Roco Rees (born 3 October 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays for National League South club Worthing as a goalkeeper.

Rees is a product of the Portsmouth and Brighton & Hove Albion academies and began his professional career with the latter club. He played his first senior football on loan with non-League club Worthing in 2019 and 2020. Following two seasons with Brentford B, Rees transferred to Worthing permanently in 2023.

Club career[edit]

Youth years[edit]

A goalkeeper, Rees progressed through the Elite Training Centre and the Portsmouth Academy before moving into the Brighton & Hove Albion Academy at the age of 12.[3][4] By 2018, Rees had progressed sufficiently to be named in the U21 squad for an EFL Trophy group stage match versus Peterborough United on 9 October.[5] He remained an unused substitute during the shoot-out defeat.[6] Following a work experience loan at Isthmian League Premier Division club Worthing during the 2019–20 season,[7] Rees signed his first professional contract in July 2020.[8] He returned to Worthing on a season-long loan in September 2020 and by November 2020,[9] when match play ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic,[10] he had made 24 appearances during his two spells with the club.[11][12] Rees was released by Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of the 2020–21 season.[13]

Brentford[edit]

On 10 September 2021, Rees signed a one-year contract with the B team at Premier League club Brentford, with the option of a further year.[4] He was a part of the B team's 2021–22 London Senior Cup-winning squad and the option on his contract was taken up at the end of the season.[14][15] He was released when his contract expired at the end of the 2022–23 season.[16]

Return to Worthing[edit]

On 30 June 2023, Rees returned to Worthing and signed a permanent contract.[17] With the club now playing National League South football,[18] Rees began the 2023–24 season as the club's starting goalkeeper,[19] before being dropped in mid-February 2024.[5] He made just one further appearance during the 2023–24 season and did not appear in Worthing's National League South unsuccessful playoff campaign.[5][18]
