About Me

Rick Kughen is a writer, editor, and fishing bum who lives in Kokomo, Indiana. He has more than 30 years of professional editing and writing experience. He is a former executive editor for Pearson Education in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he worked for nearly 20 years. He’s now a full-time freelance writer and editor; he and his wife own and operate The Wordsmithery, a freelance editorial company. Rick provides development editing, copy editing, writing, and proofreading for some of the world's largest publishing houses. In a previous life, he was a newspaper reporter and columnist who covered police and criminal courts news. He also did a stint in city government where he was a hired-gun writer. He is a fine graduate of Ball State University where he moonlighted as a student. Kughen is an avid fisherman, writer, fly tyer, bait manufacturer, and baseball card collector. He is a devoted fan of both the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Reds, and he is an incurable audiophile. He is the superhero known as Adjective Man (action figures sold separately). You may follow his blog, Dances with Bass.

Rick edits a variety of Wikipedia pages but focuses mostly on his first love, Major League Baseball.
