The Transversal Theater Company is an ensemble of American and European artists based in Southern California and Amsterdam,founded in 2003.It is an experimental theater company known for creating original dramatic works that explores the social-cognitive theory, performance aesthetics, and research methodology of transversal poetics.The products of this practice-as-research have been various and far-reaching, including a theory of acting and design aesthetics. Transversal Theater has toured productions to festivals and other venues in eight countries, such as the national theaters of Poland and Romania and the Gdansk International Shakespeare Festival[1] .
The ensemble was founded by Bryan Reynolds but works based on a collaborative model. Notable collaborators have included Robert Cohen, Gary Busby, Richard Brestoff, Bob Boross[2], and Oscar Seip[3] , amongst many other emerging and established artists and academics.
Transversal Theater company is a not-for-profit theater company that relies on grants and donations from supporters. It has recieved grants from the Lifelong Learning Programme in partnership with European Polytheater[4] .
