The neighborhood of Collegetown is an unincorporated area near Ithaca, NY. The area's name reflects the high population of resident college students that attend nearby Cornell University and Ithaca College. Though the city of Ithaca itself is considered a college town,[1] the Collegetown area is regarded as a distinct neighborhood by the local community.[2] Other signs that the community at large accepts this informal title include references to the name by Cornell, Ithaca College, and the TCAT mass transit system.[3][4][5][6]

Certain real estate organisations also make a distinction between Collegetown proper and Lower Collegetown,[7][8] though this distinction is not widely made in other circles.
