The Millennium Odyssey - One Name Lithuania (Lithuanian: Tūkstantmečio odisėja - vienas vardas Lietuva) is sailing around the world by Lithuanian sailors, to mark millennium celebration of Lithuania's name. During their trip Lithuanian travelers will stop almost in all major Lithuanian community centers around the globe and present symbolic Lithuanian Present Valdas Adamkus invitation to mark the millennium.

The first written mention of Lithuania is found in a medieval German manuscript, the Quedlinburg Chronicle, on 14 February 1009. The Lithuanian lands were united by Mindaugas in 1236. The official coronation of Mindaugas as King of Lithuania was on July 6, 1253, and the official recognition of Lithuanian statehood as the Kingdom of Lithuania.[1] That day is celebrated as Statehood Day of Lithuania, now.

Odyssey[edit]

Before the start of Odyssey, around 120 Lithuanian yachtsmen participated in sea trainings. Were familiarized with new navigation equipment, security procedures and others drills. As yacht will be far from reaching any help during emergency situation, was appointed specially trained person, who will be responsible for the health of yachtsmen.

On 2008 October 5 the Odyssey officially started, the Lithuanian sailors, under captain, Saulius Pajarskas sailed from Klaipėda port.
