Thiruthangal Nadar College (Tamil: திருதங்கல் நாடார் கல்லூரி) is a college in Kodungaiyur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Science and Arts courses offered include BSc (Bachelor of Science), BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application), MSc (Master of Science),M.S.W It also offers arts courses such as B.Com and B.B.A. etc.

Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars, settled in Chennai planned to form an organization for their welfare, assembled at Backia Bhavanam (located in Tondiarpet, Chennai) of T.A.S. Rathinam & Brothers, on 14th September, 1956 . 52 persons attended the meeting, and established The Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund (a Charitable Fund of Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars living in Chennai). The first Anniversary was held on 15th September 1957 . The said fund was registered in 1961 under the Societies Registration Act. This organization was established with the arduous efforts of Thiru. S.Gurusamy Nadar of Thiruthangal, Thiru.P.S.Thangaiah Nadar of Rajapalayam, Thiru.T.A.S. Arumugam of Chennai. In the early periods of the establishment of the Uravinmurai Fund, Thiru.T.A.S. Chelliah served as President and Thiru.S.M. Gurusamy Nadar, Thiru "Lathas" K. Thangappa Nadar, Thiru.S. Chinnadurai have collectively rendered yeomen service for the growth of the organization in the initial period of its establishment.
The next milestone event took place in 1968 when the organization purchased a site in G.A. Road , (Now P.A.N. Rajarathinam Road), Washermenpet, Chennai-21. In the said site, a magnificent building with Door No. 113, named as Thiruthangal Nadar Arangam-en epitome of the Member's unity and solidarity was constructed with the great efforts of Thiru.M.G.Erulangudi Nadar, Treasure of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar uravinmurai Dharma fund who was fondly addressed as "Elam Hariharaputranar". The Arangam was inaugurated on 23rd May 1983 to serve the community at large. The following persons served as the Office Bearers of the Uravinmurai Dharma Fund during the year 1980-83.
Another turning point in the organization is the establishment of "Thiruthangal Nadar Educational Society" as part of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund on 20th September 1987 . The society was registered under TamilNadu Registration Act 1975. The first set of office Bearers was Thiru. S.M. Gurusamy Nadar - President, Thiru. A.S. Vellaichami Nadar - Vice President, Thiru. R.G. Chandramogan - Secretary, Thiru. S. Chandran - Asst. Secretary and Thiru. C. Kanirathnam Treasurer.
Despite its financial constraints, the Educational Society, with its noble idea of service purchased 7.56 acres of land in the
Selavayal area of Chennai 600 051, in the year 1990. A compound wall enclosed the total area. 18,000 sq.ft. building was constructed. On 3rd August, 1997 the " Thiruthangal Nadar College " for men was started as an Arts and Science College , as a Self-Financing Institution without any grant or aid or subsidies from the Government for its maintenance. The fee collected from the students is comparatively lesser than the Government prescribed fee. There is no collection of donation or other kinds of receipts from the parents. Compared to other self-financing Colleges, the College teachers are paid a decent salary. The College has been functioning to cater to the needs of a backward area purely with an altruistic ideal of providing higher education at a moderate cost without any discrimination of caste or creed.
Dr. A.P. Kamalakara Rao was the first Principal of the College. In the first academic year (1997-98) the college offered five courses, namely B.Com., B.C.S., B.B.A., B.Sc(Mathematics) and B.Sc., (Computer Science). There were were eleven Lecturers, a Librarian and a Physical Director. 11,000 sq.ft, building was constructed on the ground floor and the first floor during the year 1998-99 and 1999-2000 respectively. Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A) was started in the academic year 1999-2000 and M.Sc (Information Technology) was started in the academic year 2001-2002.
Dr.K.V. Balaji Prasad, took over as the second Principal of the College, on 18th August 2000 . During his tenure as principal the College has organized two annual convocations and two intercollegiate cultural festival. The college has assigned due importance to the Library. A well-furnished and well-equipped library with 6500 books,
50 periodicals and newspapers and journals, have been rendering service to the students and the teachers. Sizable funds are allotted every year towards the purchase of new books.
Four well-equipped fully air-conditioned state-of-art Computer Laboratories (For U.G. and P.G. Courses) are functioning in the College. Each student is provided with one computer so as to provide effective practical training and to impart latest Knowledge which is tuned to the need of Industry.
The College has carefully planned and provided for the Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Basketball, Kabadi, Tennikoit, Handball, Kho-Kho, Cricket and athletic activities in the campus. A Cricket Pitch and a separate net practice pitch were laid during the year 2002-2003. A moderately furnished Gym is also available. A Canteen is alsofunctioning within the College Campus. Decent food is provided for moderate prices.
Thiruthangal Nadar College has become a co-educational Institution from the academic year 2002-2004. Additional facilities are provided for the women students. At present the College has two buses, four vans and a car.
Dr. K. Sengotti, former Professor and Head, Department of Public Administration, ICE, University of Madras assumed the office of Principal on September 2, 2002 . During his tenure the strength of the college was more than doubled and he successfully organized the third, fourth and fifth annual convocation and appreciably planned and executed and interschool competition for three times with an envious participation of 1000 students from more than 50 schools. Adding to the list of existing courses M.Com Course was started in the academic year 2003-2004.
In the year 2003, an auditorium to the extent of 7500 sq.ft. With a capacity of 900 seats and a separate Block for U.G. and P.G. Commerce course in the first floor of the auditorium were constructed. The building is named after S.M. Gurusamy Nadar G. Valliammal and the auditorium in the name of M.G. Erulangudi Nadar E. Valliammal.
On 30 th April 2004 the Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund had Purchased 14.5 grounds of land worth about Rs. 1.5 crores at No. 1050, T.H. Road , Chennai-600019 to establish " THIRUTHANGAL NADAR MATRICULATION HIGH SCHOOL " 7000 sq.ft. building was constructed on the eastern side of the main building during the year 2005-2006 to accommodate the newly admitted students. Further 2000 sq.ft. building was constructed on the I floor of the eastern side of the main building during the year 2006-2007.
Dr. M. Jeyakodi was appointed the fourth Principal on December 12, 2005 , Following him Dr. S. Kanmani took over as the fifth Principal on August 21, 2006 . Presently the mantle of Principal has been taken by Dr. R. Revathi on March 28, 2007 as the Sixth Principal of the College.
At present there are Sixty one Lecturers, with the contingent of 1939 students (1014 boys and 925 girls).
The College has enabled the students to pursue their individual interests by choosing among a wide range of courses. Hence three new courses are introduced this year to add up to the vivid array. The new courses offered by the college, namely B.Sc(Software Engineering),B.Com(A/F),B.Com(B/M) will bring forth many professionals in addition to the existing ones who will be greatly in need as these courses will serve the need of the society.
To cater to the needs of the growing institution the management has taken to steps construct a new block in the college campus to develop the infrastructural facilities.
The placement cell of the college has a vast network and tie up with many Companies and organizations and arranges campus interviews through which many of our students were already employed and it is certain that many of our current students will step out as professionals with appointment orders in their hands.
Due importance is given to the field of sports and students are trained and encouraged to participate in many events at many levels and have bagged many prizes and brought glory to the institution which will be an infinite process.
The students are motivated to involve in the NSS and hold on to its Motto "Not me, but you" and have contributed to many of the activities conducted at many places and are moulded to lend out a helping hand to the society in dire situations.

The plethora of awards won by the students of Thiruthangal Nadar College stand testimony to their brilliance.The college has successfully conducted eight convocations since its inception.
Cultural Activities[edit]
The College organizes cultural events every year on a grand scale. The Department also organizes cultural events through their respective Departmental Associations. Talented youngsters are given opportunities to participate in cultural competitions in the college. Thiruthangal Nadar College establishes strong bonds for sustained cordial relationships among the students based on mutual trust.
Apart from hosting culturals our college encourages the Students to participate in Cultural Activities held in other Leading Colleges. Our Students grabbed all First and Second places in which they have participated.
