Mad Dog Garage is an interactive art gallery established by David Butts in downtown Oregon across from the Vestas building.[1] Before discovering his talent for "kinematic interactive art", David Butts built a career as a Portland architect.[2] He began producing art in his garage in 1993 and eventually outgrew the space and took up shop in a vacant radiator shop in Northwest Portland in 2004.[3]

Mad Dog Garage and its founder gained notoriety in 2012 when The Oregonian newspaper published a feature article on David Butts and his "engineered" art in Feb 2012. Later that same year The Willamette Week name Mad Dog Garage one of 2012's top ten sights to see in Portland designation.[4]

On the sidewalks of Northwest Portland, pedestrians can interact with David Butts' robotic bust by waving their hands across the non-contact sensors in the window glass.
