Jimmy Alvarez is a media and business professional serving the public interest for over two decades. Jimmy currently writes reviews of new music releases and concert tours for “Alternative” genre bands. Those reviews are written for internet publication SLAM Scene Magazine, based in Orange County, California.

More notably in 2007, Jimmy published his first work. It is a professional work entitled “Real Estate Lending in the New Millennium”. It is a encyclopedia type work drafted to help guide the layman navigate the waters of real estate. That is, from orgination through the complex secondary marketing process. Jimmy wrote this book while tenured at Lehman Brothers Bank of New York. While at LBB, Jimmy served as Vice President of Operations at one of their Mortgage subsidiaries in the Capital Markets Division. The book is published through Red Lead Press, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jimmy is also involved in today’s legislative process. He is a lender advocate challenging issues on a state and national platform. Jimmy is currently working on his second book, this work chronicles his days in the Los Angeles Radio Market in the late 80’s through mid 90’s.

Jimmy is also a broadcast media veteran. His first venture into music found him as a club DJ in the Los Angeles music scene in the early 80’s. Those were his formative years where he gravitated to the R&B / Soul sound of the era. His early work in broadcasting started in AM radio in the mid 80’s. This is where he simply watched the news feeds at KFRN [1280 AM], based in Long Beach, California. The momentum continued, and in 1988 he transitioned to southern California's iconic rock station, or the "New Wave" genre at radio station KROQ [106.7FM] based in Los Angeles aka "The World Famous KROQ", or as it was known back then “The ROQ of the 80’s”. KROQ was owned by Infinity Broadcasting back then [KROQ is now an Alternative Music format station which is part of CBS Radio]. Jimmy began his tenure at KROQ as a segment producer, he then moved on to Public Affairs programming where he worked along side Scott Mason [who is now the Director of Engineering at CBS Radio West Coast] and Boyd Britton [KROQ Morning Show and News Director]. Jimmy acquired his FCC license in 1989, he then moved on to live on-air broadcasting. Jimmy also worked on “Reggae Revolution” with “Native Wayne” [Jobson] and “All Night Radio” with “The Swedish Egil.”

While at KROQ Jimmy worked along side such notable joqs as syndicated dj "Jed the Fish" [Gould]{Out of Order of Westwood One}, Kevin & Bean [Mornings], Doug the Slug (Roberts), Jim "Poorman" Trenton, “The Swedish Egil” [Egil Aalvik], April Whitney (Ape), Rodney "On the ROQ" [Bingenheimer], Richard Blade, "Native Wayne" [Jobson], Spacin’ Scott Mason, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Katy Manor, Boyd "Doc on the Roq" [Britton], Gia DeSantis [Request Video], and Tami Heidi. Jimmy also worked along side a few Mtv VJ's such as Mark Goodman, Chris Hardwick, "Kennedy" [Montgomery], JJ Jackson and in programming MTV Vice Presidents Andy Schoun, Lewis Largent and Zeke Piestrup formerly of VH-1.

In 1991 Jimmy assisted Egil in producing shows in the early days of MARS FM - KDLD [103.1FM] based in Santa Monica, California. Jimmy worked with the Los Angeles radio icon “Freddy Snakeskin” [Program Director]. Jimmy also took part in the birth of Egil’s pride and joy, GROOVE RADIO. This internet-based dance program was a pioneer of the airwaves in the 90’s. Whereas it brought the “trance” sound to the Los Angeles market.

Jimmy is currently the host of an internet-based alternative music radio program. The show airs every Saturday at noon Pacific time on Media [89.5FM] KTSTFM.com through "The American Radio Network" [ARN]. ARN is based in Hollywood, California, and the broadcast originates from their studios in Anaheim, California. The program is entitled TNN's Alternative Lunch. Jimmy where’s the hat of air personality and Program Director. The show airs music from today's alternative charts, and music from back in the day of Punk and era genre's dubbed New Wave, and New Romantic as well as the evolution of Grunge. Not to forget the eventual transition to Modern Rock. Also programmed are Jimmy’s roots and love of Reggae, Dance Hall and Mod-SKA.

TNN's Alternative Lunch also has a talk portion, which is co-hosted by Lisa Lately. Lisa graced the airways previously at "PLANET RADIO" [107.3 FM] based in Jacksonville, Florida. This segment covers topics from local to national as well as international news events. Lisa fields questions from their listeners as well as covering all entertainment news and editorials. Also on the program is Baron T. [Tanelle]. Baron covers politics and current news events.
