1.fm

Hello Lectonar, and thank you for taking the time to help all of us new people that have questions concerning wikipedia! As you know ;-).... I have been trying to create a page for 1.fm for the past couple of weeks, however I just can't seem to get things on target!

I have been part of the Energy Group Radio LLC administration staff for the past 2 years, and 1.fm has made a VERY impressive mark on the Internet Radio industry. 1.fm and Energy Group Radio LLC are entirely owned by Energy Group Networks LLC(EGI Hosting). EGI Hosting not only host its own radio network, it host THOUSANDS of other Internet radio stations around the world! All of the 1.fm stations are being broadcasted on the i-Tunes radio tuner, and Windows Media Guide radio tuner that is located on mostly every system that is running Microsoft Windows operating system. 1.fm has added 3 new channels in the last month bringing its total station count to 29. With more than 30,000 concurrent listeners everyday, 1.5+ Million unique listeners a month and over 10 million tune-ins a month, I feel that 1.fm is VERY worthy of a wikipedia page. Only thing is I'm not anywhere near an english major! I want to provide enough credible information for one to expand our wiki page!

Also, last week I added 1.fm to the list of Web-Only stations that broadcast on the Internet and 1.fm was removed :-(

Lectonar, I am coming to you for your help in creating a Wikipedia page, as getting on to Wikipedia means alot to Energy Group Radio & Energy Group Networks LLC.

Hello,

I do not understand why you deleted my Channone entry, I've read the inclusion policy and Channone won an AVN award and featured in both Top Adult Magazines and worked for Top Adult film companies. She has had a distinguished career in Adult Entertainment and won dance competitions also. Please can you explain the problem. Channone is one of the top Adult Stars of the 90's in both France and the USA. I spent many hours completing that article.

Hi!

I noticed that you translate (actually, I randomly checked user contributions from members on the translator list and you were the first one active in the past year) and was wondering if you can take a look at this.

Basically, much of the info is from the German WP, and the combination computer and human-with-little-German-knowledge translation is probably awful.

By the way, you sure do dabble in many languages!

Lectonar, dunno if you've looked at the latest comments on Talk:Vossstrasse (sic), but User:Pmanderson has repeated his charge that all those who disgree with him are "nationalists" (which, in the case of articles about Germany, presumably means "Nazi"). This comes after he opened a WP:ANI that referred to me, but without telling me he had done so. (By the time I found out about this it had been archived, so I had no chance to respond.) I suspect he deserves a block for WP:AGF and WP:NPA (it wouldn't be his first), not to mention WP:DICK, but I'm technically involved (despite not being alerted to the WP:ANI about me). Your removal of protection

Please explain why you removed protection from the Habbo Hotel article. I don't believe that "time" is a valid reason for removal of protection. Just because the amount of vandals and trolls has slowed since the protection was issued, doesn't mean that it justifies for protection to be removed. –sebi 07:30, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

WP:PROT#Unprotection says: "any admin may unprotect any page after a reasonable period has elapsed", but then it goes on to say "particularly if there is no discussion on the talk page". There has been a lot of discussion going on on the talk page recently. –sebi 07:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Article: Ultra Naniwatic MC's

I notice that you deleted my article about the Ultra Naniwatic MC's earlier today. I understand that in the article I did not assert their notability. My belief that they are notable is based simply on the fact that both HMV and Tower Records in Kobe had the album in their recommended sections when I visited last December. I do not know much about the group and all the information on the web is in Japanese which I don't understand, therefore I tagged it as a stub article in the hope that someone else may be able to contribute more to the article. The page you refer to was used as a source/reference, but as far as I can tell, the text on the page was in no way the same as the text at the reference. Okay, so we're both confused. http://www.kunstradio.at/BIOS/frizbio.html is the source bio. You're saying the text you deleted was THAT text, not the stuff that answers.com grabbed from Wikipedia? This is a page I put online a *long* time ago -- I don't remember when, and the page's history has been deleted too. But the text from answers.com does look like something I might have written.  Any idea where this disconnect is? I would like to query the decision to delete the Espicom page on the grounds of 'spamming'. The page was posted in good faith to provide information free from copyright restrictions in the area of business intelligence, similar to the pages for Datamonitor, Economist Intelligence Unit, IMS Health and Informa. hi, I created an article on wiki explaining the "name" of a freeware project online and giving some info about the project itself.
It has been speedy deleted for some reason by a bot.
Why? it is not spam at all and I also wrote the source link back to the where the project come from.

Flex nibs

Hi you deleted this page and someone called Ivansanchez left a rather rude message calling me a spammer.

1. You didn't say what you thought was spamming in the article. I suspect I might have have put links in to the only two nibmeisters in the world who can still make flex nibs, and I remember there was a discussion of the very flex nib pens that can still be bought. ***It is impossible to have a worthwhile discussion of a subject like this with out such references. Fountain pen articles are full of them.***

2. Who did you think I was spamming on behalf of? The one pen I can remember mentioning is a model that is almost impossible to buy outside of Japan - the maker doesn't promote it at all; the other references to vintage pens and one man craftsmen businesses. Which entity do you think was paying for spam to be placed? Why was it giving equal prominence to its rivals?

3. Next, why didn't you delete what you think maybe spam, ***not an entire article***, leaving a discussion to explain your reasoning. Deleting painstakingly written information saying that flex nibs were more common in the 30's than later as "spam" is inane - do you really think that the 1930's marketing council is spamming wikipedia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Umptious (talk • contribs) 14:42, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

If I recall correctly, I left a db-spam template on the article about flex nibs. That was because a very short article, featuring a link to an external site, sets off my spam radar.

- Your radar is not always right.

So, propose speedy deletion because of blatant advertising. Sorry if the db-spam template sounds rude.

- The template is not rude only if used correctly.

About (2): You were putting links to http://www.richardspens.com , a pen manufacturer, in several articles. Read WP:SPAM#How_not_to_be_a_spammer, point 5, last bullet.

- Binder is one of two living people who can make a true flex nib. Of course an article of flex nibs referenced him. So what? He also the best fountain info site on the web - as you would have found if you had bother to check the link. Binders site is probably the only one in the existence explaining nib flex and obliqueness, etc: referencing it in the articles I was writing was inevitable.

- The point you reference is a crude heuristic to be applied with intelligence: it is a blanket excuse for deleting without thinking. Re-read it and think about what it means.

About (3): An article who was created with the "spammy" links, even if it has a couple of sentences of factual information, is a perfect candidate for speedy deletion.

- A link is not spammy if it is reasonably necessary. As said, Binder is one of two living people who can make a true flex nib. Of course an article of flex nibs referenced him. So what?

- The article had rather more than a couple of sentences of information. You could simply have deleted the reference to Binder and left the rest: you were too lazy. Let me refer you to:

"The best way to resolve a dispute is to avoid it in the first place.

Be respectful to others and their points of view. This means primarily: Do not simply revert changes in a dispute. When someone makes an edit you consider biased or inaccurate, improve the edit, rather than reverting it"

And God knows, deleting is much more extreme than reverting. EVERYTHING is lost.

I suggest that you read this and think about it. I'm going to restore the page as I remember it. I also want to know who to contact to arbitrate future disputes with you adn to discuss your behaviour in general. Admin status should not be used as a tool for vandalism or a crutch for people too lazy to edit properly.

I am going to re-write exactly as I remember it. I suggest that you DISCUSS anything that you think needs discussing. Btw - the market for flex nibs is minute: as the article saud (oops! someone deleted it) they're very hard to use. I'd be surprised if Binder makes a couple of thousand dollars a year from making them.

- Lectonar: you complained that my message on the talk page concerning this matter wasn't friendly. Well, remember that I'm a new user and while to add content on quite a difficult subject I had found my work deleted without discussion and a very abrupt message left for me accusing me of spamming. By comparison, my reply was very restrained. I think you really DO need to adhere more to the wiki policy of discussion - and quite possibly what I now know to be the standard wiki spam message needs re-writing. Hi you deleted the above article as an A7. However, a claim to have videos on MTV, even a false claim, is a claim to notability, which is all an article needs to avoid CSD A7. I agree that this article would not survive AfD, which is why I have not and will not start a DRV. I also thought that the article should be deleted, which is why I placed a PROD tag on it. I feel fairly strongly that have plausible, but probably false, claims of notability should be handled this way. Dsmdgold 03:28, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

It's interesting, but I switch a lot of articles to PROD, and they are much more likely to have the PROD tag removed by someone who thinks they shold be speedied (as happened in this case), or by an admin patrolling the PROD list who speedies it, than they are to be removed by someone that thinks that the article should be kept. I notice you un-protected Emily Dickinson with an edit comment of "time...". Can you explain why? The article seems like a good candidate for indefinite semi-protection as "Biographies subject to vandalism and/or POV-pushing that are not widely watchlisted" -- as I said when requesting semi-protection for it, it is subect to frequent vandalism by schoolchildren. -- Rbellin|Talk 16:34, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
