Hi Lectonar,

Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Regards, JoanneB 14:49, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi Lectonar,

I am now an administrator and would like to thank you for your support on my RfA. I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. Thank you for your support[edit]

Hi, Lectonar. I want to thank you very much for your support for my RfA. Go raibh maith agat. (Yes, I've looked at your Babel template!) I hope that I'll live up to your expectations, and do please let me know if you ever have a problem with any action of mine as an admin (or even as an editor). Thanks again. Featured article for December 25th[edit]

I noticed you have listed yourself in Category:Atheist Wikipedians. That said, you will probably be interested in my suggested featured article for December 25th: Omnipotence paradox. The other suggestion being supported by others for that date is Christmas, although Raul654 has historically been against featuring articles on the same day as their anniversary/holiday. — BRIAN0918 • 2005-11-28 08:24

Your message[edit]

ah thank you for pointing that out to me, I shall have a look (not that i'm very good with translations) kind regards Gryffindor 13:29, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

uhm..... nein. I'm not very good with translating, ich fische garnichts [1]... Gryffindor 13:46, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Gryffindor 13:57, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Transclusion[edit]

I could have used that about 30 mins ago. Does it work for all templates besides test? I know it's used on some of the others but I didn't really know why. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:47, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

The 30 mins was a reference to this. It seems to work with {{test5}}. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:57, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

substing[edit]

I just tried it with my user page at my sandbox and it worked just fine, images and all. As I say the only reason it wouldn't work sometimes is that sometimes templates are designed specifically to be displayed {{in these things}}: see User:Francs2000/Babel and compare it to how it displays on my user page as an example. -- Francs2000 14:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Speaking of which, vandalism, when I asked numerous times to cease that behaviour, is utterly unacceptable. Were I an admin, that comment alone would have earned anon 82.44.178.12 a one week block. What's it going to take to get the message across that his behaviour is unacceptable and wrong? Isn't it blindingly obvious at this point that he's simply not going to desist his destructive acts of vandalism..? Can he not be blocked for such misuse of wikipedia...? He's certainly not contributing anything constructive... See his "contributions".-MegamanZero 20:55 1,December 2005 (UTC)
  • Concerning your query:

I was just on RC-Patrol when I noticed the vandalism on the pertaining userpage; if you have a look at Wikipedia:blocking policy, at least according to my understanding, not much would earn a longer block at the first time; but there's admins and there's admins, and I'm not one of the harsh ones (Have a look at my userpage, perhaps you'll understand). But I'll keep an eye open now on him...Btw, the vandlism came not only from one anon account. Cheers. Lectonar 08:04, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, I agree being harsh isn't a good "policy" as an admin, but he's done nothing but target and vandalize The Wookieepedian's page. On top of that ,he has not even made any helpful contributions. Also, yeah, he's been using sockpuppets in his vandalizing. -MegamanZero 9:11 1,December 2005 (UTC)
  • Thanks. I knew were getting tired of reverting Wookie's userpage as much as the rest of us. =)-MegamanaZero 9:38 1,Decmeber 2005 (UTC)
He's still going. I've tagged his talk page with BlatantVandal and updated Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress. But I suspect I know who is doing it, and I doubt he'll stop. Regards, Ben Aveling 21:39, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

User:S1066[edit]

No problem on that; I was just looking at the new user log, trying to get an idea as how much faster users are being created (it's about twice as fast as before the changeover, based on preliminary investigations) and noticed a bluelink for a user page, is all. Kelly Martin (talk) 14:35, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

New user creation rate[edit]

I did some quick looks at the new user log this morning:

  • november 19th (50000 users ago) it was 500 users in 7 hours 0 minutes
  • november 23rd (40000 users ago) it was 500 users in 5 hours 21 minutes
  • november 27th (30000 users ago) it was 500 users in 6 hours 43 minutes
  • november 30th (20000 users ago) it was 500 users in 3 hours 38 minutes
  • december 3rd/4th (10000 users ago) it was 500 users in 4 hours 54 minutes
  • current (0 users ago) it was 500 users in 2 hours 4 minutes

So the new user rate has more than doubled since the changeover. I need to get access to the database itself to do a full analysis (new users per day/per hour), but the toolserver is down at the moment. Kelly Martin (talk) 15:10, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

History of Science Fiction rewrite[edit]

Since you seem to have an interest in science fiction... I've been working on a rewrite of the History of science fiction article, and I just posted my rewrite at History of science fiction/rewrite. Please comment on the talk page about whether you think my rewrite should replace the current article. Ferret-aaron 15:45, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I appreciate the wikithanks. :-) Could you please comment on the rewrite? Ferret-aaron 02:49, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for commenting. I'd love it if you'd add something about Lem and other Eastern European writers. I've barely read any Lem and I don't know where to fit it into the chronology. I am aware that the article is currently very, very Anglocentric, and this should be remedied. I think I'm going to wait another day and then put the rewrite in as the main article. I'll also put together a To-Do list and put it on the talk page. Ferret-aaron 02:04, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

German Wikipedia and user Berlin-Attorney[edit]

Hello there

Just recently I have been chucked out of the german Wikipedia because some people are starting to earn money wit holocaust. Therefore they invite their students and tell them how discusting the bad Neo Nazis are. This History for a German is a mine field but I am willing to explode on it because i am completely fed up with what is happening. In some kind of Systemic bias they manipulate the wikipedia users that there are 10000. of Neo Nazis in the German Wikipedia. Our past is dark enough but to make it even more dark is a very serious think without any moral at all because there is the indirect advertisment thought behind all these acting. It is also strange that some people because they met other wikipedians in pub can promote to Administrators in 5 month. For example the above mentioned Solictor and Lawyer. I am completely against Neo Nazis but because of massiv criticisement and to many google hits on my Name in the www they found a reason to chuck me out. I knew that what I have done was a dangerous ridgewalk and I have lost it. They stick to tight together. I underestimated them now I pay the price for it. Hopefully I am able to start here brand new without causing any troble. It seems to start good because for example at the article phenol nobody was bothered and asking about any legitimation to change something. --Ekkenekepen 08:00, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Let us try an experiment. Until further notice, the voting system will be open, using the method described in the Guidelines. This will make us understand how reliable the current system is and whether the project has a real possibility to expand into hundrends of users or not.

All users are encounaged to display the {{BestUserPage}} banner on their User Page.

All members all encouraged to display the {{BUP}} banner in their User Page, and also notify that the project has started.

We will refer to the votes for this first session as "March 2006" in the archive.

Wikiberliner[edit]

You're back! I thought you had deleted your user page and left in a huff. Anyway, no, I've still never been to a meeting of Wikipedians -- I've never even met another Wikipedian in real life. I know there are some other Berliners at en: (User:ProhibitOnions and User:Ravn spring to mind). But I am kinda busy, I don't know if I can promise I'd show up if there were a get-together for English-speaking Wikipedians in Berlin. Angr/talk 17:20, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I don't know if I've ment anyone, either (as it's anonymous) but I did discover coincidentally that someone who bought something from me on eBay is a Wikipedian. Not quite the same thing, though. Regards, ProhibitOnions 20:19, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of Berlin meeting page[edit]

Hi Lectonar,

The reason I nominated that page for deletion (I did not delete it myself - I'm not an admin) is because as I was looking over the newly created it simply looked like vandalism to me. You have to admit that it didn't look like a contribution worth keeping. If you want to make it a subpage of your user page you have to have the title of the page look like this User:Lectonar/PAGENAME.

Berlin wiki meeting[edit]

Hello, I have been mulling over this for some time (actually at least a year), and would like to propose a meeting of the Berlin-residing Users of the english wiki. Wolud you be interested at all, or do you think this a bad idea ? Thoughts are welcome. Cheers. Lectonar 20:02, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

I would not mind :-) and be interested to come if I am in Berlin which does not happen too often currently. I am working abroad. Just find more people interested, and keep me informed. The German community has a pretty meeting place, see de:Wikipedia:Berlin, maybe this is an option for us, too? As I am quite occupied at the moment, I may not look at my talk page here too often. You might get an earlier response at my talk page at ksh:User:Purodha, or use the e-mail function there. Thank you for asking! -- Purodha Blissenbach 19:12, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Thx for showing interest, but we have proceeded a little bit (see here; please add your ideas :)) Lectonar 15:27, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
and PS: I don't like the way the German wiki is run, and would be sure to run into trouble, so I've no intention of visiting one of their meetings again (I've been to one some 1 1/2 years ago, near Jannowitzbrücke). Lectonar 15:29, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
I was not suggesting to join a German Wikipedia meeting. On the contrary, I'd suggest to only use the place - a spacious public place as I read, but have never been there - if there is not a German Wikipedian assembly at the same time ;-) Btw. since I am active in several language Wikipedias, I am interested in learning what other peoples criticisms are of the way the German one is run, notabene sharing my point of view, too, if someone cares. -- Purodha Blissenbach 13:03, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
I should read comments before replying to them...but as another location seems to be fixed, this point is moot anyway...and am I right to construe you aren't exactly happy with the way the German-wiki is run? Lectonar 12:01, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Ok :-) yes, and yes. -- Purodha Blissenbach 12:00, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm. Interesting, did you have a look at Jimbos talk-page lately? Anyway, I'd very much like to talk about it...if you can't make it to the meeting, please "e-mail this user function" (in en-wiki). I tried to send you one, but you don't seem to have enabled it. Lectonar 16:27, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for making me aware - there was a typo in my e-mail address here, which is now corrected. (Confirmation pending) No, I wasn't even aware that he has one :-) I briefly looked over it and over his lengthy talk page. Is there anything particular that I should read? If I don't make to the meeting, I put myself in the waiting line for the next one ;-) I happen to be in Berlin every now and then. If you like, I let you know when. No dates fixed at this point in time, though. -- Purodha Blissenbach 10:11, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Lectonar,

You seem to have been around for a while, so I'm fairly confident you know about wikipedias WP:3RR. You seem to have technically exceeded the max three reverts on the Physical exercise article.
