October 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm JalenFolf. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Graphix, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jalen Folf (talk) 19:21, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Alwoodjs! Your additions to Graphix have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dan Leonard (talk) 20:17, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You are removing content with no evidence that the information is copyrighted. Alwoodjs (talk) 20:30, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And as an added note I wrote this information for my website https://creativegraphix.com/blog so I am the one who owns the copyright. Alwoodjs (talk) 20:33, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have sent an email regarding my copyrighted material to Wikipedia. Now do I have to make reference to myself in the article?
Thank you for your help. Alwoodjs (talk) 20:47, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your edit to Graphix has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Dan Leonard (talk) 20:35, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am not "warring" with anybody. It does seem unfair that you make changes to something accusing someone of copyright infringement and then when I point out, that you have decided that in error, you send me a notice of "warring" Alwoodjs (talk) 20:54, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023[edit]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 21:09, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are kidding. Alwoodjs (talk) 21:31, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I ask that I be unblocked for the reason that I did not know what your rules were. I have read that anyone can edit a page and that they are entitled to be able to edit. When I made edits to a page that only contained a redirect to a company page someone kept changing it back to being a redirect. I believe that I supplied a well written definition for the word "graphix". The word is used by many to take the place of "graphics". If you do a search of the web, you will see there are many, many uses and users of the word "graphix". The word is not synonymous with the company Scholastic Corporation and should not be a redirect. In fact, the word is part of a trademark owned by myself and my company Creative Graphix. I was not trying to do "disruptive editing", I was trying to protect my edit. What I would really like to know is why each of the people who changed my edit are not making disruptive edits? This is your sand box and if you want to block me, rather than help me correct my edits so be it. Jim SchaleskyAlwoodjs (talk) 22:15, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 22:36, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
