I just hope we've got enough stuff for the singles. Oh, I wanted to ask now that we've got all the main stuff done: Do you think it would be worth getting Slipknot (band) up to FA? We could get a peer review and then scan through it pretty throughly. I added another timeline. We should obviously pick one or the other. I think the one with the releases shows better how all nine members have stayed together so well, but we'll probably mention that in the prose anyway. I was gonna start writing prose for some of the members, but a quick scan of each of their articles turned up very few sources, I'm sure we'll be able to find some. I actually started a list for one of my other favorite bands in my sandbox. Basically I wrote a history of the band, with a large concentration on the members. It is longer than the NIN one, even though there are only nine members total, so maybe we could split it up or something. List of Major League Baseball players from Puerto Rico has a second section after the intro, but I'm not sure we'll have enough for something that size. Black ngold29 02:37, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

I think it's reasonable. It's difficult to trim it down because there are so many people. If there are any problems we could always move info out of the intro and into the individual people's sections. I actually did the opposite with List of Dream Theater band members, the intro is long, but each person doesn't have their own recap. I went through the band members prose and fixed a few minor things. Sentences that start "In [year]" are usually followed by a comma, but other than that it was good. The only thing I'm wondering about is at the end of the first paragraph when it says a "turntablist", Is turntablist a word? I mean, we won't nominate it until we've taken care of most of this other stuff, but we could start being really picky with it sense there aren't any issues to fix with the noms at the moment. Yeah, I don't care what we do; I just figured we could do something while we're waiting for all the reviews to start happening. If you have any preferences of who or what to do next... If we are gonna do a member we should probably find a "model article" and then use that for each member, just like how each album article was pretty similar. I guess we'll be learning together 'cause I don't know a ton. Basically we start with 5 of everyting (pictures, biographies, etc.) Each one is subtitled: Portal:Slipknot/Selected article/4 with the 4 changing for each one (Selected article 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). I have all of the articles done (there's seven). Basically I went through and copy and pasted the intro paragraph from each good article that we wrote. I think if we want to get it to a Featured Portal we'll eventually have to add them. But until we go through and clean everybody's up it would probably look nicer to leave it out. Wow, that's a lot of stuff. I think that we could move some of the stuff from the current "Musical and lyrical themes" section to "Promotion". Taylor's quote about ripping faces off isn't that descriptive of lyrical themes. I don't know if we should divide it up by song or not. I re-wrote Systematic Chaos and had enough to mention each song. When I wrote it I put all of the songs in one section of two paragraphs, since then somebody split them all up. I don't think each song has enough to have it's own section, like this one, yet. I did think about putting them like they are now in your sandbox, with the bolded heading for each song, but not a real "heading". I'm sure we'll be able to figure something out. I was thinking the same thing, maybe we should do whichever article is the most popular. I think most people would look at the albums first, then probably the members. Corey and Joey are two the come to mind when I think "most popular", since they've done some other side projects. I don't know how good we'll be able to get any members, because they purposely keep their personal lives private. "Duality" and "Before I Forget" are probably the two most popular singles (I think we should wait for the new ones), we could probably write a pretty good reception section for either of those. Are the Equiptment sections really necessary? I don't play the drums, but I don't think too many people are coming on looking for that specific of info ("Ow, he uses a 14" x 12" Tom" lol). You know, I don't think we really need a Style section. If you can find sources then great, but if we can finish the intro and bulk up the Slipknot section a little more I think the length is OK. In an semi-related note, I watched Metal: A Headbanger's Journey on YouTube after I saw it in Joey's filmog. He's only in it breifly with Corey, but overall I thought it was an excellent documentary. He's wearing it in the picture with Metallica there, but that was right after a Slip concert so that'd be why. I was going through the article (backwards as I usually do) and I thought that "Jordison has always been closely involved in almost every aspect..." (1st two sentences of 3rd "Other musical endeavours" paragraph) seemed out of place. It should probably be in Slipknot or Murderdolls section, thoughts? As for the "Style" section, I think we can wait and see. If the GA reviewer requests one then we could probably throw something together, but I don't think it's vital. I just c/e'd the whole article and I think it's ready for a GAN, you can take a last look over it if you want to. You can throw that Kerrag! stuff in there too if you want. I was trying to upload some picture from flickr to the commons, but for some reason they won't show up. I was using Bryan's tool which seemed easy enough, but I guess not. I don't think a paragraph for each song, but I think a few senteces on each are a possibility. It would be good if we could figure out a way to divide them up into two or three paragraphs based on something. Heavy and light songs? Or just go in order? In only a few months we've gotten all the albums (and "demos" lol) up to GA or FA status; and by doing that I think we've kind of completed "phase I" of WP:SLIP; awesome. Probably the best month so far for the project. Two GAs, two more GANs, one FAC and one FLC. All albums and DVDs are now high quality albums, with the exception of All Hope Is Gone which is expected to become a GA shortly after release.

Slipknot have began their tour throughout the United States on the Mayhem festival. However, after breaking both heels from a 12 foot on-stage jump #0 will be performing the remainder of the tour in a wheelchair. The band will be featured in next week's issue of Kerrang!. There are nine different collectable covers (one with each member of the band) for only the third time in magazine history. Their first music video of All Hope Is Gone for the song "Psychosocial" premiered last night.

The image was only a "Special edition cover". Usually, allowable alternate images are those of deluxe editions. The image fails to comply WP:NFCC#8. Sorry for the unspecific edit summary but that is usually my summaries. --Efe (talk) 13:11, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to the fifth Slipknot WikiProject Newsletter, dated Monday, September 22, 2008.
Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) is the project's first Featured Article
List of Slipknot band members is a Featured List
Disasterpieces, Voliminal: Inside the Nine and All Hope Is Gone are all Good Articles
9.0: Live is currently a Featured Article Candidate
List of Slipknot awards was featured on the WP:Main Page as part of WP:DYK and is currently a Featured List Candidate

From the editors

We apologize about forgetting to do a newsletter last month, but the last two months have been really good for the project. We got our first FA, another FL, a further three GAs, plus a FLC and FAC in process. All Hope Is Gone is currently the AoF with the intention of becoming a featured article, so help out were possible.

Slipknot are currently taking a break from touring due to Joey Jordison breaking his ankle, it is rumoured that they have been shooting a music video for their next single "Dead Memories", which will feature Corey Taylor in some kind of mud pit/grave. Slipknot will return to touring in October and will be touring Asia, Europe and Australia until December, reportedly returning for an arena tour of the US next year.
