Shin Dong Yup was born in Seoul, South Korea on February 17, 1971. He attended the Seoul University of Arts and studied theater.

Controversy

Shin Dong had been arrested once for the use of marijuana.

In 2009, he was accused of fraud by De Chocolate E&TF, his management company. It is said that he allegedly forged his contract with the company in favor of himself. Shin was to receive approximately $1 million from signing an exclusive contract with De Chocolate, however he forged the contract and changed the amount to $2 million.
