Fairport's Cropredy Convention appearances

[edit]

This is ordered by running order. It should not be in alphabetical order. I plan to revert your changes in the coming days. If you have any reason why the lists should be in alphabetical order please state you case in the talk page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Fairport%27s_Cropredy_Convention_appearances 86.145.179.92 (talk) 23:36, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

you're looking for User:‎Philoserf. Request for rollback

[edit]

Hi DemonDays64. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 14:56, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes reviewer granted

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

An article you recently created, Christopher Larkin (Australian composer), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Important Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

@Doug Weller: something just change? There has been a note about this on talk pages since I started editing. DemonDays64 (talk) 18:24, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No one can be sanctioned unless they are aware, and an alert is the standard way of making sure they are (participation in an Arbitration Enforcement case is another). I'm got almost all of them on my talk page. Doug Weller talk 19:36, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I accidentally sent the undo of your edit without giving an explanation by hitting enter.

I agree that it is generally better to use SVGs where possible. However, the SVG version of the logo is not the same as the JPG version I included. Namely, the SVG version has a transparent background, while the background of the JPG version is solid color. Therefore, it is more difficult to tell from the logos where the name comes from. This is also why the SVG version was replaced with an old version of the logo in an earlier edit (1001506760).

Hiculd (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Hiculd: Oh! I'll make a version with a white background. Thanks for explaining DemonDays64 (talk) 22:30, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hiculd: I thought about this and I don't really see your logic. The logo is readable with a dark background or a white background, and while I can't seem to find any written guidelines for Wikipedia about background transparency, logos for all sorts of things are included with a transparent background in infoboxes and in articles. The logo's background color varies between white on their Facebook/website and yellow on their Twitter/Instagram; I think having a transparent background because there isn't a consistent one makes the most sense. DemonDays64 (talk) 04:06, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring specifically to the yellow version. Sorry if I didn't make this clear enough. It helps with understanding where the name of the traffic light coalition comes from. I would guess that this is what has been referred to as "so that it makes sense". Hiculd (talk) 17:16, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hiculd: Ohhh I get what you mean now lol. Yeah I'll copy the old yellow one into a new file in a bit! Thanks DemonDays64 (talk) 23:29, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I noticed that you changed the file format of Selenium's logo here, but for some reason the image is no longer the official logo. Could you please go check? I didn't want to just revert to the previous file format because there might be some reasons behind your format change. Thanks. Thomas Meng (talk) 20:33, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Thomas Meng: lol something is broken about the SVG. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9f/Selenium_logo.svg is what it is supposed to look like but it renders totally wrong with those circles. Will try to fix DemonDays64 (talk) 00:44, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DemonDays64! Back in June, you added a multiple issues maintenance tag to the top of the wikiarticle, Their Eyes Were Watching God (verify). Would you be willing to open a new discussion on the associated talkpage indicating where in the article you see these issues? Also, would you consider adding section tags that tie into the two issues you’ve flagged, namely:

Watchlist in chronological order

[edit]

Please help me with... Hi. Is there a way to see the pages on my watchlist in the order that I added them? Recently on commons I added some pages to it that I noticed some problems with but my watchlist is so big

There is no way to change how the watchlist as a whole is ordered- if you did not add time limits to all the pages on it. The watchlist first orders by when pages will drop off the list, then alphabetical; for example, if you routinely add pages, the ones that will drop off the list tomorrow will be listed first in alphabetical order, followed by the ones you added the next day, and so on. If you did not add a duration when you watchlisted a page, those appear at the end in alphabetical order- but there is no way to reorder the list purely by date added. 331dot (talk) 06:38, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dumb quotes script

[edit]

Hello DemonDays64, I was trying to use your User:DemonDays64/Scripts/Dumb_quotes script, but I can't seem to get it working. You can see the troubleshooting steps Firefangledfeathers walked me through at Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2022_April_27#Looking_for_a_bot. Any help would be appreciated. TipsyElephant (talk) 14:20, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

While I'm here, I just want to say thanks for the script! I thought the edit summary change from last November was a nice improvement. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 14:26, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TipsyElephant and Firefangledfeathers: huh that's odd. looking at the script and honestly idk what would be wrong. I don't understand every part of the mediawiki interaction stuff (took a lot of it from another script and wrote the rest >1.5 years ago) but the replacement is just default JS code, no idea why it wouldn't work as long as you're using a normal skin, have JS on, not using a weird browser, etc. Should ask someone else, maybe from the people who list themselves at Wikipedia:WikiProject JavaScript#Participants. DemonDays64 (talkcontribs) 17:20, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DemonDays64: I decided to reset all my preferences to default and it appears to be working now. There must be a conflict with one of the various settings. I'll let you know if I figure out which one it is. TipsyElephant (talk) 15:27, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that WP:WIKED does not work with the script, but I don't think I was using that before. TipsyElephant (talk) 15:47, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It also appears to not work with the beta feature "New wikitext mode." I believe the problem I was having was because I turned on "Automatically enable most beta features." TipsyElephant (talk) 17:00, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dumb Quotes

[edit]

Hello, I run into a problem with the dumb quotes script, it changes quotes in file names, breaking the file link. Could you protect file names from changes by the script? Keith D (talk) 19:07, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Keith D: I think I fixed it by changing it to use a negative lookbehind (supported on everything major since 2020 or earlier [1], and very recently added on Safari; not sure what this will do on browsers without support but I assume it just gets ignored): (?<!File:[^\]]*[^\]]*)(“|”). Interwiki linking

[edit]

Thanks for fixing the hard-coded link to dewiki at Robert Bunsen. According to the {{ill}} documentation, there's a bot that automatically changes it to a local link when a local page exists (would take care of [2] for you). I have no idea what its lag-time is. ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:39, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
