Here are some examples of election result tables I have collected from around Wikipedia. On this page are examples of individual election results (with candidate names etc); the examples of summaries (for example, nationwide total votes and seats won in a general election) have been moved to User:Sussexonian/Election_summary_examples.

This example is similar to the above UK example. The turnout has been completed by this creator: note how the Swing title appears as standard even though the concept is not common in US parlance.

Election box inline (US election) example[edit]

Here we have detailed voting from each district in the state. The incumbent is in each case named on the left, with the candidates and results in the right half. There is no blank space separating the different contests, and it is not easy at a glance to spot the winning party in each race nor is there a place to indicate where a seat has changed party (which is the case in district 27 but there's no indication to point this out).

Canadian election template example 1[edit]

This table is similar in outline to the US example above, and uses one table row per electoral district. The party colours clearly show which candidate has won the contest. Incumbents are named in the rightmost column. A drawback is that the layout occupies more space than desired where there are multiple "Other" party candidates.

New York mayoral example[edit]

I have not copied the layout found at New_York_City_mayoral_election,_2009#General_election_returns. This has two unusual features: firstly, the voting figures per candidate are displayed for each of the 5 boroughs of NYC, and secondly the New York elections provide for several parties to endorse a particular mayoral candidate. It would be difficult to accommodate these peculiarities in a general-use results template.
