Aalborg Defence and Garrison Museum

Hi Cactus Writer Thanks for the editing you did recently on Aalborg Defence and Garrison Museum. Well done taken into consideration that you obtained most of your information from newspapers. However, this is also the problem. False information on the hangar has flourished during many years, and this was picked up from more newspapers in Denmark, maybe also to a degree supported by the museum. However it is not true, that the hanger was taken down and transported from Holland to Denmark during the war. It may be true as a recent study says, that a blister halle was moved from Holland to Aalborg. But the hanger is a Junker Halle, which was a standard hangar used by the Germans during WW II. For your in formation I established the museum in 2002 and has run it as manager since then and until end of 2013. Orla Kops — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.21.139.143 (talk) 17:06, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Orla Kops. Thanks. I appreciate your explanation. I had an idea that there might be a problem due to your insistent removal of information, but because you failed to include an edit summary or communicate your intention there was no way for us to know. Removing sourced text without any explanation is often seen as vandalism. Therefore, it is best practice when editing Wikipedia to always use the edit summary or the article talk page to explain your actions. Please note that Wikipedia articles can only use information which is verified by independent reliable sources -- that is, we follow a policy of verifiability, not original research. You may be correct about the origin of the hangar -- however, without an actual reliable published source, we cannot use that information. (All editors on the internet are essentially anonymous -- anyone can claim to be anyone -- and therefore we do not, nor cannot, use any editor's word as "truth." As I am sure you can understand.) I am willing to forego inclusion of the Holland detail for the moment. I don't consider it a particularly essential point. But if you know of published sources which can be used to explain the history or expand the article, please add them. Any additions you make must be referenced by reliable sources. Good luck with your editing. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 00:15, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Robert Awards

We now have a complete set of (still quite stub'ish) list articles on Robert Awards (quick view: {{Robert Awards chron}}). I've used {{Ill}} as far as I had the time, so if you're sitting around not knowing what your next ten new articles should be there are dozens of redlinked film/actor/director subjects that needs translation. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 13:26, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for helping to fill in so many of those Danish film redlinks. It's been a while since Erik, Blofeld, Lugnuts, a few others and I started the Nordic cinema task force back in September 2008 -- so it's wonderful to see the article work keep expanding. I don't really have as much time as I did back then -- when Piil was on always on my desk and DFI was a quick link away. Nor any shortage of an article backlog. (The administration stuff has taken its time drain over the recent several years.) But I'll keep your "subtle suggestion" in mind. Thanks again for the good work. If you have questions about anything at all, let me know. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 16:29, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello. The bottom of the page at http://www.chitragroup.co.in states "All Rights Reserved © Chitragroup.co.ins”, and the bottom of every Facebook page states "Facebook © 2015”. Wikipedia can only use text which is released for all public domain use — usually by a creative commons compatible license. And it does not accept text which has been copied from any copyrighted site without direct written permission to the Wikimedia Foundation offices. If you wish the material to be undeleted, you will need to follow the instructions about this at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials . However, please also understand that even if text is granted permission for copying, it still may be inappropriate for Wikipedia and may require editing or removal. For example, it will still need to meet the criteria for notability, verifiability through independent sources and non-promotion among other things. Good luck with your editing. Administrators are not permitted to restore copyvios -- restoring a copyright violation would be a violation in itself. And it is unnecessary because the pages from which the information were copied are freely available for referral. CactusWriter (talk) 00:03, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Matt Henshaw? Deleted? Why??

I don't understand why the page - Matt Henshaw - was deleted, the page was new, with new links and information from Europe and the UK? This was my first attempt at a wikipedia page, I spent a whole evening on it, and now I don't even know where or why it has gone?! I don't want to be disillusioned with editing wikipedia this quickly. 707 Music (talk) 01:54, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi CatcusWriter, I have reversed the delete, as the version deleted was completely different with different references. Another AFD should be conducted prior to deletion. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:02, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi Kvng. Because the new article no longer has any copyright violation (which was the original concern), I have removed the protection. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 18:48, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Justine McIntyre

I see my page has been deleted. I do understand the reason why; I had just hoped to fill in context for the links to my name from other pages on Wikipedia that currently link to... nothing. I will go away now and work on becoming famous and influential so that someday someone else will fill in my page. :-) Thanks CactusWriter. Jmcintyrepfds (talk) 18:42, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Jmcintyrepfds, I'm glad that you do understand the encyclopedia's policies on autobiography and conflict of interest. Please also note that redlinks do not mean a standalone article is always appropriate -- but rather that one might be in the future. (See WP:RED) Of course, you're always welcome to contribute directly to Wikipedia in other areas of your expertise. It's understandable, though, if you're currently busy becoming famous and influential. :-) As Aristotle wrote: “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” CactusWriter (talk) 17:22, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Bhushan Mate

Hi CactusWriter, I had started creating article on one of the famous wildlife photographer of India. I had put some initial details of the same with references but Deletion Tag was been put immd. I had contested to hold the same but it looks like the article is been deleted. I personally feel that this article is required on Wikipedia and I do not have any personal interest or relationship with Bhushan Mate. Bhushan is great photographer, a stage actor who has played roles in Marathi Play. Can you please reinstate the article and help me to improve on that? Thanks....Coolgama (talk) 05:25, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi Coolgama. Yes, the article was deleted per WP:A7 because there was no credible assertion of significance. Please note that this is not a criticism of the individual. It simply means that their work or credits as listed -- for example, being one of many photographers in a local group, being related to someone notable, or appearing in a movie -- are not significant assertions. Nor do self-published websites and press releases make credible reliable sources. I have restored and moved the page to Draft:Bhushan Mate so that you can work further on creating a biography. However, if any assertions of notability cannot be supported by independent reliable sources, then the article will likely be deleted again. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 17:45, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks CactusWriter for restoring. I will certainly work and improve the article and submit for review....Coolgama (talk) 05:28, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of White Collar-1 Page

Hi CactusWriter,

Thank you for your help with moving White Collar 1 to White Collar-1. I was unsure of how to do that so I made a separate page on accident. Unfortunately, I made significant edits to the White Collar-1 page before it was deleted, and the old White Collar 1 page does not contain these edits. Is there any way to relocate that revision history so I can restore these edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aznchoco1 (talkcontribs) 17:54, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Kingdom of Catan Article

Hi there, Sorry to bother you but as I am trying to increase the Micronational presence on Wikipedia. I started an Article in my sandbox User:Johnatmicronews/sandbox about the Kingdom of Catan. I have reasonable thoughts to think that the sandbox article is ready for publication. However when I tried to publish the foresaid article. I could not edit the page as it was a "protected page". I am new to the site so don't really know what that entails, however I get the general gist that it can not be edited.

To give you some background to me, I am an independent micronational journalist who is writing articles about many different micronations.

As I said I am new to this site and any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Johnatmicronews (talk) 10:41, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Johnatmicronews, please read Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not for things made up one day. The pages on Kingdom of Catan and Republic of Catan were speedily deleted and protected because of repeated attempts to recreate them in violation of Wikipedia policies on notability and referencing. You and friends may find that creating internet pages about a make-believe kingdom is of interest -- and that is fine elsewhere on the internet -- but it is of no encyclopedic value here unless independent reliable sources demonstrate it to be. Deleted Page Iboom Media

Hi, you deleted my page "Iboom Media" this morning: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iboom_Media It was my first try at an page and I didn't know I had to add anything to the "talk" page. As I was attempting to put some information into the "talk" page, the article got deleted. It had reliable references and links. Is there anything else that is wrong with it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Onlinemeister (talkcontribs) 10:25, 2 June 2015‎

Hi Onlinemeister. The page on Iboom Media was deleted per the Wikipedia criteria on no significant assertions and no advertising. There was no credible assertion of significance of the company and all the "references" provided were only press releases written by the company. Please note that simple existence of a company is not enough for it to be notable, but rather it must have received significant coverage by independent reliable sources. Press releases which are used solely to advertise the company are not proper references. I suggest you use the WP:Article Wizard when trying to create an article -- it will help you understand the necessary requirements of an encyclopedic article on Wikipedia. Regards. Community Change, inc.

Hello, I am interested in creating a page for Community Change, inc. I see that one was deleted. How can I avoid this happening? — Preceding unsigned comment added by C0l3rs (talkcontribs) 14:00, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi COI3rs. The Community Change, Inc. page was tagged and deleted because it violated the Wikipedia policies concerning copyright violation and advertising. The text was copy/pasted from a published website and was not only written from a non-neutral point-of-view, but was unambiguously promotional. To create an article, I suggest to all new users that they use the WP:Article Wizard. This will provide helpful advice on the guidelines for an encyclopedic article. Good luck with your editing. Hi CW, if I may abbreviate! I see you've just blocked this user for copyright violations. As one who has been working with him on this problem, can you let me know what the latest violation was that precipitated this? Thanks! CrowCaw 18:56, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Crow. Yes, I'm afraid it had reached that point. I had been following your efforts and appreciate that you were achieving good results. But this other copying from outside sources has now become more problematic. We will see if the editor wants to discuss and understand the problems. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 19:05, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
It appears that TGG23 has finally begun to read and understand the policies on copyright. They have suggested that, in the future, that they will refer to you for answers concerning copyright problems. If you wish to continue monitoring this user for the time being, then I think they can be cleared to be unblocked. I realize it is an imposition on you and it is fine if you decline. Would you care to continue providing them help or are there other concerns we should discuss? CactusWriter (talk) 15:53, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, Crow! If you have any problems, please let me know. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 17:18, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Is that ok?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Pineda TheGreenGiant23 (talk) 00:10, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
Yes, that seems fine. (I made a couple of corrections in grammar.) In cases like that, it is always best to read the sources, then write the text in your own words. Even when words are changed, there can be a copyright violation if the entire passage is constructed in the same manner. The Wikipedia essay on WP:Close paraphrasing provides a good introduction on how to avoid that. CactusWriter (talk) 02:18, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I am new to Wikipedia as an editor, you recently took down a page I made for my grandfather Asteris Kovatzis. He was a particularly influencial member of the greek community in London and even more so in Greece where there is a bust to him in Kiato town square, (his town of origin where I linked his name.) I am very new to Ths and as a result very bad at editing wiki pages as it seems complex. you deleted the page under suspicion of advertising and I can assure you that he is long dead and I intend to sell nothing of his, I just wish to pay homage to my grandfather and satisfy the want for many elderly Greeks to see him online. I don't know how to go about reposting the page but it said to message you. i would appreciate your help. thanks. OllieLondonBourne Ollielondonbourne (talk) 12:15, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello, Ollielondonbourne. I understand that the rules for writing a Wikipedia article are complex. And this is especially true for our new editors. So I am sorry that this was your first experience in editing here. But there were two problems with the page you created. First, and most importantly, you created it by copying text written by someone else. (As evidenced by the attribution you included at the bottom of the page: Written by Theo Andrews Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc. Posted by Grandson Oliver Sotirios Bourne) This is a copyright violation and, unless the text is released into the public domain by the original author, it must be deleted immediately. Second, the same text was also deleted twice due to overly promotional language. This means that the article was not written in a neutral point-of-view (a core necessity for an encyclopedic article) and the words were overly effusive and editorializing. This is often the problem when writing about a topic for which there is a Conflict Of Interest and a Personal Agenda (which you admit to having). I have no knowledge of Asteris Kovatzis, but he may be a notable figure. The best way to proceed is: first, to read the bluelinks that I have provided above, then write an entry in your own words listing the person's career or notability and include references to independent reliable sources. It is best for new editors to use the WP:Article Wizard which will help you to understand the necessary attributes of a Wikipedia article. Good luck with your editing. Article about Patrick Murphy

Hello CactusWriter

If you had bothered to read the article you would have seen that the article related to a person who was deceased. Therefore it would be pretty impossible for me to write it about myself. I was very new to Wikipedia and created a small page related to a person of interest in our community. It amazed me how intimidating Wikipedia editors/administrators like yourself are and how a small page which may be of some interest to people, can be bombarded with deletion messages from the other side of the world. It has completely put me off Wikipedia for good. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patrickmurphyus (talkcontribs) 20:42, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Patrickmurphyus, you are correct. I am sorry. I posted a message about autobiographies to you when I meant to post a message to you about conflict-of-interest. Unfortunately, individuals with a conflict-of-interest often fail to recognize their own bias toward a subject -- and misunderstand the notability requirements for a encyclopedic page on their chosen topic. The result is usually speedy deletion -- and hurt feelings on the part of the editor. It is important to understand that the notability requirements are not a reflection on the quality of any individual, but merely whether there exists enough reference for an encyclopedia article in Wikipedia. CactusWriter (talk) 21:01, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
Sorry about this, I'm not sure of the timeline of when you had blanked your User talk page, the exchange there did make it clear that this was not an autobio article. I'm not actually sure if there was a genuine conflict of interest here, but as I stated at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patrick U. Murphy, I do not believe he merited a Wikipedia article, based on our policy. BTW, CactusWriter, do you close Afds? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 22:19, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello, Akaviani. Please note that when anyone creates a page on Wikipedia, it is no longer theirs -- they do not own it -- but rather the rights are released to the public under a Creatice Commons License. Therefore, when you created the article Dr. Kaviani , MD, FEBU about yourself and pushed the "save page" button, you licensed it for anyone else to edit it. The article was appropriately tagged for speedy deletion by other editors because of issues concerning the subject's Notability and Promotional text -- and most importantly, the text was copied from another website without prior permission which is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. There were no unprofessional nor wrong comments. The article was subsequently deleted for concerns. Wikipedia does not control any internet search engines. Search engines, like Google, operate independently. I assume, though, that traces of the article will disappear from search engine results over short period of time. Something I thought about.

I was reviewing the history of the Mega Man 8 page and clicked a red link, and it took me to a page which had been hoax-deleted called "Pichi no Shiro de Rokkuman to Pati". Hi! I create and edit Wikipedia pages of actors, as you can see from my edit history. I research them carefully and try to add reliable info to help the encyclopedia stay current and strong and to gain edit points. In the future, I hope to become an admin such as yourself, but I still have a considerable amount of editing and learning to do before I apply. I went to create the page Lisa Christine Holmberg, but I saw that it was currently protected by you. I read the deletion history, and saw that you protected it a while back from a user that was creating the article repeatedly. Wikipedia said to ask the protecting administrator of the page about recreating it. I've read up on the actor, and it looks like she's done a lot since this page was deleted. The movie Unexpected with Cobie Smulders seemed pretty big. What do you think? Do you think that I could make it a page? Thank you in advance for your time! - WikiConqueror (talk) 08:14, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, WikiConqueror. That page was deleted in November 2014 after at a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lisa Christine Holmberg and then was protected after the editor tried to immediately recreate it. The consensus of that discussion was that this person did not pass the notability criteria for an article about an actor (See WP:ACTORBIO). And, after looking at her IMDb page now, I'm afraid that there is still nothing that would change that assessment. She has appeared in unnamed bit parts in a film, Unexpected, and an unreleased tv pilot. If the page was recreated, it might be speedily deleted (per WP:G4) for insufficient improvement of the previous versions, or per WP:A7 for failing to demonstrate significance. This is not meant as a disparagement of the individual nor their career -- it simply means that this 17-year-old performer has not yet achieved the notability required for an encyclopedic biography. I suggest you read the essay at WP:TOOSOON and wait to create a page on Holmberg until such time as independent reliable sources make evident that this person is clearly notable. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 21:46, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Okay, I'll look at that link and wait on making that page. Thank you! - WikiConqueror (talk) 20:05, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

What's the problem why did you delete my own article! Your are so rude! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaspergeli (talkcontribs) 11:52, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Jaspergeli, the Wikipedia article List of koi varieties was tagged and deleted (per WP:G12 criteria) because it was a copyright violation. That is, you created it by directly copying text from the page at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.antonio/antoniokoi_007.htm. Please note that Wikipedia takes cases of copyright infringement very seriously. Instances of copyright infringement must be removed immediately -- and editors who continue to post copyrighted violations may be blocked from editing. You may wish to read the information at Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources before creating further articles. Secondly, Jaspergeli, I see from edit summaries at history of List of goldfish that you have been advised not to claim that you own an article. Please understand that no editor "owns" the pages they create on Wikipedia. When an editor clicks the "save" button, they are agreeing to release their edits under a Creative Commons license for anyone to freely use and edit. This is a requirement of Wikipedia -- and a necessity for working in a collaborative atmosphere. You will find more info at WP:OWN. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. CactusWriter (talk) 15:36, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

I merged the content of "Old Order Amish" with three other articles, because a very long and good article about the Old Order Amish (under the lemma "Amish") already exists and the article "Old Order Amish" mainly consists of a section about “different groups of Amish” that could be best merged with the article "subgroups of Amish" (which I did) and a lot of "further reading" with a very large section about health. All the "further reading" about health I merged with the article "Health among the Amish". The rest of the content with few small exceptions (information that is already in the article article “Amish” and/or could be deleted anyhow) I merged with the article "Amish". Therefore all useful content of the article "Old Order Amish" is contained in one of the three other articles (“Amish”, “Subgroups of Amish” and “Health among the Amish”) were the content fits best.

If the article "Old Order Amish" (without any useful content that is not in other articles) would be deleted, I could move the article "Amish", which is about the "Old Order Amish" (see at the top of the page! "Amish") to the place were it belongs. I would then move a bit more than half of the content of the page "Amish (disambiguation)" to a new page "Amish" (I'd add also some content to that page, that I'd create). The total mess, with an article about the Old Order Amish under the lemma "Amish" and a strange article "Old Order Amish" that contains mainly a section "different groups of Amish" and "further reading" would thus come to an end.

Could you please explain me in detail why it would be better to have the article "Old Order Amish" with its strange and very limited selection of information, when there is already a very good article about the Old Order Amish, but only under the wrong lemma "Amish", while all the specific information of the article "Old Order Amish" is also given by other articles? (English is not my mother tongue, I say that just in case my spelling, grammar or wording is not correct). --Metron (talk) 05:53, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Concerning the "attribution" problem: could the page "Old Order Amish" be moved to somewhere and then reduced to a redirection, to solve the attribution problem? (Sorry I was logged in by my other account "User:Metron"). There are not so many users around who wrote in the article "Old Order Amish" or who write about subjects like "Subgroups of Amish" or "Health among the Amish". For example for more than two years there was no substantial editing in the article "Old Order Amish" except my edits and edits that were reverted. For all the groups of Amish, Mennonites, Brethren there is little deeper interest (and even less knowledge). There are a lot of people who watch "Amish Mafia" or "Breaking Amish" or read novels that play in an Amish environment but these programs and novels are almost pure fantasy. --Tuncker (talk) 06:13, 20 August 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tuncker (talkcontribs)
Hi Metron/Tuncker. I am not knowledgeable about the overall subject matter of the Amish and, therefore, at this time, have no opinion about the specific content of each of those pages. I will leave that to those familiar with the topic -- and it is the reason that I advise you to first create a discussion about merging the content before making large wholesale cut-and-paste moves. (Instruction for proposing a merger is given at WP:MERGE.) It is a good idea to place a note at the various project pages, inviting project members to the talk page to discuss your suggested merge, and then allow sufficient time for editors to comment there -- usually one week is a minimum. At any rate, after any cut-and-paste moves, you should use the {{Copied}} template and place it on the source and/or destination's talk page. This lets editors know that the page histories contain attribution for the text, and the page history must not be deleted in order to be copyright compliant. If you have previously made similar cut-and-paste moves on other articles, please return and repair the attribution as instructed as WP:RIA. Thanks. By the way, in order to avoid any accusations of sockpuppetry, a notice should be kept on your user page informing everyone that you are using multiple accounts. I'll place one there for you. (Those are your only two accounts, aren't they?) Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 23:51, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Thank you!!

Hi CactusWriter, thank you for reverting the vandal on my user page! I'm just curious, do you know if he was a sockpuppet of a different account? Looking through his contributions, we've never had any dealings before, so I don't know why he would have wanted to vandalize my user page. Thanks again! Isabelle 18:45, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Isabelle. You're welcome. It appears to have been the same someone who was trying to copy-paste a massive plot at this page. We both reverted their edits there earlier this summer. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 19:06, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I'm guessing they were probably trying to get revenge on me for reporting them to WP:AIV and getting their other IP banned twice. Thanks for figuring that out :) Cheers Isabelle 19:38, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

hello, cactuswriter a couple of days ago i created a page could "Jerusalem Dome of the Rock UFO incident" that you deleted. i didnt realize the reason of the deletion.i would be very pleased if you will answer me on that question so i could correct my mistakes. thank you, spokarnak4 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.64.154.181 (talk) 06:26, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Spokarnak4. (I will assume that is your username because that is the editor who created Jerusalem Dome of the Rock UFO incident). That article was tagged per Wikipedia's deletion category WP:G4: recreation of an article that has been previously deleted following a deletion discussion. You can read the relevant discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jerusalem Dome of the Rock UFO incident where consensus decided that this article about a single YouTube video hoax failed to meet the requirements for an encyclopedic article. Hi, I Undid your edit revision 678641522 at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Biography/By_nationality#Sri_Lanka Previous AFD decision at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Madura_Kulatunga happens due to poorly written article without any national newspaper source references. At that AFD decision time Wikipedia editors cannot verify details about subject "Madura Kulatunga". Because they don't have any English medium national newspaper articles about subject "Madura Kulatunga". In Sri Lanka only 6 English medium national newspaper publishers are available. Currently we have 6 out of 6 English medium National Newspaper publishers articles about subject "Madura Kulatunga". Subject "Madura Kulatunga" life story have educational value that suitable for Wikipedia. According to Wikipedia Notability guidelines subject "Madura Kulatunga" have WP:BASIC "significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources". And subject "Madura Kulatunga" have WP:CREATIVE "3. The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work". Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.43.253.73 (talk) 07:23, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for your explanation. Problems of conflict-of-interest, self-promotion and sock puppetry were also evident at the AFD -- which can make the notability issue (even with any sources) remain undecided. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 15:31, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Timothy Blair Frye Wikipedia Page

Dear CactusWriter,

I respectfully request that the Wikipedia article on the artist Timothy Blair Frye be put back so that I can update it as requested by TheGGoose in an email I received yesterday, Friday 04 September 2015.

Thank you for your time,

WmheltonWmhelton (talk) 08:51, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Wmhelton. The article on Timothy Blair Frye had been marked for lacking any reliable source since 2008 -- and no improvement had ever been made.. After several years, it was finally tagged and deleted for lacking any credible assertion of significance. What updates do you plan to provide to address this issue? Regards. Declined speedy

How could my speedy deletion nomination to Imhyre Kértez get cancelled? I was driven by User:Ravenswing to tag speedy deletion to another article yesterday. TheGGoose (talk) 18:31, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, GGoose. In my edit summary, I declined the WP:G3 CSD tag because, as a hoax, it is neither obvious nor blatant. (Comments in the creation and in the discussion of the AFD indicate there indeed was some uncertainty.) It does not meet the obvious joke level of Enoch Kimball which should have been tagged for speedy deletion. Additionally, the time has already been taken to create an AFD and begin a discussion, so there does not seem to be any need to "speedy" the deletion. In fact, AFD-determined deletions are always preferable to CSDs because any recreation in the future can be immediately removed per AFD consensus. The AFD by all accounts will be closed by due process as delete within a couple of days. So I'm uncertain why you consider time is of the essence now. CactusWriter (talk) 18:58, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
  • GGoose, G3 is for a blatant hoax, which the surreal nature of the Kimball article definitely met. This one isn't. There's reason to believe it may be, but it doesn't scream "Hoax!" Ravenswing 21:50, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Exactly. The article was created from text copied directly from the company's website. (That website states at the bottom "Copyright © 2009. Fare Labs. All rights reserved.") It is a violation Wikipedia Copyright policy which is copyright protected and is not released for all public use. All copyright violations require deletion from Wikipedia. It is best to use only original wording, written from scratch, when creating text for Wikipedia. Pleas note that, even if written in non-copyright-violating, an article about the company might still be deleted for other reasons -- for example, problems of notability or advertising. In addition, I suggest you read the Wikipedia guideline on conflict of interest. CactusWriter (talk) 17:18, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

I have a question for you!

Question
Hi, my name is Aziza and I am the PR correspondent for MLK Community Mural Project, which is a non-profit organization that uses art education to teach kids life lessons and provides them with summer jobs. I was wondering if you would be interested in writing a wikipedia page about our company or our founder? Please contact us at you earliest convenience at [email protected] Thank you so much and have a great day! Mlkmuralproject (talk) 17:52, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Mlkmuralproject. First, as you were previously advised, your username does not meet Wikipedia guidelines because it represents a group or organization. Please read WP:GROUPNAME. You will need to register a new account under a non-promotional username. I also suggest that you make your request for creating an article about the MLK Community Mural Project at one of the Wikiprojects. For example, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Public Art or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Art. Editors in these projects have a special interest in those topics, and therefore can best advise you on the creation of your article. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 18:54, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

You must've missed my summary asking for the article to be moved to Wikipedia:List of hoaxes on Wikipedia after deletion. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 05:43, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, David. Thank you. I actually did see your summary, but any interested editor can add the article to List of hoaxes on Wikipedia. However, I have recreated Wikipedia:List of hoaxes on Wikipedia/Chad Berryman at your request. (Although I've worked quite a bit on hoaxes and the list over the years, I do find the usefulness of recreating the majority of these one or two line hoaxes as dubious. Some are useful, of course. But others... well, not so much, in my opinion.) But there's no problem filling the request. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 16:55, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Contesting Article for Speedy Deletion

Hi CactusWriter, an article that I submitted for Cloudcade was deleted on account of "G4: Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion".

The article now complies with all guidelines set forth by Wikipedia. All information are properly cited via credible sources, contains objective facts, are not self-promotional and contains helpful information for those who are interested. Please take a look for yourself, all previous comments/debates regarding the Company being "non-notable", "self-promotional", etc have been properly addressed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloudcade The company has since 2014 launched a popular game on mobile and web called Shop Heroes. It was featured by both Apple and Google as their top choice during the last 3 weeks since its launch. I would also like to create an article around that as I'm an avid fan and member of their community. I am requesting for the article to be un-deleted, thanks for you time and consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xenith711 (talkcontribs) 17:57, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Please also note that the context of the article has since drastically changed since 2014. The company has since launched a product, Shop Heroes, which was actually featured by Apple with the release of iOS9 and further featured by Google Play all across last week as the top game worldwide. The company has two offices, one successfully released product and a 2nd one in the works according to their team. There are also published reviews of the product all over the web, with a few cited in the updated article. Please take a closer look. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xenith711 (talkcontribs) 18:21, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Xenith711. The article was substantially similar to the version previously deleted per the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cloudcade. However, you are correct -- there was one new reference dated October 2015 from a gaming website. The initial article still exists at Draft:Cloudcade (That one was created two days ago -- perhaps by you?.) It is still available for editingif you wish to add better reliable sources, and then it can be submitted for review. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 16:39, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi CactusWriter, the article has actually changed drastically (looking at the version submitted back in 2014) since I've made edits to it. It no longer has any material that can be considered self-promotional and contains now only facts. I've also shortened the original article to remove any marketing speaking or anything irrelevant. I've now edited Draft:Cloudcade with 3 more recent sources citing the launch of the product, Shop Heroes, as well. Please review, approve and publish the article, with all previous references for deletion, etc removed so that it does not get further flagged for removal by another editor. Thanks for your time and help. Once approved, I will be drafting up a Shop Heroes page in conjunction.
CactusWriter, even more sources has since been added that are as recent as this week. If everything looks good, please publish the draft for me, or I can re-create a live article myself as long as it won't get flagged by any other admin or writers for deletion. Perhaps the notes and the article discussing the deletion can be removed? I look forward to your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xenith711 (talkcontribs) 20:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Xenith711, I took at look at the article and found that substantial problems remained. I performed a brief copyedit to remove statements unsupported by reliable sources, to remove a blacklisted source, to remove the spam links to outside download websites. to remove promotional copy and to correct the actual source titles which had been written with false promotional titles. As you are aware, these types of problems are a violation of Wikipedia's policy on WP:NOTADVERTISING and can result in the article being deleted. In my opinion, the article is still borderline for notability. However, I did submit it on your behalf for article review so that other editors can examine the page and make a determination. (I'm not certain why you removed the review template that I had originally placed there for your benefit -- but you could have submitted it yourself already.) I would suggest you wait for a response from the reviewer before creating any new articles on this topic. As far as any deletion discussions are concerned, all these discussions remain accessible as a matter of public record. CactusWriter (talk) 18:20, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
CactusWriter, thanks for your help! Some of the "unsupported" statements were pulled directly from their website. I must of deleted the template by accident. Who is the reviewer? Is it any other admins or is there a dedicated person for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.212.36.2 (talk) 13:49, 21 October 2015‎
Articles submitted for review are handled by a number of editors on a case-by-case basis. It may take a week or so before there is a response and requires some patience on your part. In the meantime, although anyone can edit the article, please do not add text that is not supported by the references, or alter quoted titles as you did here. This is considered a form of vandalism and can result in an editor being blocked from editing. Thank you. CactusWriter (talk) 14:50, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Understood, thank you! You are not one of the editors who handle reviews I presume? I will go ahead and start the other article for Shop Heroes once this one has been approved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xenith711 (talkcontribs) 18:18, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi there!

Hi! On Wikipedia, I have to admit, I am not the best at writing articles. Could you please check .sb file and .sb2 file for errors? They are very short. The reason I picked you is because you are an administrator and you are good at knowing what belongs on the wiki. Thanks! WhatTheWaffle (talk) 20:02, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, WhatTheWaffle. I am not particular familiar with computer terminology but I did take a look at the two pages you've created. First, each page will require at least one reference to a reliable source -- a book or journal, for example. (You should add the citation into a reference section at the bottom of the page.) However, the pages do seem very short -- and perhaps those sentences would be better placed in the article Microsoft Small Basic and then you can create redirects for the .sb and .sb2 files. Often, pages which are simply definitions are best suited for Wiktionary instead of Wikipedia. Anyway... that's just my opinion. Good luck with your editing. Meewind page deleted

Hello, the Meewind page that I created was marked for speedy deletion. At the time that I wanted to improve it it had already been deleted by you (exactly after one hour of the speedy deletion nomination). So it was indeed speedy. Too fast for me to be able to contest the nomination for speedy deletion. Would it be possible to restore the content so that I can improve the page. Meewind is definitely a significant sustainable energy investment fund in The Netherlands that is covered in the press:

Jan Vlug (talk) 07:09, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello Jan Vlug. Yes, the speedy process is indeed sometimes very quick once a tag has been applied. (Of course, that particular page of two copied sentences had remained unimproved for 9 days prior to the tagging and deletion.) I have restored the page and placed it in draft space at Draft:Meewind for you to improve. You can submit it for review using the added template when you feel that it is ready. I also added quotation marks around the two sentences to alleviate the copyright violation. Please note that it is not permissible to simply copy-paste text from copyrighted sources -- even when it is a direct translation. Wikipedia articles must be written in the author's own words. In the future, I suggest that you create articles through WP:AFC or within your own sandbox space because this can help you avoid the pitfalls of placing an article in Wikipedia article space before it is ready. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 15:53, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
Hello CactusWriter. Thank you for the clear explanation, suggestion, improvements and restoring the page to a draft page. I will try to improve the page. — Jan Vlug (talk) 16:40, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Deleted page of Keeper Girls

Hellow, I wrote the article of Keeper Girls, but you deleted it because of not-meeting A7 criteria. I want you to revivale the article. I will explain significance of Keeper Girls:

  • The project of Keeper Girls is driven by the municipal zoo of Ikeda, Japan, Satsukiyama Zoo. The manager of Keeper Girls is the vice president of Satsukiyama Zoo.

Keeper Girls appeared in the public relations magazine of Ikeda city [2]. This magazine was published by Ikeda city office and distributed to all households (approx 46,000 households) in Ikeda.

  • The one of the missions of the project is earning money in order to invite a young female wombat into the zoo from Australia. If a young female wombat won't come, in the near future there will be no wombats in Japan.

Thank you. TAKAGI-1 Mukyu (talk) 04:26, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello, TAKAGI-1 Mukyu. I'm sorry but the explanation that you offer and the link only reiterate that the deletion of the article remains correct. A local trio band of young girls that was formed only to advertise a tiny "petting" zoo (3000 square meters) in a small city offers no assertion of significance. Moreover, Wikipedia does not allow articles for which the the substance is promotional. (Please see WP:NOTADVERTISING) Please also understand that this is not meant to disparage either the girl's efforts or the zoo -- it is simply that there is no demonstration of the independent non-promotional coverage needed for a Wikipedia page. The Keeper Girls page is currently redirected to the zoo article -- however, in my opinion, even the zoo article may not meet Wikipedia's guidelines on encyclopedic notability. Of course, you may request assistance at WP:DRV. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 17:00, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

I see. Thank you for your prompt and kind reply. TAKAGI-1 Mukyu (talk) 01:41, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Trouble Understanding Why Wiki Pages were Deleted

Hi CactusWriter. I'm new-ish to writing Wikipedia articles and am having trouble understanding why the pages I put up were deleted for "unambiguous copyright infringement." The pages were CEO Connection, CEO Connection Mid-Market Convention, and Kenneth Beck. I'm just at a loss of how to include citations that aren't the company websites because they don't have that many articles written about them. If possible, can we discuss so I can write better/more appropriate pages? Also, is there a way for me to obtain the written info from the pages that were deleted? I'm doing this for a client and I'd like to not have to start entirely from scratch again, as I'm not very good with the coding part of Wikipedia. Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radicaldoubt (talkcontribs) 14:08, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Radicaldoubt. First, all three of those articles were created containing text that was copied from copyrighted websites. (In these specific cases, the outside websites were marked "© 2015 CEO Connection" at the bottom of pages.) Plagiarism is a violation of Wikipedia Copyright Policy and Terms of Service. And all instances must be removed immediately per legal requirements. I cannot restore the pages because that, in itself, would again be a violation of copyright. For any future contributions, please note that it is best practice to always write text using your own words or original wording. Second, I suggest you read the guidelines on Conflict of Interest, especially the section on Paid editing. Because any form of advocacy -- marketing or promotional copy, for example -- conflicts with the neutral point-of-view necessary to write an encyclopedic article, individuals with conflict-of-interst are very strongly discouraged from creating or editing articles about themselves, their family or their clients. I strongly suggest that you avoid creating these articles on your client's behalf. If they are notable, other neutral independent parties will eventually create an article about those topics. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask. Regards. CactusWriter (talk) 15:53, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply! Is there a way I can get permission from CEO Connection to use content from their pages? I didn't copy text exactly from their webpages, so I was surprised by the copyright violation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radicaldoubt (talkcontribs) 15:59, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Please read WP:COPYPASTE for information. However, all three of those articles have been deleted in the past for blatant advertising -- and using PR text from their websites will likely result in the same result. Furthermore, I reiterate, that you should please read WP:COI first -- any persistent advocacy on behalf of your client may result in restrictions of your editing privileges. CactusWriter (talk) 16:28, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
And why was CEO Connection removed as spam from the Middle-Market Company page when the other company mentioned (ACG) can remain on the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radicaldoubt (talkcontribs) 19:53, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Radicaldoubt, my concern there was to address an evident promotion and marketing campaign by a single company creating multiple articles and mentions in Wikipedia -- articles which have already been deleted several times for blatant advertising -- in violation of Wikipedia policy. Of course, there are problems with other articles which need to be addressed and you are certainly welcome to discuss those on article talk pages. Offhand, I would think that a 60-year-old trade organization has built enough significant coverage and citation within independent sources (scholarly journals, magazine and newspapers) to be noted. As mentioned to you above, the notability of an organization is defined through significant coverage by independent reliable sources -- and those neutral independent parties will eventually create a page about the organization. CactusWriter (talk) 16:45, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to explain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radicaldoubt (talkcontribs) 17:23, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

Please restore Anandita Sundar

You deleted this page under A7 a short time ago. I declined an A7 on this page yesterday, because an A7 tag had been improperly placed on it while its creator, an inexperienced editor, was still writing their first version. I placed a BLPPROD tag on the article, and informed the creator she had seven days to bring the article up to inclusion standards. Absent an serious content problem (copyvio, BLP violation), I don't see why the editor couldn't have been afforded the courtesy of the standard seven days to complete their initial version. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo) (talk) 18:05, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. I definitely missed that previously declined premature A7 in the edit history -- no discourtesy was intended. The article has now been restored and, although IMO it is a definitive candidate for A7 deletion (not to mention the BLP violation by its mention of real individuals without any sources), it will wait for improvement until next Thursday. Thanks very much. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo) (talk) 02:29, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Unidentified Error.

Hello, there is an error on the map section of Rajnandgaon, and I am not sure what to do. CLCStudent (talk) 19:23, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi CLCStudent. The name for the place on the pushpin map had been changed which resulted in the map not being displayed correctly -- and producing the "unidentified error." I have restored the previous setting for you. It looks fine now. CactusWriter (talk) 19:30, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

ISP Sports page

Excuse me Sir, why do you keep deleting true information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DankToaster (talkcontribs) 21:22, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

The only contribution that I see you associated with is an edit to the hoax page Eyal Shama 32 Pace. However, that was tagged and deleted by other editors. So I'm afraid that I do not know to what you are referring. Please be more specific. CactusWriter (talk) 23:26, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting to the non-copyvio version of the subject article. But as I looked into it, I found one more problem where admin tools could help. Headlines Today was moved without discussion to "India Today (TV channel)" when it fact it should have been moved to "India Today Television", if at all be moved. The channel "Headlines Today" was rebranded as "India Today Television" in May 2015. Our article on HT has a history from 2006 as against to the ITT one which is quite new. Can you hence move the current "India Today (TV channel)" to "India Today Television"? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 04:10, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Dharmadhyaksha. I suggest that you follow the procedure as outlined at Wikipedia:Merging -- that is, create a discussion about the pages in question, explain your reasons, allow time for other editors to discuss and then act according to the consensus. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter (talk) 15:41, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Has been recreated again even though it has been through AFD. Can you delete it and possibly SALT too. It has been recreated at least three times....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 11:43, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Done The article still had the same issues from the AFD -- no significant coverage resulting in WP:TOOSOON. There should eventually be enough coverageI to create a page, so I have protected recreation for only six months at which point there may be enough sourcing for an article. Chaneyverse files

Hi,

Just curious why you didn't include File:Rutherford Cravens as Ben Franklin.jpg, File:JullianneMorris America A Call to Greatness.jpg, and File:Scott Sheldon 3rdBaseman.jpg in the Chaneyverse FfD? The last one sort of makes sense as oddly unrelated, but the other two seem to fall into the same category, no? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 17:12, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Rhododendrites. I appreciate you letting me know that I forgot some. I actually did leave out the baseball pic on purpose: my thinking being that Scott Sheldon was a business partner of Warren Chaney, the photo from a MLB game is obviously legitimate and there is an OTRS record for wherever it came from -- and since it was used in a legitimate manner, I wasn't too concerned about deleting it. I see that another editor has now added the missing photos to the FFD, which is also fine with me. If you spot any others, please feel free to add them the mix. Thanks again. 78.26's RFA Appreciation award

The 78.26 RFA Appreciation award
Thank you for the participation and support at my RFA. It is truly appreciated. I hope to be of further help around here, and if you see me doing something dumb, you know where to find me. Again, I thank you. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 00:00, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Can you SALT this article too? It's a variation of 2016 Miss World which has already been deleted and salted. Somebody did a test edit to the unsalted version and I'd bet $5 there is an article up before New Years if salting isn't done first....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 01:59, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Done -- protected for six months for the same reasons as I mentioned above. CactusWriter (talk) 17:57, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
