User:LucasMRB/Some rules on Wikipedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Article unfinished, to be extended soon.

Hello. This is a list of some rules on Wikipedia which I find significantly important, likely ordered from most important to least important.

WARNING: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL "GUIDE". This article was made with the intention of helping newbies (me included), for fun. The information included is supposed to be an introduction to the rules, but, & make yourself aware to this, SOME OF THE INFORMATION PRESENTED MAY BE INCORRECT, & SOME MAY BE MISSING. It is YOUR responsibilty to check the rules later, although this USER article is supposed to help. At last, THIS IS NOT A LIST OF ALL OF WIKIPEDIA'S POLICIES, SOLELY SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES.

You read that? I hope so. Either way:

  • Copyrighted text: As defined by the U.S. law, copyright is automatically assumed (without even claiming it) as soon as any content (text or other media) exists phyisically. Works produced by other people can only be used if the author (or the holder of the rights to the work) explicitly states that the work is in the public domain (WP) or that the work is liscensed or otherwise compatible with the CC-BY-SA. This should mean that, if a text does not meet these criteria, copying them is unacceptable. You are allowed to rewrite articles which have copyright issues, which might be either copy-pasting (WP) or close paraphrasing (WP) the copyrighted text.
