Naming

Grumpyyoungman01 has also gone by other, often less socially acceptable names, such as Nazipartyatmyhouse, which he first used for griefing on Nation States, he then went on to use this handle benignly on; Terra Politicus, that annoying little anime game with pink links (as npamh) and on some other 2 dimensional flying around in outer space game. After Nazipartyatmyhouse had ceased being a regular player of Hostile Space, his handle was the subject of a complaint relating to anti-semitism. Needless to say, this caused Grumpyyoungman01 some distress.

He has also gone by other internet names such as The Man and The Man, The Prime Man, The Prime Manister, The Prime Minister, The PM - an allusion to his preoccupation with Australian Politics.

History of user page

Overview

It all started back in '56, my folks and I were part of a loong wagon train, moving west. While not exactly part of the train, you might say that we were bring up the rear, when suddenly, from out of the west came the en-tiire Siuox nation! And let me tell you baby, they was in for business.

Redlinks

The beginnings of man01's user page began like most editors of wikipedia, that is a newbie trying to look professional by removing all of those evil redlinks which make you at best look unprofessional and at worst a vandal. His attempt at this was immediately succesful when he added himself to the earth-shattering category of Category:Wikipedians on 28 January 2006. On that same day he quickly followed up with a category proclaiming himself to be an Australian and a Victorian Wikipedian. After a brief flirtation with Wikipedia:WikiProject Blogging he soon learned the error of his ways and just how much the established WP community hate blogs.

Shortly after on March 10, man01 joined a WikiProject of his own devoted to the sorting, formatting, citing, siting and culling of alumni lists on the pages of Australian high schools, he was most noticeably active on the alumni list of North Sydney Boys High School, where at times it appeared on the edit history that he was the sole contributor. 16 days later his user page was vandalised by an ip address who added mildly amusing content to the page for the first time and made it worthwhile visiting.

Alas this state of merriment did not last long when another user, coblin, reverted the vandal, presumably chasing its edit history after it vandalised his own user page. Here is the text as modified by the vandal:

This user is a member of the WikiProjects 'Attention to detail' (obsesssive compulsive nit-picking perfectionists) and 'The systematic alphabetical ordering of all lists where appropriate'. Do you have an alumni list which is out of control? Then leave a message on my talk page and tell me what you're wearing.

Golden age

Grumpyyoungman01's user page was not modified again for exactly two months, after this time he decided that he wanted to be ethnically classified solely as an Australian, and not as a Victorian Wikipedian. It is rumoured that this was on the grounds that Grumpyyoungman01 believes in the Abandonment of the Australian States. He then experimented heavily with the user categorisation system until it has come to rest today when Grumpy decided that the only categories relevant to other Wikipedians were his nationality and interest in English spelling reform.

From 8 June 2006 he did the wanky thing and put up a list of his main contributions to Wikipedia. Not quite satisfied with that move, he added that he has a blog and gave his blogspot URL, but so as to pretend that he wasn't a wanker, he used the well known trick of loudly announcing that he was a wanker with the following text:

"I am a wanker, here is my wank". But this fooled nobody.

Grumpy then went minimalist and deleted all of that crap.
