Luckie & Company is a consumer-driven full-service ad agency with offices in Birmingham, Atlanta and London. Founded in 1953 by Robert "Ace" Luckie Jr., the agency now employs over 130 people serving both national and international clients. In 2011, Luckie acquired Atlanta-based Integrative Logic, a premier business intelligence, digital and analytics company.[1]

Today, Luckie tells data-driven stories across multiple platforms based on three ideas: the art of marketing, the science of data and the power of storytelling.[2]

History[edit]

Luckie & Company was founded in Birmingham in 1953 by Bob "Ace" Luckie Jr., as Robert Luckie & Company. The agency is credited with introducing big-league talent to Alabama in the areas of print advertising, television commercials, marketing strategy, and creative design.[3]

In 2007 the agency rebranded itself under the message "Rethink Everything" to illustrate its capacity to remain a leader in the modern media age.[4]

1953-1963[edit]

Robert E. Luckie & Co. opened its doors in 1953. Three years later, founder Robert E. “Ace” Luckie Jr. moved his headquarters from downtown Birmingham to Office Park, then one of only two suburban office parks in America.

1964-1982[edit]

With the addition of partner John Forney, the agency was renamed Luckie & Forney in 1964. Luckie moved into a larger space at Office Park, won the $1 million South Central Bell account in 1971 and won a Clio Award at Cannes for its work with Alabama Highway & Traffic Safety.[citation needed]

1983-1994[edit]

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 1983, Luckie & Forney Adweek named the shop one of the Southeast’s 15 Hottest Agencies in 1984[citation needed] and the agency moved into the current Luckie Building in 1986. Merging with an Atlanta agency gave birth to Tucker Wayne/Luckie in 1988.

1995-2007[edit]

When BellSouth reshuffled its agency relationships, Luckie chose to de-merge from Tucker Wayne in 1995 and close its Atlanta office. Reopening as Luckie & Co. in 1996, the shop had 28 employees. Robert E. Luckie Jr. died in 2007 at age 89.

2007 - 2011[edit]

Led since the 1990s by the founder’s sons, Board Chairman Robert E. Luckie III and CEO Tom Luckie, the agency has most recently become known for its digital innovation and award-winning integrated marketing campaigns. With the acquisition of Atlanta-based Integrative Logic, in 2011, Luckie continued to grow and evolve.

2012 – PRESENT[edit]

In 2012, Board Chairman Robert E. Luckie III retired from Luckie and today, the agency is run by his brother, CEO Tom Luckie.
