This page documents several cleverly-mastered hoax articles created by a ring of sock puppets, editing each other's articles and sometimes cross-referencing them.

This investigation was started after some brilliant detective work by Yanksox, which is documented on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christian Portland (July 2006) and also copied below.

Also nominated are Davis Tellman and Lorne Halladay. To put it simply this is a bizzarre case. I originally wondered upon the Portland article when doing New page patrol and asked for sources and was supplied such. When I went to a library near where I worked I actually stumbled upon one of the sources and checked out the book out of curiousity. When I read the book (three times for good measure) I found no mention of these subjects. Confused, I picked the other source and, again, nothing popped up. Concerned, I e-mailed both the Chicago Historical Society and the Chicago Photographic Collectors Society, asking about all three subjects and the Chicago Photographic Society. The CPCS Vice President responding stating, he had no idea whom the people were and that he had never heard of the Chicago Photographic Society, stating that the CPCS (which the article claims was the Chicago Photographic Society), was formed in 1971. After my e-mail with the Chicago Historical Society, I had a phone conversation with them that echoed the same concerns. It appears as far as I can tell, these subjects are ficitious and a hoax. Satchel William Cohen (1922 - 1965) was a Canadian post-modernist poet and writer. He was born in in Toronto, Ontario. While Cohen remained a highly obscure literary figure throughout his lifetime, his publication of Barbarossa's Last Words (1945), a collection of thematically related short poems, earned him a small following in the years after the Second World War. For fifteen years of his life he published nothing and reputedly wrote little, living for a time in Ireland. During the last years of his life he returned to poetry, adopting a short meter style used extensively in his last work Winter Peace (1961).
