Hurricane Galaxy was the most deadliest, costliest, and the strongest tropical cyclone ever recorded in both pressure and wind speeds. It has a minimum pressure of 640 mbar with maximum sustained winds up to 420 mph (675 kph). The 7th named storm, the 2nd hurricane, and the 1st major hurricane of the season of the hyperactive 2030 Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Galaxy originated from a trough off the coast of Africa, it kept organizing until obtaining the name Galaxy, it rapidly intensify as it moves west, it made a devastating landfall in Barbados and St Lucia, and later made another landfall in Jamaica and Cuba, with winds up to 420 mph. A nuclear winter happened in Cuba after a power plant and mountain collapsed. It made another historic landfall in southern Florida, a few days later, it made a direct category 5 landfall on New York City, it caused mass devastation and destruction across the city, and the Statue of Liberty's head completely got knocked off. It later became a powerful extratropical cyclone, impacting Canada, Greenland, Northern Europe, and Russia until losing its identity.

Meteorological history[edit]

On June 25, the National Hurricane Center started monitoring an area of low pressure off the coast of Africa, producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. On June 29, the system became better organized, and the National Hurricane Center issued it as Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven. The system gradually organized until it was given the name Tropical Storm Galaxy on July 1. It continued strengthen rapidly as it moves west, On the same day, it was classified as Hurricane Galaxy for reaching winds up to 75 mph. On July 2, Galaxy became a category 3 major hurricane as it approaches the Lesser Antilles. Following the next day, the storm successfully reaches Category 5 status, with winds up to 160 mph. The storm kept moving west, rapidly intensifying for another two days, until making landfall on the island of Barbados on July 5, with winds up 205 mph, making it the strongest landfall ever recorded. It caused a lot of damage Around 3 hours later, it made landfall on the island of St Lucia, with winds up to 210 mph, completely beating its old record of 205 mph, The Pitons, one of its famous landmarks almost collapsed. For the next day, it kept moving west until stops and stalls around the Caribbean Sea, allowing extreme rapid intensification. It starts moving northward until making landfall in Jamaica on July 8 with winds up to 400 mph, beating its old record again. Almost half of the island were flooded due to the hurricane. It continues moving north until making landfall in Cuba with winds up to 410 mph, again beating its old record. Shortly after leaving Cuba, Galaxy starts moving west again until making landfall in the Key West, Florida on July 10 with winds of 415 mph, making it the strongest US storm landfall. Galaxy starts moving northward again and makes landfall in Mainland Florida, near Cape Coral with winds of 420 mph, making it the strongest storm landfall in the human history. It rapidly weaken to 165 mph, and passes through Florida northeast out into the ocean again, the storm did intensify a little more, it stays off coast of the East Coast, but rip currents and swells caused more dangers across The Carolinas, it suddenly start to go straight north towards New England, and soon many hurricane warnings and watches were issued for the Northeastern US. On July 15, it made a direct landfall on New York City with winds up to 165 mph, making it the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the Northeastern US, and the first Category 5 to make landfall in New York City, it was the worst hurricane to ever affect the city throughout its entire history, and the Statue of Liberty's head got completely knocked off by the winds and collapsed into debris and dusts. It rapidly weaken and turned Extratropical on July 16 with winds up to 115 mph. It caused more severe impacts in Canada until finally leaving out into the sea, a ship in Lake Erie was destroyed because of the hurricane, but everyone aboard survived. The National Hurricane Center issued its last advisory on July 20, 2030, but the storm delivers more impacts to Greenland, Europe, and Russia. In St. Petersburg, Russia, over 25 foot of snow were recorded during a unusual late-season winter in Northern Europe.

Preparations and impact[edit]

Lesser Antilles[edit]

Barbados[edit]

Galaxy made landfall in Barbados on July 5, around 78 percent of its island got sinked into the ocean, and over thousands of buildings got demolished. In Bridgetown, Barbados capitol city, over ten thousands of people were forced to evacuate due to the hurricane, 75 percent of the buildings were damaged, with 10 percent of it completely being destroyed. Around 10 percent of its entire country's economy were gone because of the hurricane.

St Lucia[edit]

3 hours after making landfall in Barbados, the hurricane made another landfall in St. Lucia, extensive damage was made, and around 12 percent of its national economy were gone because of the hurricane. Hundreds of building were damaged and destroyed. Around 25 percent of its entire island nation got sinked underwater, The Pitons, one of the islands mountains, almost collapsed, severe landslides impacted its surrounding environment due to the hurricane.

Jamaica[edit]

On July 8, Hurricane Galaxy made landfall in southern Jamaica with winds up to 400 mph, again beating its old wind record. A few percent of its entire national economy were gone due to the hurricane. In Kingston, Jamaica, almost 10 percent of its city was sunk underwater, and half of the buildings were damaged, with 10 percent of them being destroyed, a EF5 tornado also unexpectedly spawned in the eyewall of Hurricane Galaxy, it landed in Montego Bay, Jamaica, around 75 percent of the structures in the town was completely destroyed. The country will never forget this hurricane.

Cuba[edit]

Galaxy made landfall in Western Cuba with winds up to 410 mph. In Santiago de Cuba, every single buildings were destroyed, except for the tall skyscrapers structures. Pico Turquino, the tallest peak in Cuba, completely collapsed. Dust and debris fill the air in Cuba, everybody across the world were extremely shocked of what happened. Over hundreds of thousands of trees were pollen down, a power plant also blew up because of the hurricane, and toxic chemicals were leaked into the Caribbean Sea, killing tons of sea creatures. A nuclear winter happened in Cuba, and a very rare blizzard was created from Hurricane Galaxy outer bands. Power in Cuba went out for months, and the country will never forget this hurricane. Cuba made a official holiday on July 9 naming it Hurricane Day to remember this extremely historic and insane day of 2030.

Greater Antilles[edit]

Severe damages happened.

Dominican Republic[edit]

Severe damages happened.

Haiti[edit]

The Bahamas[edit]

United States[edit]

"It was absolutely horrible. It was horror going through this. I will never, EVER, forget this monster storm. Worse than Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ian, everything. Horrible."

Florida[edit]

As the hurricane made landfall on the coast of Cape Coral, Florida, mass devastation severe damages were reported. Many areas were very severely flooded due to very intense storm surges caused by the record wind-speeds from the hurricane.

Georgia and South Carolina[edit]

Outer bands of Hurricane Galaxy bought heavy rain and gusty winds across Georgia. Over 20 tornadoes touched down in Georgia, with one of them living for a whole entire day, going from southern Georgia to the South Carolina border of North Carolina. Severe thunderstorms were reported in these two states, and hail were measured to be the size of a football. Over 10,000 buildings got damaged or destroyed, and thousands of people were forced to evacuate. Over 200 people were reported dead, mainly because of the tornadoes.

New York[edit]

On July 15, Hurricane Galaxy made a direct landfall on New York City, becoming one of the few storms to do so, and it was also the first Category 5 hurricane to directly make landfall on the state of New York, as well as New England and the entire Northeastern US, a quarter of the city's population were missing, with 10 percent of the city's population found dead. Many people from places such as Long Island and upstate New York were also found missing or dead. The Statue of Liberty's head was completely knocked off due to the extreme winds the city could never handle, it crashed on to it's island, causing many damage to the Liberty Island. Millions of people were in danger because of the storm. The World Trade Center memorial pool was significantly flooded too.

New Jersey[edit]

The state received somewhat similar damage to New York City, but less severe as it's not in the very center of the storm, but still received eyewall wind forces which caused many severe damages as the state is mostly prone to hurricanes.

New England[edit]

Though not taking a direct landfall, some areas of New England were still devastated. Storm surges over 100 ft was recorded and was called a "Hurricane Tsunami". In Connecticut, 25 percent of the state was sunked underwater, the rest of the state has majority of its structures and trees completely destroyed. The same applys for Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but damages were less than what happened in Connecticut. After the storm turned extratropical, it still sustained hurricane-force winds to poll down millions of trees and cause severe damage in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. It was also the strongest storm to ever affect New England.

Atlantic Canada[edit]

Shortly after transitioning into a extratropical cyclone, hurricane-force winds were felt across Quebec and Ontario. Heavy rain and flooding were felt across Canada. Over 15 in were recorded in Montreal, Canada. A ship in Lake Erie carrying 105 people aboard sunk, luckily all people got rescued, but most of them were seasick. In New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, heavy rain and tropical storm-force winds were felt across the regions. Hundreds of trees were pollen down by the winds. Around 40 people were forced into emergency evacuation. The outer bands also brought severe impacts to Greenland, injuring many.

Elsewhere[edit]

Due to the storms phenomenal intensity, many life-threatening rip currents hits the western coast of Africa. Even more dangerous rip currents hit Bermuda, forcing all beaches to close. The same applys for the Carribean, United States, Canada, and Europe.

In North Carolina, severe thunderstorms were reported across the southern portion of the state due to the outer bands of Hurricane Galaxy. Over 5 inches of rain were recorded, a tornado reached the border between the two Carolinas. Swells and rip currents generated by the hurricane caused more dangers along the coast. Severe damages were also felt in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Ohio.

The extratropical remnants of Hurricane Galaxy became the last storm of the 2029-30 European windstorm season, many impacts were done, severe flooding and thunderstorms were reported across United Kingdom, France, and Ireland, it also brought extreme blizzards across Greenland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Severe impacts were also felt in Denmark, Finland, and Russia. Over 25 foot of snow were recorded in St. Petersburg, Russia, during a unusual late-season winter over northern Europe.

Aftermath[edit]

Very severe damages were recorded across the Caribbean, US, Canada, and Europe. It is the worst natural disaster in history.

Retirement[edit]

The name Galaxy was retired in the spring of 2031 even though it was its first time using it after replacing Gordon in 2024, the name will never be used again for its devastation it caused in the Caribbean, United States, Canada, and Europe.
