Welcome!

Cometstyles (talk · contribs), please be sure to complete the general assignments above to the best of your ability. Slow and steady is good, since there's no way to complete them all overnight.  :-)

Hi there Cometstyles. JodyB here. I'm one of the coaches (and students) here at VC. I'll await your answers to the questions below. In the meantime, know that I am at your service. My email is enabled and I'll be watching this page. Drop by and leave me a message at my page if you like. From what I have seen you have a fine future here. Good luck! Let the grilling begin![edit]

One tradition we have here is to grill the hell out of participants with questions. For some weird reason, most of them seem to like it. So here' goes...

At the risk of this stinging a little, let's go over your recent RfA...

You seem to have a tendency to argue. This is contrary to our mission here, as we focus on collaboration and peaceful dispute resolution, in an effort to reach consensus. Argumentation breeds bad will instead of good will. My first question is: how does argumentation differ from consensus building?

My second question is: how is argumentation disruptive to Wikipedia?

Why do you want to become an admin?

What's your rush?

What's wrong with remaining an editor and improving as far as you can as that? (There's more work to be done on Wikipedia than any single person could possibly do in a lifetime).

Note that most of the skills we teach here are general in nature, which any Wikipedian can make use of. Admins are generally chosen for their trustworthiness (evident in the way they apply these skills), and their skill-level. You don't mind if we get back to basics, do you?

What's your favorite subject? (Mathematics, Britney Spears, History, Star Wars, Telecommunications, etc.)

I look forward to your replies. The Transhumanist    21:53, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Assignments for Cometstyles[edit]

Make a list on one of your user pages, of all of the objections raised in your RfA, and turn them into tasks designed to solve the problems the objectors were concerned about. The Transhumanist    21:53, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Virtual Classes[edit]

Hey TTH...Sorry to disappoint you but I'm dropping out off your Virtual classes. I will be retiring from Wikipedia in late October and till then I've decided to do a bit less of vandal fighting and help out with my Wiki Project which I had been kind of ignoring as of lately. After my Last RfA, I have decided never to go through it again and simply retire and concentrate on other hobbies of mine.. (not that many BTW). I hope you understand..Cheers ..--Cometstyles 19:14, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, good luck in all your endeavors. It was nice to get to know you. If you get active again, please drop me a line. The Transhumanist    19:22, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
