Congratulations to you, sir, on another fine article expansion! — Kralizec! (talk) 05:16, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Just noticed that you got this article; thanks for nice work on western Ohio :-) I've been there several times, but without exception it's to get pictures such as this one nearby; the only one I've gotten of the lake is this photo of a lighthouse. Nyttend (talk) 12:49, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Deletion[edit]

Glad to help. Only admins and bureaucrats can delete stuff on Wikipedia as far as I know. The ability to delete just the text and leave the IP address and the edit summary is new (came in with the recent changes). Did you get my emails? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:48, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

The panorama emails were what I meant, thanks - looks good in the article. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:11, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Falling Waters State Park was 405 B (64 words) "readable prose size" before you started expansion, so 5x expansion would be 2025 B. It is now 2895 B (482 words) "readable prose size", so you've made it as I understand it. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:52, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
How about DYK ... that remnants of a gristmill, distillery and oil well have been found at Falling Waters State Park, which also has the highest waterfall in Florida? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:07, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
You are very welcome, good luck with the DYK nom. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:32, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Falling Waters State Park[edit]

Very nice job expanding the article. Thanks! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 01:29, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Ditto. It's approved for DYK, but as mentioned here, I can't access one of the hook refs. Maybe it's just my computer, but if not, it might be a good idea to swap links. (in case readers want to see the news article) Cheers. APK whisper in my ear 01:11, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Clemuel Ricketts Mansion review[edit]

I got Tomasak's 2008 biography of Colonel R. Bruce Ricketts and as a result have added about 4 kB of prose to the Clemuel Ricketts Mansion article - dif. I am asking the FAC and PR reviewers to please take a second look at the Clemuel Ricketts Mansion article and make sure it still reads smoothly and clearly. If you find problems, please raise them on the article's talk page. Thanks in advance, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:28, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Congrats[edit]

Congratulations on the blizzard of DYKs. Goodness! Finetooth (talk) 00:54, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Your goal of getting one in each state is a great idea. I have an instant suggestion for a park in Oregon, but it might be a toughie. A few days ago, I discovered a state park in Oregon that appears on maps but doesn't seem to appear in the state's official list of parks. I redlinked this park in Course of the Willamette River in the "Eugene–Springfield to Albany" section. The park in question is Bower Rock State Park, near Albany. Here it is on a Google map as Bowers Rocks State Park, so I might not have the name quite right (Bower or Bowers, Rock or Rocks). I don't know if you can find enough RS material, though. Another thought: the List of Oregon state parks has one red link, Arizona Beach State Recreation Site. I doubt that the list is complete, so I might be able to make another suggestion if neither of these pan out. Finetooth (talk) 01:28, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Myrtle and Mussel creeks[edit]

Not sure where these are. Which park? I think I might have missed a message somewhere along the line. Finetooth (talk) 01:45, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

I didn't look very hard. Now I see the missing message. I'm afraid I was completely absorbed in Willamette River discharge statistics. I will be glad to see what I can do with the two creeks tomorrow (Saturday). Nice job on putting together an Oregon park article from scratch. You are certainly fast. I will try to get a photo for the geobox if I get down that way and nobody beats me to it. Finetooth (talk) 04:24, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Done. Really stubby. Myrtle Creek (Curry County, Oregon), the shorter of the two, doesn't even have a GNIS listing, as far as I can tell. I used the long article names with qualifiers because Oregon has other streams with the same names and even a small city named Myrtle Creek, Oregon, which has nothing to do with this creek. I will add these two creeks as well as the park to my list of "photos needed"; no telling when I will get down there. It's quite a ways from here to there, so I will try to get a bunch of photos when I get the chance. Finetooth (talk) 19:50, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Curry County, OR[edit]

The Chetco (tribe) article was from a FAC review - it used to be that Chetco was a redirect to the Tolowa tribe article, but they are different so I wrote a start class article. I always Arizona didn't have any Pacific beaches ;-) Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:12, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

I suspect that Arizona Beach was the invention of the property owner who sold the land to the state in 2008. I further suspect that the owner had a fondness for a country-and-western song about a non-existent beach in Arizona. This is pure speculation, and I've found no source, reliable or otherwise, for this notion. The park is so new that my Oregon parks book and my Oregon place-names book say nothing about it. That is quite a pipeline you've got going there - congratulations and keep up the good work. Do you think it would be helpful to upload the larger original of the spillway picture here or on Flickr? I do not think I ever sent a message to Nicholad T, but I could send him a thank you Flickr mail. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:22, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to be unclear - I meant a larger version of the same image. It is 500 pixels wide, and I assumed the original was probably at least 4x as wide in pixels. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:43, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, I just uploaded the larger version on Commons and saw there that a duplicate file existed, then saw your message here. I can nominate the duplicate for speedy deletion on Commons (as a duplicate) Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:51, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the best wishes Susanne. Thanks to Dincher for adding the Cherry Springs TFA date to my user page. I have some more stuff to add to Bruce, up to 40 kB now. Glad it is looking good, think 44 kB is easily within reach. Not sure about 55. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:57, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Fort Defiance State Park[edit]

RlevseTalk 00:02, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Congrats on another one of your, many, DYKs! I note you do not have one from Michigan yet. I wonder if you might consider the Pinckney State Recreation Area (when I lived in Detroit, that is where we'd go to camp and fish); another place we'd often go was the Lake Erie Metropark. Both are stubs that could be expanded. Niagara Don't give up the ship 00:40, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I was able to a decent source that is on Google Books[1]. Also found a few news articles through LexisNexis (one of which mentions the existence of a yurt the park that can be rented by campers and another that tells of how Hell is located in park [possible DYK hooks?]), I can download and email them if you like. Niagara Don't give up the ship 02:23, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I've been to Hell (at least in Michigan) - much nicer than I would have expected ;-) Congratulations on your latest DYK! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:30, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I have neither email addresses. I don't know if this would work, but I note that the sender's email address is included in the "From" line; so, technically, if you sent a message I could just "RE" it back with the files. Ruhrfisch is welcome to be the sender as well, if he's interested in reading them, and forward them on. Niagara Don't give up the ship 02:47, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

York Springs, Pennsylvania[edit]

Thanks for the heads up - I deleted the potentially defamatory / libelous material. Will warn the editor too. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:30, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

I am glad to help out with these - just have been busy in real life and not online as much. If something is urgent, there is always WP:AIV, but I am also glad to do it. If I did not want to be an admin, I could just ask to have the privelege removed. I know I am not the world's most active admin, but I like to help out some - the user box has a link to an essay by Ben MacDui I like. Off to work on the effects of Floyd on RGSP (no, not that Floyd). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:52, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Bruce and RGSP[edit]

Ricketts Glen State Park is 10 kB and Bruce is now 42 kB, so we are at 4.2-fold expansion. I am done with History and Geology, and have added pictures (I want to get one of the Lake Leigh dam with the breach in it, for now I have the image of the dry Lake Leigh bed in as a place holder). I also added the image map, but it does not yet have the right coordinates as links for the labels.

I figure expanding the lead will add 2 to 3 kB and guess that I may be able to add 2 or 3 more kB in the remaining sections, which would get us to 4.6 to 4.8 fold expansion, which I assume will be enough for DYK. I am guessing I can do the merge of Bruce with the RGSP article tomorrow (Friday) to start the DYK clock, and that it would also be able to be nominated for peer review the same day (though the refs need some work and I think it is overlinked).

What do you think of the pictures? How about the big map placement? Sorry this has taken so long, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:15, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the Environmental education and other info - it is now up to 43 kB. I can add the ghost town tours of Ricketts from the park there and have some more to add to Wildlife. I am OK with waiting on the merge - are you still OK with the proposed as a national park hook? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:13, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking that the list of game animals in the Hunting section might be useful for the Wildlife section - also there is the website on the plant life in the park (linked on Bruce's talk page). Also need to check the usual sources (Audubon etc.) Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:41, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
I should have more time tomorrow to work on it too - doing some reviewing now. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:33, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
The park has a new brochure - includes photos of almost all of the named waterfalls (not Adams or the 2 only the book names). Wonmder if our article influenced this? Anyway, it is here in case you've not seen it - the blank spaces are the maps. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:31, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Turns out the park is in an Important Mammal Area - see here. Trying to see if I can more detailed information on this, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:16, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

(out) Thanks, it looks good, but agree that it is a bit general. There is some more specific info on deer in the Lake Ganoga article. I will add some links on the talk page, then will upload some new pix. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:18, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks - I tried a 360 degree panorama and need to close a bunch of web browser windows as I keep running out of memory. Will save the links on the talk page of Bruce, then upload and work here. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:23, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Turns out when I try and do a 360 degree panorama, Autostitch gets confused, so I settled for about 330 degrees (18 of 20 pix, 20th overlaped the first). I deleted the nastiness at Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:53, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
I added three pictures to Bruce, and one to the Air Force station, and a bunch more on Commons. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:15, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
I did a history merge from Bruce to RGSP. It went from 10 kB to 44 kB, so 4.4-fold expansion. I still think the lead needs to be four paragraphs and guess we can get another 2 or 3 kB from that. Do you like the new pictures? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:21, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Glad you like the pictures, old and new. Camano SP is big enough and has been expanded much more than 5x. I will try to add to lead tonight and then nominate. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:32, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
It is a stump they were looking at - I figured including some people gave the office a sense of scale - glad you like it. Have fun with the new one, will be offline for a while. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:38, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

(out) The nom is in, right above Pinckney (Hell). Did not expand the lead yet. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:31, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

I somehow missed your funny comment "Above Hell is certainly better than in it!" until now - thanks for making me smile. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:24, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for adding ice climbing to the lead. Weather is not there either, but am not sure what to say. I mentioned the 4.8 fold expansion on the DYK talk page. See what they say. I need to add book information (Tomasak for example). When do you want to go to PR? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:34, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
I am about to take a break. Do you want to nominate it at PR? I will work on the map calibration when I get back, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:52, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
I had enough time to calibrate the RI map - did not test it though, let me know if there are problems. Thanks for the PR nom, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:07, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Amen to that! The panorama at the bottom has "Waterfall" 24 times as alt text, otherwise I think they are all done. I changed the deer and bear to deer and bear as I think most people would recognize them. Alt text is not longer a FAC requirement, so I am leaving the silly alt in for now and can change it if requested. Going to reply to Tony and Brian (whose map request I totally missed until now) and then work on the refs. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:21, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
I sometimes get in a mood where I can write alt texts pretty quickly (like tonight) but they are a royal pain, and tonight I couldn't avoid format errors to save my skin. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:52, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

(out) I just checked all the photos - none are fair use and all seem to have good licenses (most are from me or other Wikipedia editors). I updated the fawn photo so it had a template. I think we'll be OK. I had thought of adding an image of the Colonel, but was worried that someone would say it was fair use and decorative only. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 23:51, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

I am done with every copyedit and ref and image check I can think of. I will ask Fientooth to take a look at the PR. I am doing a review for Ben MacDui and a map for Brianboulton may ask them to look at the PR too (once I have done the review and map). Anyone else to ask? Oh, when I changed the trails format to bullet point list, it dropped the page size from 49 to 36 kB. Do you want me to bullet it back again? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:49, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
OK, I will only re-bullet list it if the DYK folk want 49 kB vs 46 kB. I will ask Finetooth and think I will ask Michael Devore to do a typo check too. Do you want to ask Niagara? Do you want me to ask the others too (may take a few days for me to do the review and map). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:17, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks - I am working on the review for Ben MacDui - do you want me to ask him too? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:15, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
It is a talk page review of the article - I have not posted it yet. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:24, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
I forgot to say what article it is - sorry. Rachel Chiesley, Lady Grange - I have posted my comments on the talk page. Will ask tomorrow for a review - calling it a night, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:15, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

(out) You OK if I work on MacDui's PR suggestions now? Didn't want an edit conflict. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:51, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Will do - when do you want to take it to FAC? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:27, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I found a Reading Eagle article on Google News that gave the opening day as August 1, 1943, so I added that. I then had to say the official park history says recreational facilities opened in 1944 (so I can see "the park is open" in 1943, but there were no facilities) and tweaked the lead. WOuld you mind looking at the 1944 bits and seeing if they are OK? Also added the Scottish connection per the PR. DO you think it is OK to go to FAC? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 17:59, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
