Ramses "RJ" Meléndez Vega (born December 3, 2002) is a Puerto Rican college basketball player for the Illinois Fighting Illini of the Big Ten Conference.
Early life[edit]
Meléndez was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to Omar Meléndez and Mariel Vega.[1]
Professional career[edit]
After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Meléndez was named a member of the Sacramento Kings for the 2019 NBA Summer League season.[2]
On July 30, 2019, Meléndez signed with the Sacramento Kings.[3]
National team career[edit]
Meléndez represented the Puerto Rican under-18 national team at the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Americas Championship.[4] Conditt averaged 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and a tournament-leading 3.3 blocks per game in the tournament.[5]
On June 5, 2021, C Meléndez was named to the senior Puerto Rican national team preliminary 20-man roster for the 2020 Summer Olympics qualifying tournament by the Puerto Rican Basketball Federation.[6] On July 3, 2021, Meléndez scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in a 102–84 loss to Serbia [7]
