Congratulations Sango123[edit]

Hey there Sango123 how have you been, me i've being doing great, by the way i saw your user page (clapping, cheering sounds), i just wanted to say congratulations on becoming a Administrator. I know you probably got more work to do, on a large scale compared to me. And to say thank you for everything you've ever done for, i never knew someone would be that nice halfway across the world to me, thank you very much.

ps: By the way, if you have the time i'd like to ask you some questions but if you have the time:

1.Which country are you from?

2.Can you ecplain in detail what a Administrator is?

3.how old are you, 14,15? (never mind this question)

With lots of thanks Dumoren 10:20, 1 December 2005 (UTC).

If you're a Wikipedia contributor, I'd expect some research skills. Maybe some of the links on Sango123's page answer two of your questions, and Wikipedia's documentation explains what an administrator is. (..."became an administrator on July 26" - belated congratulations anyway, I feel). Besides, don't you think it's bad manners to ask a lady her age? --JRawle 13:19, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Barnstar[edit]

I'm just wondering why you archived my barnstar discussion after just one day (this is the proposed barnstar page). I put mine at the bottom of the page so you might have thought that its been there for a while then, but it hasn't so can you please put what I wrote back on the page. Thank you. Question[edit]

I'm not sure if you're the one to ask...but here's a go at it.

When you go to the first Wikipedia page (not the US Main Page), is it because of a Japenese character problem, or is it vandalism that all the characters are question marks?

There. I thought at least because you were an admin you could delegate the problem to someone, or explain why there was a prob. Thanks!--ViolinGirl 18:10, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, Sango. I was confused...that cleared up a lot in my mind, I just switched to Mozilla, thus the reason for the "sudden" change. --ViolinGirl 00:19, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Sure, no prob...my pleasure! --ViolinGirl 00:29, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your greeting[edit]

Sango123 Thank you for your greeting to Wikipedia's newest rookie (me). Looking forward to full participation in the many offerings and opportunities inside. DavidHEW

your message[edit]

Thanks for your message. I generally only try to edit pages where 1. It appears they were done by someone whose first landguage was not English. I try to correct spelling errors and make the article make grammatical sense in English. 2. where two articles contradict each other. On Solomon I of Imereti for example the facts given there don't match up to what is given on the Kings of Imereti page. Some quick online reasearch indicates that what was given on the Kings of Imereti page was coorect, so I edited Solomon I of Imereti to conform.Iwalters 20:32, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

thanking for your welcome[edit]

Thanks, Sango for your welcome, I'l try to find a way to keep your message in a place were I can easily consult your advises. I think I'll love that Wikipedia, since my all life has been dedicated to music, playing it but especially playing unknown masterpieces or unknown composers (the ones with great talent!) ... Onslow, of course, but also H.Woolett, P. Litta (a great italian master!), etc... and, what else are you doing here, but letting peoples know about what they don't know yet?

Jean-Claude

PS I did some small changes in the article on Eugène Ysaÿe, and was surprised to see that there seems to be many copies of that same article (the same version of it), why should that be?

I stole your idea. Is that O.K.?[edit]

I just stole your idea for this talk page layout and used it for my own talk page. I'm a relative newby, and another kind Wikipedian, in trying to help me out, held up your page as an example to the uninitiated. I don't think it was her intention that I appropriate your idea for my own use, but I must confess that this is essentially what I did.

I made some slight changes to the layout, but not enough to be able to fairly say that it was my own idea. I hope you don't mind; though if you do mind I'll quickly oblige you by reverting back to how it was before.

I hope you'll view my imitation as I intended it to be: the sincerest form of flattery.

BD2412's RFA[edit]

Although my RfA is not over yet, I figured that since so many people voted before it had been posted, I may as well start thanking people before it wraps up. Getting rid of vandalizm.[edit]

Thanks for the welcome. Here's my question: How can I get pages that were vandalized back to their previous state? MPN 23:50, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

You click on the "history" button at top of the page, click on the date/time of the version you want to restore, when it loads, you "edit" it without chanigng anything, press save, and the old version becomes the new one. -- ( drini's page ) 23:51, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll put it to use when I find a vandalized page. Another question though (sorry, i'm a total newbie here): How can I add my name to the Counter Vandalizim Unit? I can't see a button or anything. MPN 00:09, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Message from Dumoren (perhaps the last)[edit]

Hey there sango123, how have you been, me i'm been doing great. i read in your user page you became an adminstrator(sp), i knew that long ago and i even sent you a kind message saying congratulation etc. but i was foolish, thinking an administrater(sp) would talk to a regular wikipedian 'sigh'. well it's been great knowing you and i still thank you for everything you've done for me, thanks. Sometimes i hope you haven't forgotten me, but then again, being an adminstrater(sp) means you have to much responsibility to worry about some rookie wikipedia, 'sigh'. Thanks for everything you've every done for me, goodbye.

Farewell(perhaps) Dumoren.

ps: i've also sent other messages to you if you want to know.

query[edit]

Hey there sango123 how have you been, i've be doing great, anyway i got a quesion to ask.

Is it copyright violation to copy onformation from a website and add it to wikipedia. eg: lets say i look up an actor on wiki, there isn't much information, but i find a website which has tons of information aobut him. i copy it, then paste it on wiki.

is it copytight violation?

Dumoren 10:48, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for your welcome. When I get a chance, I may come back to ask a few questions about getting started.

One for now though: Is there a way to approach another user about possibly aquiring his ID? I have an ID I use almost everywhere, but it's taken here. I wouldn't ask if the user appeard to be active, bit he or she has no entries, no profile, nothing. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Deleted contribution[edit]

Thank you for welcoming me to wikipedia. I am a bit confused, however, as to why my first contribution has disappeared and I got no notice that it was to be deleted, etc. I don't see why my page was controversial, it was simply a bio on a well-known Chicago-based patent attorney. Hello[edit]

Essentially, that's all I have to say at the moment. I do have a question about etiquette vs. be bold, however. I wish to completely re-write an entry (from a professional perspective) that I think is rather lacking, in that the existing article mostly presents a view that is more or less completely debunked by scholars. It is well illustrated and has some good links, though. However, is this unspeakably rude to the person who wrote the original? I don't want to come off as calling them an idiot--that is not my intention at all--but the vast majority of the information that, say, an undergraduate or high school senior would want to know about the topic is not even mentioned. Is it within the bounds of etiquette to put in a short blurb that contains a more proper definition and re-presents the original article as an example of one of the controversies in the field (until I have the time to write a more complete article)? Thanks! Mander 14:06, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

has twice reverted paragraphs that I commented-out with questions and notes that I believe needed addressing. Rather than make meaningful clarifications, the person simply reverts with some minimal acknowledgment on the talk page.

Here are the grafs in question -- segments of his/her text followed a combination of my notes/questions in-between his two reverts. Thanks. I'll post this on his page as well so that everything's aboveboard.

TEXT: Dan DiDio has stated that Infinite Crisis was being planned in some form for two years prior to its launch, starting with the "death" of Donna Troy. The leadup was mostly quite understated until the release of the Adam Strange miniseries, at which point rumors began to swell that DC was planning a very large event, stemming partially from Identity Crisis, and partially from the events in Adam Strange.

QUESTION/NOTE: What is the encyclopedic value of reporting that rumors were swelling? Rumors are always swelling about anything and everything, and unless rumors have an impact that change subsequent events, they have no encyclopedic weight.

TEXT: The lead-in to Infinite Crisis also saw a number of long-time DC writers depart as well, however. Jeph Loeb and Ed Brubaker both went exclusively to Marvel Comics in the lead-up to Infinite Crisis.

QUESTION/NOTE: There's suggestion of a causal relationship between Infinite Crisis and writers departing for another company. If not, what relevance is this information? If there is causality above, please demonstrate. People move from one company to another all the time for many different reasons.

TEXT: Reports from DC editorial also suggest that despite the lengthy planning going into Infinite Crisis, as it approaches, DC's editorial practice has become increasingly spontaneous, with late cancellation of a fifth Infinite Crisis miniseries, to be called Amazons Attack, and a number of post-IC titles being cancelled almost as soon as they're announced.

QUESTION/NOTE: "reports suggest"? What reports, firstly, and what do the reports actually say? Why not quote and provide a link? Also, "suggest" is interpretive. That's contrary to Wiki policy, which relies on facts. Tell us what DC said and give us quotes from other sources if necessary, and leave interpretation out of it.

TEXT: The strong editorial investment in Infinite Crisis has also led to some sniping between DC and its rival Marvel Comics. In the preface to Prelude to Infinite Crisis, DiDio ended by asking "Why settle for a House when you can have [the DC] Universe," a shot at Marvel's House of M event at the time. Joe Quesada, the editor-in-chief at Marvel later fired back, suggesting that DC's comics were "corporate" driven, whereas Marvel's were "creator" driven. [2]

QUESTION/NOTE: Sniping between companies is typical and not of encyclopedic weight unless it actually has some effect on the companies or the industry. Otherwise, it's just true gossip. Please explain how the following is relevant or different from any other business situation, or even any other comics-industry situation?

TEXT: The companies renewed competition in the form of "big events" has also been the subject of coverage in the mainstream media, including the New York Times.

QUESTION/NOTE: The above might be a good addition. How about quoting a line from the times, or providing a link to the article, or a citation, as per Wiki:Verifiability?

Sorry for reverts[edit]

Sorry for reverts on Lodge committee, I was just showing my family how wikipedia works. Travb 22:00, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your diligence, I am shocked how fast you changed it back--within less than a minute--I was about to change it back, and there was an edit conflict. Nice job. I wrote and created Lodge committee 99.9% of it, and it is awesome to know that there are people like you out there policing my hard work. thanks. Next time I will use sandbox--I never have used it before.Travb 22:10, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer, possbily later, I do watch some frequent vandals talk pages and report them to the proper people.
One of the many things that I love about wikipedia is almost everyone can find a "nitch" to add great work. One of your nitches is the vital job of policing pages, and stopping vandals. I personally am not interested in doing this now (maybe later). Instead I enjoy spending all my time greatly expanding bits of history into exhastively researched works, with a million footnotes; I also like to argue with people about what I see as heavy handed deletions on sometimes controversial pages.
That is what is so AWESOME about wikipedia--we all have an important job to do here. Thanks again for your vital work. Again, I was SO impressed how quick this was reverted.Travb 22:27, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Deleting or amending a redirect[edit]

Hi Sango123 Somebody has done a re-direct on the words modeling clay (American spelling) - TO Plasticine. I am happy to write a general composition on modelling clay (English) but it is wrong to redirect a broad generic term to a specific Brand even if it is now generic. The redirect should be deleted and in its place there should be a link to Plasticine but I have no idea how to do it. It is a bit technical for me. When that is done, we can get down to an in depth article on modelling clays. Another thing - the writer of the article on Plasticine mixes in English and American spellings. Consistency would be helpful. I am quite happy to edit that article and as it is directed from Modeling Clay and as Plasticine was invented by an American, I suppose the spellings should all be Americanese although I don't write it being English. (Have you an opinion on this?) There should also be a category called Modelling Clay which perhaps should be redirected to Modeling Clay (as that title is already there) so everybody of all linguistic persuasions could have a gateway to this subject. This has been bugging me for some time but I am stuck on the redirect thing.

I've got to admit - I've been a bad user. Back before Wiki had the editor login to create articles, I was jamming away without logging in.
