but I first removed some considerable amount of material copied from the journal website. particularly the list of aims. You could explicitly license the rights to the material according to our licensing, using the CC-BY-SA and the GNU licenses, as explained in WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:Donating copyrighted materials; be aware that these licenses give everyone in the world an irrevocable license to reuse and alter the material, even for commercial purposes. However, I do not advise it, for it would be much better to rewrite the section in a much briefer way, using the site only as a reference. I also made minor revisions to match our usual style--I'm one of the people here who most often works on journal articles.

There is another problem:

Since the name you have used includes or refers to the subject of the article, you must choose another username. As explained in WP:USER, only individuals may edit. When you have a username that is or includes the name of your organization, you imply that you are editing officially, and have a superior right to edit the page. But that is not the way WP works--all editors are considered equal--and your contributions like those of any editor must be justified by sources. I'm sure you do not intend to give such impression, but that's why we have the rule. Therefore, please choose another name. On that user page, you should disclose your conflict of interest. Hello, I am admin support staff working on behalf of Dr. Howard E. Gendelman. He has asked that I remove the following warning flags on the Wikipedia entry about him. But I do not know where to start. Can you advise how I can resolve his request? Thank you! Below are the flags on the page: Howard E. Gendelman

This article may be in need of reorganization to comply with Wikipedia's layout guidelines. (December 2021) This article is an autobiography or has been extensively edited by the subject or by someone connected to the subject. (December 2021) This article or section contains close paraphrasing of a non-free copyrighted source, https://www.unmc.edu/pharmacology/faculty/primary-faculty/gendelman/index.html. (February 2022)

The tags("warning flags") will be removed when an independent editor has examined the article to see if the issues have been resolved/addressed. There is nothing that you or Dr. Gendleman can do to speed up the process. Is there a particular reason he is concerned about the maintenance tags? You may offer formal edit requests on the article talk page, Talk:Howard E. Gendelman, detailing changes you feel are needed. Please review the other posts on this page- you must change your username, you may do so at Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS. You must also review WP:COI and WP:PAID; the Terms of Use require you to formally declare paid editing. 331dot (talk) 16:40, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! This is very helpful information. Below I am adding a disclosure of my relationship to the UNMC-PEN Dept. that is chaired by Dr. Howard E. Gendelman. This Wikipedia user account was used by my predecessor on the administrative staff of the department to provide updates to the JNIP Wikipedia page as JNIP was previously edited by Dr. Gendelman. Apologies for our delay in the disclosure/transparency, and thanks for your kind feedback and assistance!

  • Note that going forward, only you should exclusively operate this account; you may not give others access. Any successor to your position will need to create their own account. 331dot (talk) 17:52, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
