Bruce Young has been Head of Radio Drama at BBC Scotland since February 2010. Previously he was editor of radio drama at BBC Scotland.[1][2]

Cardamom was nominated for the Race in the Media Award for best drama in 2001.[3]

Plantation owner, Sir John Wedderburn, returns to Perthshire from the West Indies, bringing with him an African slave, Joseph Knight. Wedderburn educates Knight and makes him a domestic servant. But when Knight runs away his escape and recapture help to pave the way for the abolition of slavery in Britain.

This play is based on real historical events.
