  • 12:00 UTC (4:00 p.m. UTC+04:00) at 17°54′S 63°00′E / 17.9°S 63.0°E / -17.9; 63.0 – Meteo-France reports that Severe Tropical Storm Berguitta has rapidly strengthened into an Intense Tropical Cyclone about 205 km (125 mi) north-northwest of Rodrigues. It simultaneously reaches its peak intensity, with wind speeds of 165 km/h (105 mph) and a minimum pressure of 940 mbar (27.76 inHg).[6]
  • 12:00 UTC (4:00 p.m. UTC+04:00) at 15°18′S 41°18′E / 15.3°S 41.3°E / -15.3; 41.3 – Meteo-France reports that Tropical Disturbance 04 has strengthened into a Tropical Depression about 170 km (105 mi) northeast of Angoche, Mozambique, simultaneously reaching its peak intensity with winds of 45 km/h (30 mph) and a minimum pressure of 999 mbar (29.50 inHg).[7]

  • 18:00 UTC (10:00 p.m. UTC+04:00) at 14°06′S 82°42′E / 14.1°S 82.7°E / -14.1; 82.7 – Meteo-France reports that Intense Tropical Cyclone Cebile has reached its peak intensity, with 10-minute sustained winds of 185 km/h (115 mph) and a minimum pressure of 944 mbar (27.88 inHg) about 2,140 km (1,330 mi) east-southeast of Rodrigues.[8]

  2. ^ Tropical Cyclone is a designation used by Meteo-France to describe cyclones which have sustained wind speeds between 118 and 165 km/h.
