So, I was going through Wiki pages the other day looking at all the behind the scenes cogs that turn in Wikiland. I realised that it is indeed a World of it's own. Trails, tribulations, sadness, sorrow, anger and love are passed to and fro behind the articles. Most people only 'see' an article. They don't 'see' who it was written by, edited by, reverted, changed and vandalised by in the process. And it's an ongoing process that can change from one hour to the next. I want to be part of Wikiland. Today, I arrived at Wikland Station and I'm staying for good. "This time next year, we'll be millionaires!" (or maybe even an Admin.......) Why I don't wish to get involved with Wikipedia anymore

I had high hopes for my time here. I even had thoughts of becoming an admin or wotnot in the future. I've changed my mind. Quickly. I know I won't be missed, I dare say that nobody will even read this blurb. But here it is. The more I look into Wikpedia, the more it comes across to me as a unique microcosm of the world that it intends to articulate. I've watched from the sidelines and seen the arguments, the foul degenerate language amongst some of the editors. I dare say it, but I can imagine that people have committed suicide over some of the 'debates' on here (and I'm not being facetious). It's damn nitty, it's damn gritty, and it's too much for me, for these reasons:

• I have enough crap going on in my life as it is. Why would I want to add to that, when I could avoid it?
• I know some people hold their opinions dear to their hearts, but they fail to realise that not everybody wants to/has to agree with said opinions. In the UK, we now have laws that will open a can of whoop ass on anybody that doesn't agree with the "Status Quo". Sod that.
• As much as Wikipedia wants to be unbiased, neutral etc etc. Remember; THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE COUNTRY.

So, I need to sort my real life out instead of getting lost in the pseudopopulation of Wikipedians and taking my anger out on faceless people. And vice-versa. I love you, I'll miss you. Don't wait up for me anymore. xxxxx BenBrownBoy (Aye?) 20:55, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Now, more to the point, who am I?

I'm a 40 something bloke from the UK. I was orginally born in London but have lived in West Yorkshire for donkeys....... What am I good at? (Or what do I think I'm good at?)

• People. I'm a 'People Person'. I am good at Conflict Resolution, I've used this skill in much of my employment history.
• Grammer. I'm no Dickens, but I like to think my use of English Grammer is above par. I am extremely literate and I know how to write a good complaint letter or two.
• Being polite Even if I don't like you, I'll still be amicable.
• Reads between the lines I like to think outside the box.
• Cranky However you take that one.

Proposal to mask the showing of an Anonymous editor's IP Addresses

• I came across this today while window shopping in Wikiland, and it's a major change, with good reasons for and against. I mostly agree with the fact that the showing of an IP address "is of particular concern if you are editing from a territory where our wikis are deemed controversial (and) publishing your IP address may allow others to locate you".
