Hi, I'm August.

My interest and educational background (that I want to admit to) is in biology; but, other than that, I can be interested in a little bit of everything. I try to learn about bio-informatics whenever I remember to do so.

I am interested in hackerspaces and, in particular, the community and democratization of technology aspect that they ideally represent when they embrace open source (software/hardware|) culture. Specifically I have a particular interest in the relevance of these models to molecular biology and biotechnology applications. Additionally, I have an interest in technology applications (including biotechnology applications) in low resource environments.

I also have a long standing interest in skepticism and pseudoscience.

The first principle is that you must not fool yourself—and you are the easiest person to fool.
