From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yania Tierra is a book-length documentary poem written by Aída Cartagena Portalatín in 1982 that documents the history of the Dominican Republic from the pre-Columbian era up to modern times. Quisqueya, or the Dominican Republic as it was known in the Taíno language, is represented by the female character of Yania and the poem documents the rich history of resistance to foreign occupation and oppression from the oft-ignored perspective of women.

I seek to use the same poetic license and truth-seeking in my daily life, including by contributing in a limited capacity here on Wikipedia. As I'm new to this, wikiveterans may do well to write me and give me tips on form, content and etiquette.
