QUESTION RE STAVROS BROTHERS ARTICLE (JUST DELETED)
Hi. Just noticed that my just-created article for the band Stavros Brothers has been deleted. I'm not sure why - the band is legitimate, is part of the Melbourne music scene, has released a CD and has played live shows. I was not able to, as suggested, add the 'hangon' tag to the article because it has already been deleted.
Any follow-up would be much appreciated. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Schmozzle (talk • contribs) 13:20, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Redirecting
Hey! I am writing about UYDO and I see you redirected the UYDO page to United Youth Development Organization - first of all: Thank You :). Secondly, I was wondering how I change the original page from Uydo to UYDO (ie, all capitals)?? Regards... Question
Hi. I know you're an administrator, so I hope you can answer this question: Do I have to have been on Wikipedia for a certain amount of time in order to be a good article reviewer? --Hadger 18:25, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- If you can (I don't expect you to), please answer that question as soon as possible. I'm not trying to rush you, by the way, so don't worry. --Hadger 23:17, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, I have another question. How come this user and this user are blocked indefinitely? Jondavis142 didn't make any edits (not even in the Abuse Filter, if I'm not mistaken) and 85hypnotoad only made one edit (which is deleted, but I'm still confused). --Hadger 19:22, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I think I get it... Pages they created were deleted, so those edits aren't shown. --Hadger 19:24, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

With regard to MisterWiki
Is it worthwhile adding MisterWiki's restrictions (i.e. MisterWiki is to be checkusered regularly to make sure he uses no undeclared socks, and is to be re-blocked for even a single use thereof. Also, no talking to newbies, because he's too BITE-y) to Wikipedia:Editing restrictions#Placed by the Wikipedia community? I am also going to send this message to Drini, as the admin with whom MisterWiki made this agreement. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 21:23, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- With the approval of yourself and Drini, I have added an entry to Wikipedia:Editing restrictions (see here), detailing the conditions which MisterWiki has accepted. I would be grateful if you could have a quick look at it to ensure that it is accurate. Thanks! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 01:47, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

I am sorry for my excessive use of my user pages, I did not know that they were causing any problems. Where may I download a free MediaWiki interface for my computer? Also, how do I delete these pages and any of my user pages that I've used as drafts for creating new pages? Rik (talk) 20:23, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Spacing Question
Your opinion, please. I've been getting rid of double spaces in long articles, but have recently discovered it doesn't affect how the article appears. Is it still good to make everything single spaced, or is it a waste of bandwith making those edits? -WarthogDemon 05:39, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
Hello DragonflySixtyseven! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 35 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Jeff Bowler - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Jan Strnad - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

In the end I think I got fed up of unconstructive criticism and sidelined the project; it's somewhat stamina-sapping so it's ended up pretty low on my list of priorities. I can't remember the details of how I left it, in the end. If I were to resurrect the project it would probably be in a less ambitious "start from scratch" fashion. On my talk page, you are apparently referring to Tolu Ajayi. Nine of his books are listed in worldcat, a very useful place to search for basic info on an author. The two that I have checked so far are both held by the NY Public library and several other major libraries, so anyone who visits one of those libraries or uses inter-library loan can at least source to an "about the author" section. In short this was not unverifiable, merely unverified. I have restored since your stated reason for deletion does not apply, and am adding source notes. DES (talk) 17:51, 20 January 2010 (UTC) Copied from User talk:DESiegel.
- I think i have found the original source that was used to write this: http://www.scribd.com/doc/11573530/Student-Encyclopedia-of-African-Literature (p 55). Check it out. This is listed in Google books, by the way, although i found it on a straight Google search. And check out the current state of the article. DES (talk) 18:46, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello. I'm concerned about your summary deletion of the article Jatapurgovia. It appears that you decided it must be a hoax because it was referred to in a story by Stanislaw Lem. Let me say that I'm not an expert in Armenian prehistory, so I can't say whether it actually is a hoax, but it seemed to be well sourced and simply being mentioned in a work of fiction doesnt make it fictional. After all, one of Lem's stories refers to building a tunnel through the star Betelguese. The tunnel presumably is fictitious, the star is not! I really think you should have put the article up for AFD and let experts decide whether or not it was valid. In fact I propose that you restore it and AFD it. Then if it turns out that it is indeed bogus you can issue the author with a block rather than a mild rebuke. Rhomb (talk) 07:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Rhomb (talk) 22:19, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing that. The disappointing but perhaps unsurprising result is that we now know that it's a hoax and I think that puts you in a position to go further with the author, who's clearly not here to build an encyclopaedia. Rhomb (talk) 09:23, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Hans Frei
this article, which you deleted this morning, raises what i think to be an interesting question: is it copyright violation when the creator of the article is the owner of the copyright? as i pointed out in the discussion, the aricle was essentially verbatim (aside from my edits, i listed his death date, and deleted an excessively sentimental paragraph.) from a book on the subject by h.g. mathys, the subject's granddaughter. but h.g. mathys was the creator of the article. i think we can be quite sure that her intent was simply to tell her granddad's story in another venue, and that she would never come after wp for copyright infringement. the book, which was apparently self or vanity press published, may not even be copyrighted. bear in mind, my interest in the guy extends only to the fact that i own a piece of his work. now, while he was hardly a 20th century donatello, i think he is sufficiently notable to warrant inclusion here. it may be that her only failure was to include the licence statement.Toyokuni3 (talk) 17:25, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Can i ask why you deleted my userpage, which was a work in progress? And can you define exactly why it was inappropriate for a user page... Seriously that was really uncool its not as if it was evena public page ready to go live. Do you have any idea how much work of mine you just erased?? - Looking at the deleted revision, that appears to be promotional and not necessarily notable. For what it is worth, User:Wavecal22/SusanMCampbell may not pass Wikipedia:Bio#Creative_professionals, and the image seems to be an outright copyvio. -- Avi (talk) 02:05, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- I have offered to e-mail the deleted content to Wavecal22. I agree that SusanMCampbell may fail WP:Bio, but it might be a good idea to give Wavecal22 a chance to copy it off-line before proceeding with the deletion process. Rje (talk) 02:30, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

"Best of the Best Vol 1. Deletion
Hi, I noticed that the article for the W.A.S.P. compilation album "The Best of the Best, 1984-2000, Vol. 1" was deleted by you back in August of 2008. The original url was at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Best_of_the_Best:_1984-2000,_Vol._1&action=edit&redlink=1
I was wondering why specifically it was deleted (not notable, not verifiable, whatever). I couldn't find any discussion of it in your archived talk pages, so I'm not sure if this has already come up before. Since I'm not able to view the original page I'm not sure what needed to be changed in order to make it worth keeping (assuming that it was, which is why I'm asking. Maybe it just isn't worth having an article on that album?) If you can remember what the issue was with this page, I'd be happy to look into and address whatever was wrong with it. Dexeron (talk) 17:13, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- I deleted it because it was just a tracklist. There was no content. It didn`t say anything about who it was by or anything like that. Feel free to make a new version. DS (talk) 21:31, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Template talk:MC Hammer
You deleted Template talk:MC Hammer with the deletion reason of "not a forum". A) this is not a valid reason under the speedy deletion criteria. b) the template is a navigation template listing various articles about performances by MC Hammer. Therefore a mention of a specific performance could be an attempt (albeit poorly formatted) to fill in allegedly missing information, and thus an appropriate use of a talk page. DES (talk) 15:56, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- A) Damn well is. B) Point taken; I'll restore it. DS (talk) 15:58, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- a) Which specific one of the WP:CSD does "Not a forum" translate to, please? I can't see it as fitting any of them. Perhaps i am overlooking something. It would, of course, often be a valid reason at WP:MFD. b) Thank you. DES (talk) 16:03, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
You deleted Studio 1 Photography with a log reason of "notability not asserted" which i assume translates to WP:CSD#A7. however it seems to me that "...was featured as Utah's best wedding photographer on a budget." constitutes a claim of significance, even if it does not go all the way to establishing notability, making an A7 speedy incorrect. deletion of User:Doxiedana
You deleted User:Doxiedana with the log entry "Silliness". The page was indeed silly, but that is emphatically not a valid speedy deletion reason, and other far sillier user pages have been kept by MfD. Please restore this page promptly. DES (talk) 14:42, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Deletion of Versicolorin reductase
You deleted Versicolorin reductase with the log entry "not an article". The content looks to have been a description of a particular enzyme in a rather outline form. It would need significant work to be a decent article, and it is possible that an AfD would delete it as non-notable. But The information might well be used to create a reasonable article, and WP:PRESERVE should apply here. In any case, "not an article" is in no way a speedy deletion criterion. You deleted Ska vegaswith a deletion log reason of "unverifiable". It had been proded earlier the same daym if I am reading the historty correctly. Talk page redirects
I notice that in several cases you deleted talk page redirects (in cases where a page and its talk page had been moved or merged, mostly) as "unnecessary redirect". While it is true that such redirs are not strictly needed, according to WP:Redirect and WT:Redirect the cost of updating the page tables and watch lists due to the deletion is higher than the cost of leaving the redirect in place, and such redirs surely do no harm. I don't suggest restoring any such you have deleted, but I do suggest considering not deleting any such redirs in future. DES (talk) 20:34, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Your out-of-process deletions
Your recent deletions appear to be directly counter to the explicit wording of consensus based policy written at WP:CSD.
The criteria for speedy deletion specify the only cases in which administrators have broad consensus support to, at their discretion, bypass deletion discussion and immediately delete Wikipedia pages or media. They cover only the cases specified in the rules below.
Would you please stop, or explicitly cite the CSD criteria you use. Such bursts of out-of-process deletions is bad for the project because it undermines the role of WP:MFD, and hurts the confidence of the ordinary editor that this project is community governed. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 14:18, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Talk:Imagines
You deleted Talk:Imagines with a deletion reason of "wrong language". It is true that talk page discussion is normally in English. This might be a reason to request the poster to translate the comment, but it is not a reason to delte the page. It does not correspond top any of the WP:CSD, and this deletion was therefore out of process. it is also unhelpful, and probably WP:BIIEy, given that this is an IP user who appears to be new. Please restore this page. DES (talk) 14:21, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- I looked at it more carefully, I went through various translators... it's pretty much a love note to the contributor's girlfriend, placed on Wikipedia just because. In other words: no, I will not. DS (talk) 14:46, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- Had you chosen to indicate the actual reason for deletion in the log (something like "attempt to communicate", since you seem to dislike the actual CSD reasons), this exchange would probably not have occurred. Log entries matter. And checking the deletions of an admin who appears very willing to delete whatever the admin chooses, without reference to the CSD or to anyone else, seems quite worth while to me. Many, indeed most, of your deletions are IMO well-judged, but a significant number are not. You also routinely delete without notifying the page creators, which is more than a bit WP:BITEy IMO, and also fails to educate editors who are often in need of guidance, and goes against the wide consensus that such notification is highly desirable, although not mandatory. Also, your comment above suggests that when you deleted this, you had not translated it and knew only that it was not in English, which is not a good reason for deleting it. An expanded version of the response on my talk page. DES (talk) 16:53, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Deletion of Talk:Tres Personajes
You deleted Talk:Tres Personajes with a logged reason of "test page". The actual text was
according to Google translate this is Spanish for:
This is ridiculous.
I can not find anything important in the work over the Internet because every website, in Spanish or English, is the story of the work deseperacido.
I have to know about the symbols and the use of colors and there is nothing helpful.
This seems to be a suggestion that the article on the painting include more about the painting itself, whereas it currently focuses entirely on the theft of the painting.
Please consider restoring this page. DES (talk) 17:02, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- No. That's a homework question (and, admittedly, 'test page' was not the correct reason). Talk page and email blocks
Hi DragonflySixtyseven. I've unblocked Lianavdelningen (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) who you blocked in January as a spammer. They appealed to unblock-en-l and I'm pretty certain that they're not a spammer. They just didn't realise that posting their own website links to their userpage was problematic and would be taken as spamming and they've assured me it won't happen again. They said they've been using Wikipedia regularly for reading for a long time but they only discovered their account was blocked a few days ago when they found an error in an article and signed into their account with the intention of fixing the article. I told them I didn't think the block was unreasonable given their only edit was to post external links to their userpage. However, I noticed that you also blocked their ability to use email and to edit their own talk page and I don't understand why. I think those settings are only meant to be used carefully in cases involving people likely to abuse access to their talk page or the email facility and I can't see any reason to believe that person would have abused communication tools. So I was just wondering why you blocked their talk page and email? Thanks. Sarah 01:57, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Spammers would be likely to abuse talkpage and e-mail, is why. However, in retrospect I seem to have been thinking of someone else. That wasn't what I categorize as 'spam'; I'll have to apologize. DS (talk) 02:01, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Copyvio deletion log entries
When you delete a page as a copyvio, it would be helpful to note the URL or source in the log entry. this makes things easier for a patroller if the page is recreated later -- it points to a place to check. It also helps if the user complains to another editor. DES (talk) 02:21, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Question re deleted article on the "Two-factor model"
I found a reference to an article titled "Two-factor model" in the "desired articles" list of the Business and Economics Project, and I see that you deleted it 02:13, 9 May 2009, with the parenthetical comment "crap." If the latter is an assessment of the entry's quality, I'm strongly inclined not to doubt it! Nevertheless, I'd like to see what was there, in the hope it would provide some idea of the original intention of whoever originally suggested the topic. (The topic itself is a legitimate and potentially important one, depending on its original intent.)
If you could somehow "uncrap" it so I could take a look at it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Absolutely nothing urgent, though! Thanks. --Jackftwist (talk) 22:32, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. No, I don't think I need to see it. Your assessment ("crap") sounds far too generous! Too bad -- as I said, it's a potentially important topic for this project. Thx again. --Jackftwist (talk) 23:09, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Jenni Muldaur deletion
I know it's been a while, but can you recall (or look up) why the Jenni Muldaur page that you deleted on 15 December 2007 constituted a copyright violation? While I can easily imagine photographs or song lyrics that would comprise copyright violations on a singer's biographical page, I'm curious to know why the page was deleted entirely and not merely trimmed of the offending material. Hi DF67!
Very late but very sincere thank you for granting me autoreviewer rights. Quite frankly I'm as proud of this as of my off-wiki achievements. Yep, I really do think so.
As they are apparently an endangered species, I can't offer you the Southern Marsupial Mole-shaped Barnstar. I'm sure your fellow admin Moonriddengirl will be more than happy to share hers with you.

Thanks again! - --Shirt58 (talk) 12:50, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

RE: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=St._Augustine%27s_House
I'm not the person who originally wrote the St. Augustine's House article, nor have I ever contributed to it. So I have no ax to grind, here, or anything like that. I'm not upset about anything, or trying to hold anyone accountable. It's nothing like that.
I'm simply wondering, if I may, why the article was deleted. I don't, frankly, remember the article, to be candid; though I'm certain I must have visited it and read it in the past because I know much of the monastery (and, I promise you, I do not have any formal affiliation with it whatsoever). I don't know if the article was just a stub and someone decided it wasn't important or something, or if it was fully developed but violated some kind of rule, or what. Again, I'm not trying to question anyone's wisdom.
May I please know, though, why it was deleted? I mean... you know... in a little bit of detail? To save you the trouble (because I know you're busy), is there a discussion log or something someplace where I might read what happened? Is there a copy of the article somewhere that I can see? Maybe it could be put into my sandbox or something so I can see it. Would that be possible?
If it turns out that there has been a misunderstanding; or if whatever was wrong with it is something that could be fixed, might it be possible for a new article to be written which will be acceptable? The monastery, for whatever it's worth, is real. It has the support of all the mainstream denominationally-Lutheran church bodies in the US; is "good friends" with the Benedictine (Catholic) monastery just down the road; and has affiliate Lutheran monasteries in Europe which are also supported by their respective countries' mainline denominationally-Lutheran church bodies.
Granted, the monastery is tiny (though not so much in terms of the size of the property... that part of it is actually quite large); but so are many well-regarded and honest-to-goodness monasteries in the world. Believe me, though, it's well-known throughout the world.
And St. Augustine's House is unique in that it's decidedly Benedictine in both the way it's run, and in its strict observance of the Liturgy of the Hours; yet, curiously, that very thing flies in the face of what Martin Luther believed about monastacism and holy orders (he considered them unnecessary... even wrong). That that has been reconciled to the satisfaction of Lutherans and Catholics alike is part of what makes it remarkable.
Also, just to be clear: St. Augustine's House is not part of any breakaway denominational movement, like all the wacky Independent or so-called "Old" Catholic churches out there... so many of which have Wikipedia articles, yet many of them exist, quite literally, in their "bishop"'s basements or living rooms. St. Augustine's House is the real deal... a huge campus with beautiful buildings on it that were built for the monastery.... a chapel, a residential house, the abbot's cottage, a retreat hut in the woods, marked and maintained trails... and now a beautiful new library building that's truly impressive.
Again, St. Augustine's is the real deal. It's been around for many, many years. And its abbot isn't just some wacky guy who woke-up one day and started calling himself a pastor. In keeping with the Lutheran tradition of valuing education, generally; and also insisting that it's clergy are very well educated, this man has a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from a seminary accredited by an agency approed by the US Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). And he's properly ordained by one of the mainstream Lutheran bodies. His is, in other words, a denominationally-approved ministry... very official... the real deal. When so many other Wikipedia articles are about tiny church bodies that simply sprang-up one day in the mind of some disaffected, disgruntled or excommunicated Catholic (or defrocked clergy), it just doesn't seem possible to me that anyone here would consider St. Augustine's House any less noteworthy or less deserving of its own article.
Furthermore, St. Augustine's House's now-deleted article is linked-to from other articles here... so now there are broken (red) links in those articles.
Again, I'm not affiliated with St. Augustine's House. However, I've long been interested in it, and have been something of a fan. After spending the summer of 2007 in Indiana settling my mom's estate, and fixing-up her house for sale, I drove four hours up to the monastery near Detroit and spent a few days there... mostly fumbling embarrassingly through the multiple-times-daily liturgies, and generally getting a feel for the place, out of curiosity more than anything else, before finally getting back in the car and heading back to California. So I'm an eye-witness to the place's both existence and credibility.
Again, it's the real deal... worthy of an article here.
So, is there some way that I can come to understand what happened, and how whatever was wrong could be remediated, so that perhaps a new article could be written? I'm willing to do the work, and to take responsibility; and to ensure that Wikipedia's rules are observed.
Thanks, in advance, for your understanding and help. I look forward to reading your response.

And I understand, now, completely, why you deleted it. Makes good sense. I also appreciate that you're open to a new article... only this time one that isn't verbatim from a copyrighted work; and this time one that's actually a properly Wikified article. Disruption by User:Stupidus Maximus
Notwithstanding the fact that this individual is almost certainly a sock of the banned User:Guildenrich [11], he is extremely disruptive.
Example #1: Yesterday, he blanket rved [12] a number of perfectly harmless cpedits of mine [13] without so much as an explanation. He only relented after I threatened to go nuclear [14] [15] disingenuously claiming to have made a mistake (and after mocking me to fix it myself [16]). He then continued trolling my talkpage [17]. I do not for a second believe it was a mistake: He has never edited that article before, he evidently went through my contribs and saw a perfect opportunity to spite me.
Example #2: A few days ago, he rammed through some changes to Lunxhëri without bothering to consult anyone, and today he apparently went off the deep end with this [18]. I mean, look at that. He basically took the old version of the article and pasted it there.
Example #3: Today, he was trolling User:Alexikoua's talkpage. Take a look at these exchanges: [19] [20] regarding this dispute: [21] [22] [23]. Apparently, it's perfectly ok for him to add a bunch of Albanian nobodies, but god forbid anyone add any notable Greeks: In that case, it is necessary for them to be found on Google Books [24], but for "his" notable people a raw google search turning up nonsense is more than sufficient [25]. It's impossible to get a word through with the guy. Any attempt at engaging him is met with trolling and mockery: [26] [27]. This exchange here [28] is also illuminating. He never answers a question posed to him. He just throws around cryptic non-answers and deliberately plays juvenile mind-games with anyone who tries to reason with him. And just in case you think I'm just saying that because I'm Greek, well, it's not just Greek users who seem to find him disruptive [29].
I note you have a history of intervening on behalf of Albanian users, doubtless because ZjarriRrethues chats with you a lot on IRC. Don't believe everything he tells you. He too is almost certainly a sock of a previously banned user (SPI to come, I have a mountain of evidence, and again, it's not just me who seems to think he is a sock [30]). The Greek users are all under editing restrictions, meanwhile trolls like Stupidus and Zjarri stroll around and do as they like, reverting with dismissive summaries and not bothering to discuss anything with anyone, as if they own the place [31]. And who can blame them? You're obviously a smart guy. Look around to see what's going on, don't believe everything you're told on IRC. Athenean (talk) 00:03, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for verifying my belief that you are just initiating wp:npa discussions that violate wp:civil. For the record trolls don't start 45 articles, 15 of which become featured on wp:dyk. And secondly you're welcome to initiate a second SPI(and a third after that) but whose sock will you accuse me of being this time, because the first attempt wasn't successful at all.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 07:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Grotesquely inappropriate?
Compared to what? There is a lot of stuff on user pages that could fall under that criterion and is a lot worse than my userbox but I don't see you deleting it. Why my userbox?
Here's the restrictions for Wikipedia:Userboxes:
Content restrictions
- All userboxes are governed by the civility policy.
- Userboxes must not include incivility or personal attacks.
- Userboxes must not be inflammatory or divisive.
- Wikipedia is not an appropriate place for propaganda, advocacy, or recruitment of any kind, commercial, political, religious, or otherwise, opinion pieces on current affairs or politics, self-promotion, or advertising.
Simply: If content is not appropriate on a user page, it is not appropriate within userboxes.
My userbox did not violate any of those guidelines, and I've looked, but I couldn't find anything that said that if it were considered "grotesquely inappropriate" by DragonflySixtyseven, then it should be deleted. That userbox was part of a collection of userboxes, some created by me, that was part of a section on my user page that was meant to parody some users and certain user pages. Parodying certain aspects of Wikipedia is a big part of my user page, and I think it adds something interesting and useful, for those who choose to view it.

Deletion Inquiry
Hi DragonflySixtyseven. Wondering if I can get a bit more info on the deletion of "ronsmap". The note said, "notability not asserted", but a simple google search would remedy that? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Josepholesh (talk • contribs) 23:20, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- "Notability not asserted" means that the article itself didn't say anything about notability. I shouldn't have to go searching for details to prove notability when I'm reading the article. The article itself should say why the subject is notable. Otherwise it gets deleted. DS (talk) 23:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Tony Anselmo
Hello.
For your question on the Simpsons credits, I'm not sure where I would have gotten that information given that it's not true. It's possible I made a mistake, but the most likely thing is that I saw the name in episode credits and noted it from there. However, given that it's not listed on IMDb (I contribute there, hence why I would be going through the credits in the first place), I must have made an error. The additions I made to that article were from when I was quite new to Wikipedia and was not completely aware of the need to provide referenced sources, hence why I didn't provide one for that. In any case, my information seems to have been in error, so my apologies. -LainEverliving LainEverloving (talk) 07:19, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
About "Bar Minan" edit
You recently removed a picture and a few sentences from an article titled "Bar minan." I understand that the google screenshot isn't a valid source in encyclopedic terms, but the concept was that even the internet "admits" to the fact that there is too much "Bar Minan" immorality was the point that I was trying to express. I request that you revew the article and your change once more with that in mind; if you still feel that it shouldn't be there, then so be it. Thank you for your time, and I implore of you to reconsider your decision. Coming from the community mentioned in the article, I can tell you that the point was elucidated more by the picture. Midrashei HANC (talk) 20:24, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Midrashei
- I had a quick look at this. I think Dragonfly's right to remove the material both times [36][37], because as written, it breached some of our content standards:
- We don't include original research and beliefs of editors in our content. Even if "everyone knows" it, a reputable reliable source must be available for claims. So for example "Contrary to what some may think, this is a perfectly acceptable usage of the word even in modern day English" - what credible source can we use to check that the claim of "perfectly acceptable" is accurate? What source can confirm the suggestion that it's true in all places and countries? Who are the "some" who may think otherwise and where is a citation of "them" thinking so?
- Wikipedia doesn'presents information, it doesn't advocate. So we don't tell people to "please learn some Torah, or ask a Persian friend".
- We don't present our own beliefs as encyclopedic fact, or make claims that "so many immoral things happen" in some place or website (which viewpoint holds they are immoral? Is this a representative viewpoint? Are there other viewpoints that don't hold it to be immoral? What do credible authorities state?)
- We don't use "screenshots I took" as "proof" of anything, same problem, its not the assessment of a credible authority speaking in a reputable published venue.
- Hopefully this gives an idea how we work, and will help understand why tehse and similar are rewritten or removed, if put in an encyclopedia articles. FT2 (Talk | email) 22:28, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Very well, thank you for your assistance. Midrashei HANC (talk) 23:55, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
"Skirmish at Thomas McCrae's house" deletion
Hi D67,
Fair enough on the deletion as the copy stood. Is there anything preventing me from re-creating the page with that title at a later date if framed and phrased more originally (and obviously with citations)? Or is the title "Skirmish at Thomas McCrae's house" permanently tainted goods insofar as Wikipedia's concerned? TIA Natty10000 Natty10000 (talk) 11:56, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- OK. So the title's fair game yet. Once I get a chance to revisit the entry, I'll be a little more thorough on my sourcing. As for the title, as far as I've been able to determine, that's the virtually universal name by which the action was known. To be honest, it'd be hard to imagine describing an action where one side has 40 combatants involved and the other 37 with just one killed betwixt the two as anything more substantial than a skirmish. :) Natty10000 (talk) 13:12, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi. I noticed you deleted this talk page.
It helps to keep the talk pages of spammers because it makes it easier for us to find and track their sockpuppets. Here's a recent discussion on the topic with links to earlier discussions. While this particular thread is about anonymous IPs, much of it holds true for username accounts:
If there's still spam on a page, you can delete the spam text and then stick a warning on the page. It's also useful to stick a tracking link for the spam domain (example: http://example.com) so we can find the page with a link search (for example, Special:Linksearch/*.example.com.
The template {{LinkSummaryLive}} does the same thing (it also adds links to a variety of tools):
- example.com: Linksearch en - meta - de - fr - simple - wikt:en - wikt:fr • MER-C Cross-wiki • Reports: Links on en - COIBot - COIBot-Local • Discussions: tracked - advanced • COIBot-Local - COIBot-XWiki - Wikipedia: en - fr - de • Google: search • meta • Domain: domaintools • AboutUs.org • Live link: http://www.example.com
I took the liberty of restoring that page.

Reverted edits
Hi, I noticed that you moved, then moved back M. Stanton Evans, in the process deleting some of the content. I just wanted to give you a heads-up that I took the liberty of reverting those moves in order to recover the lost content. I assumed that the deletion of content was inadvertent, but if I am mistaken, please let me know on the discussion page associated with that article, if you find it convenient. As a newb, I would very much appreciate pointers to any rules or guidelines I might have transgressed. Thanks for your help! 71.251.58.243 (talk) 00:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

i wish you'd quit mangling and protecting the article on mceldowney. its vastly inaccurate, and you know it brooke -- brooke, we all know the only one that cares about your article is you, and you have to lie about yourself far too much. On June 8, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article John G. FitzGerald, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hi DragonflySixtyseven. The article was deleted for being too promotional. I am instructed to contact you before creating another page under the same hearing. Hello! I've recently caught some vandalism from User:Tombstoneholiday, whose userpage doesn't exist-- as it was deleted by you as an attack page back in May. Novabackup
After reviewing the article guidelines for the page you deleted, Novabackup, it seems like it would be more appropriate to create a company page rather than a page for the product itself. I have a COI as I'm a representative of the company and I'm curious if there's still a way I can create a stub or page with some compiled information that individuals NOT employed at the company may not have access to, but seems to still be relevant. I've created a page that I don't believe is spam but I'm curious the best way to move forward with posting it.
Thanks for your help

Hello, I assumed that the personal pages were for testing? I did not try to submit this to the main wiki, I was wondering why it was deleted? is there a definition of the level of "silliness" that can be placed on our own personal pages? I did not realize that the personal pages here were under the scrutiny of someone? you? If it is the case that we cannot put what we wish on our personal pages, that is if we wish to learn a bit more about formating and the possibility of an article being accepted by trying various subjects or formats with data that is not personally agreable to certain readers, is it possible to have a list of who might be in charge of reading, and giving their opinion on the validity of our "TEST" material, please send me a list.

Hi DragonflySixtyseven,
I found today that my page has been deleted and I apologize for what I may have done wrong...I'm relatively new to writing on Wikipedia but would like to get the page back up as soon as possible. Can you please help me to get it back up? I'll fix whatever I need to and I'm sorry but as I said I'm relatively new and didn't realize I did something wrong. I also seem to be having a problem with uploading a photo as well. Any help you can provide I would appreciate it. Thank you CarolCrayola830 (talk) 03:21, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi DragonflySixtyseven, you once upon a time welcomed me here and thereby expressed your appreciation for my discographical work on my "American Music" site. You therefore seem to me to be the right person to kindly have a look at the discussion about that article I started a few days ago ... Do I see things falsly about those here "notability" discussions ? StefanWirz (talk) 09:32, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi DragonflySixtyseven, I created a Wikipedia addition "WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca (magazine) which you deleted. Why? It's a magazine that has produced 14 editions! Your comments was "notability not asserted" - what does that mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris.mccorrister (talk • contribs) 01:09, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Chris. All articles on Wikipedia must satisfy our notability criteria, which on some level means that the article must be covered in reliable, third-party sources. Your article did not indicate that such sources exist. If you can provide such sources, we will be happy to undelete the article for you. Best, NW (Talk) 02:01, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Lindenhurst Memorial Library Page Deleted - why?
This morning i received a message stating that the Lindenhurst Memorial Library page has been deleted "because it looked so much like the Library's official "about us" page that even if you didn't copy-and-paste it directly from a propriety source, it would have required so much rewriting that it's more efficient to just start from scratch. Sorry." I am a library staff member and was asked to create this wikipedia page on behalf of the library. Therefore, the information on the Library's official "about us" page is our property and I don't understand why we would not be able to use it without having the page deleted. I would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me what needs to be done in order to create this page successfully so that it doesn't result in deletion. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you. Lindenhurstlib (talk) 14:56, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
-- So what your saying is that I have to edit the text so that it no longer uses phrases such as "we" "us" "our" ect. even though it is OUR information and I am quoting OUR website? and If i do make those changes the page will not be deleted? Lindenhurstlib (talk) 15:09, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
On Patrol
Will look into that. Mind you, I quite often double check things that other people have checked already - for wrong tagging, tag removal, etc. I seem to be doing userpages at present because the other areas I used to do are being covered better - school pages especially seem to be sorted much better. And now Mean as custard is into userpages too there's less for me do do. I can get on with my real work, perhaps.... Peridon (talk) 17:54, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

DYK hook removal
I found this edit. Somewhat problematic. Whilst i would agree that the hook is a bit cheezy, it was not really 'inappropriate'. Moreover, the article was duly nominated at T:TDYK and stayed posted there without any editor expressing any concern about the article or the hook. --Soman (talk) 04:47, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Again DragonflySixtyseven, Just following up on 'WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca' that you remove a few days ago for lack of notability criteria. We just got interview on TV by CTV (a national canadian television station) because brides were using our wedding website & magazine to help find valid vendors. Here is the text transcript & link to post/video:
Even more complaints are turning up on a forum on the Weddings in Winnipeg website. Editor Lauren Harris has this advice for brides when choosing vendors for their big day. "When you're meeting with these people, you need to think not just how many weddings they've done, but how long they've been in business," says Harris. Talk:Chest infection
Why did you delete Talk:Chest infection? You say "not a forum" but I don't recall any discussion about this. Now it's deleted and I can't even see what it was that you objected to. (Plus wasn't there any material there that could have been kept?) The very notion that a Talk page isn't a forum is a little strange. So unless there was substantial material unrelated to the development of the article, common sense suggests you should just let be. I would like to see the page you deleted. I'm concerned this was hasty and may be an abuse of admin tools. Jason Quinn (talk) 07:20, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
