Konstantin Vitalyevich Ivlev (born 12 January 1974, Moscow) is a Russian chef, television presenter and restaurateur[1][2]. He is the founder of the 'New Russian Cuisine' food movement[3], as well as the companies Ivlev Group and Ivlev Chef Production. He is a concept-chef at Capital Business Group [4] and a member of the French gastronomical guild Chaîne des Rôtisseurs[5].

Biography[edit]

Ivlev trained to be a chef at the technical college № 19 in Moscow [6] and has been in the restaurant business since 1996.

Since 1997, he has worked as head chef in numerous restaurants, such as Reporter, Luciano, Nostalgie, VIP-21, Boulevard, In Vino, Poison, L'Etranger, Zebra Square, GQ-bar, Sheraton Palace Hotel and Sail.

Ivlev did his professional training at the Vatel in France, the Swedish restaurant Edsbaka Krog, the Beef Institute (USA) and at the Arzak, run by Juan Mari Arzak in Spain.

He has been participating in professional competitions since 2000. In 2010, backed by the Federation of Professional Chefs and Confectioners of Russia, Konstantin Ivlev and Yuri Rozhkov[7] opened a culinary school called «Ask the chef».

In 2014, Ivlev and the Czech footballer, Martin Jiranek, opened Wicked restaurant in Moscow [8]. The restaurant closed in 2015, after which he worked as a chef in Monster Hills restaurant at the Aviapark shopping centre in Moscow. He set up the kitchen for Yesenin restaurant on Lubyanka Square and was the head chef for Siren' restaurant in Moscow's Sokolniki Park, owned by the footballer Aleksandr Samedov.

In 2019, he became the seventh ambassador for WorldSkills Kazan 2019[9].

Personal Life[edit]

Ivlev is married to his second wife, model Valeria Kudenkova. [10]. He has two children from his first marriage, Matvey and Marusya.[11].

Konstantin Ivlev likes to swim and play football. He supports FC Dynamo Moscow[12] and collects chef dolls and pop art[13].

Television and Radio[edit]

In March 2010, Ivlev became the co-presenter for the Food of the Week television programme on the Domashny channel, together with Yuri Rozhkov[14]. Both chefs went on to present the programmes Ask the Chef[15] and New Year's Week of Food on the same channel. In 2011, they also presented the culinary programme Eat This Now! on STS channel.

In 2016, Ivlev took part in two programmes, Affordable Flavour and My-your Food[16][17] on the cable channel, Kitchen TV. During the same year, he was the host of a radio segment, called Environment of Taste on Silver Rain Radio station and presented the television show Football with Taste on the Dynamo-TV channel.

From June 2016, Konstantin Ivlev has been collaborating with Friday! television channel, and presents the shows: On Knife-edge (since 2016)[18], Hell's Kitchen (since 2017)[19], New Year's Salad Tour (2019), Masha and the Chef (2020—2021), Battle of the Chefs (2020)[20] and Young Knives (2021).

In 2019, he received the TEFI-2019 award for his show, On Knife-edge[21], in the Best Entertainment Programme category.
