Francis Tayag (born December 3, 2002), known professionally as 650FRANCIS, is an American singer, rapper, producer, musician, and songwriter from San Francisco, California. He is best known for his songs "All Night" and "Never Change".

Biography[edit]

Born to a Chinese American mother, Leanne Young, Filipino father Rene Tayag, and raised in neighboring Daly City, Francis began pursuing a music career at just 12 years old. He has a younger sister named Christie. Since he was a child, he had a love for music, learning to sing and play the piano at the age of 6. As a child, he attended Panorama Elementary School in Daly City and Lipman Middle School in Brisbane, California. A diligent student, he won various school awards for community service, academics, theater, and placed 3rd in the Technology category at the San Mateo County STEM Fair. He graduated from Terra Nova High School in Pacifica, California in 2021 and currently attends California State University, Fullerton.

Career[edit]

In May 2015, he began to upload songs to SoundCloud, recording songs in GarageBand on his iPhone. While at Lipman Middle School, he established two groups - L3GACI (who disbanded in 2017) and 650 TDN, the former a R&B singing group and the latter a rap collective. He began attending Terra Nova High School in Pacifica in 2017, and started to write, produce and record his own music using FL Studio and Logic Pro when recording at local youth program Project Level in San Francisco. He returned from hiatus in September 2018 with a remix of Ella Mai's hit song "Trip". He released his debut single "All Night" on February 1st, 2019 to streaming services, which gained him popularity around the Bay Area. He performed 21 shows in 2019, releasing "Day Ones" (a collaborative effort with high school friend and fellow artist Yung Siggy and OFMB DK, who helped with Francis' first recordings during their time at Project Level). He took a short hiatus from music and touring, returning with "All Night (The City Remix)" (featuring Stunnaman02 and Philly B), and "Never Change", the former being added to radio and premiering on local radio station 106.1 KMEL on December 1, 2019.

Citing the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of inspiration and passion, Francis took a break from making music in mid-2020, only releasing a few remixes of trending songs. Graduating from Terra Nova High School in 2021, he began attending Cal State Fullerton that fall, majoring in computer science. He is set to graduate in May 2025. Over 3 years after his last single 'Never Change', on May 5th, 2023, he released his first solo single entitled "All on You", followed by the release of the remix of "Waste No Time" by fellow San Francisco artist NLS Huncho.
