Xyllomer is a MUD, and runs on a machine based in Germany using Dworkin's Generic Driver, a derivitive of LPMud. It was started in January 1991 at the University of Paderborn under the name Padermud, and runs to this day.
The geographical location of the server still lies in Germany, although now it is hosted by a former player and administrator. This fantasy/Middle Ages roleplaying game is a text based played in the English language. The size of the fantasy world amounts to over 10,000 rooms and functions completely. The roleplay stands in the foreground, but player-killing (PK) is always a possibility. One must have a good reason for killing a fellow player, though, or they might be accused in one of the in-game courts of law. There are many guilds (magicians, fighters, clerics, bards etc.), an amalgamation of players with the same interests that play, work, and fight together in this fantasy world. Most guilds have their own quests, but there are hundreds of public quests as well. Some quests reward you with coins (which can be used to buy weapons, armour, and even ships) and all quests grant experience, which is automatically used to upgrade the character.
The world is ruled by the players. There are few exceptions where the administrators (in this MUD, they are known as wizards) must interfere, most of the time the players can utilize the games system of local court systems to solve their disputes.
There is a large trade network of medieval goods used to earn great sums of money, although players must occasionally travel great distances to reach the trade posts. The Xyllomer game world is gigantic, and due to a team of administrators working on new areas, will continue to grow throughout the years.
Xyllomer is increased becomes a project that again and again with new programmed contents. An end is not to be seen, the world becomes larger (new continents), the code gets to learn often a new Feature as well as for example a complete code for a full useful business system around there single craft natured (armament fabrication, weapons smith, Holzschnitzerei etc.). The Wizards attend to the programming and are stopped in addition not to interfere into the game and the game world. They have fits only for that that of all to worries smooth on each other and agrees the balance of the many Guilds. Only in exceptions, the Wizards disputes of simple or fraud (Cheater) of the game can and should exclude to guarantee around a comfortable playing for the remainder of the players.
